Gaoranger DX Gaolleries 11 of 15 Gao God
 

The god of the wild arrives as we continue our tribute to Power Rangers Wild Force! Today's toy of choice is DX Gao God from Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger! (US fans would know him as the Animus Megazord)

Gao God is the god of all Power Animals, and is made up the 5 oldest animals of the 100 known to exist. Gao Leon, Condor, Sawshark, Buffalo, & Jaguar. Gao God fought the Org's 1000 years ago along side Shirogane/Gao Silver and the ancient Gaorangers. His defeat however is what lead to the unfortunate creation of Rouki. Able to take human form to aid Gao warriors, Gao God is a wise and powerful mecha. A being with immense power that only Gao Silver has ever had the honor of piloting.

This DX set is a lavish repaint and remold of the standard Gao King set. The ornate mix of golds, browns, reds, black & teal are very pleasing to the eye and very different from what we've come to expect from sentai repaints, the color choices themselves being very uncommon for sentai mecha as well. The additional "antlers" added to the condor/helmet can be formed into the Power Arrow and the Sawshark arm is used as the Wild God Sword!

Now this is the mech I want. I still remember Balt reviewing and it being all O_O My God GaoGod... Do the new molded horns get in the way of using the legs with GaoKing at all?Since Eagle is molded different I mean.

It certainly is a pretty Megazord... but I can't look at it with thinking to myself "UP YOURS ANIMUS!" :lol

Is this the japanese or american version? Those shoulder panels are wrong. Mine has stickers over them. Did they just not remold those?

I think, if I remember right, all Den owns is the asian releases.

What a beautiful robot. Utterly awesome to look at. Too bad it was a narrow-minded ecoterrorist piece of butt in the show.

Just wondering if there was a ever a version with the correct sculpted shoulder plates. The US version I know just has WF Megazord's shoulder plates. So wwere they not remolded and just stickered up in the JP release?

Man the birds ugly but I do like its colours. Gaogod as a whole looks awesome however.

All of my galleries are of the BOJ versions, hence why I refer to them by their Japanese names. I simply don't like to apply labels to my vintage stuff.

I've always been up in the air about this one. Very unique in paint scheme, but not radically different enough from GaoKing for me to have purchased it. And I'm not actually a fan of the base GaoKing compared to the other combinations from the series.

What was GaoGod like? Because Animus was a self-righteous turd. Did GaoGod go through the same rantings and ravings about the environment that was a blanket "all humans suck and are equally to blame for destroying the eco system" where he forced his will ove rthe wild zords before giving them a giant motorcycle? Or did he actually have something resembling a sensible motivation?

I believe it was a test or something. Similar to what happened in Zyuranger?

Ugh, I hate "tests" like that. That's the same bullshit they pulled in WF and it makes no sense. WHY did the rangers need to be tested? Were the several episodes leading up to that not proof enough?

Gods have their ways. Even Beast Gods.

But Animus being a dick? Makes total sense; the most common gods and goddesses used in a story are the Greco-Roman ones. Which, in the Greek stuff, they ARE massive dicks with the exception of Hades, who is overworked and now villainized because death is evil.

Well at first he was an amnesiac child that befriended Gao Silver. Then the orgs got hold of him and showed him the graveyard of junk where Orgs were born, the trash of human civilization gave birth to them. Since he still wasn't aware who he truly was he briefly allied with the orgs and transformed into Gao God to fight the Gaorangers. After a while though his memories returned and he tested the rangers by depriving all of them but Gao Silver of their Power Animals.

Silver was fighting an Org that looked like a wind up robot and was losing pretty hard. But he absorbed some extra special power to make Gao Hunter Blue moon and won. They passed the test and Gao God left them in the care of Tetom pretty much for good.

Well, that's better than "humanz is bad because non-specific pollution kills baby seals and if you drive a car you deserve Hell" crap.

Animus sucks. GaoGod at least had a legit reason to hate humans, even if it was all a lie.

The toys are still amazing!

I used to one of the versions of Anius. Didn't know which but also didn't care. But can someone PLEASE explain why the buffalo and bison zords have "truck" modes.

For the carrier mode shown in the instructions. It's unused in either show but the instructions show how you can use that mode for Bison plus the black figure stand to create a carrier tank form. My Gao King gallery shows it off. While the mode is still featured on the Buffalo in this gallery, the other figures aren't quite capable of sitting wear they need to be for the carrier mode. Mostly because of the extensive remolds that sawshark and condor feature.
