http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnn4qqL3A3s Watermelon arms, i must have it. I love how he initially tries to hold it up, only to have it fall down on him. Also, episode 8 preview. i REALLY like the look of Mango arms, makes me think of a warrior from final fantasy for some reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0L6uQ5emCs |
Mango arms, already in the next episode?! I mean I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since we've basically had a new rider/power introduced per episode, with one exception I think...

In case anyone missed it, there's a new sub group doing Gaim and got Episode 7 up last night: http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=496312
Bravo (and the show in general) continues to be awesome. Clearly he didn't have enough Gym badges to make the Invess obey him :p I'm also starting to get the feeling Zangetsu isn't as in control/high up in power as he thinks he is. And Watermelon Arms is pretty awesome. *Looks at AC Watermelon Arms* Must...resist... |
Man, Bravo is awesome, but has NO idea what Invess games are. :lol
I gotta say, this episode looked great. The CGI, while obviously far from real, didn't look super awful, and the pig chase was pretty well done. It was super funny that Bravo had to chase them on foot, then had to leave anyway. His flamboyent nature means he can be both threatening and hilarious. Also, the acting in and out of costume this season is top. Oren, Kouta, even when they're suited they get down a lot of subtle visual gags and character. Still wish the suit actor for Bravo was buffer. It kind of breaks the illusion. With every episode Gaim just gets better. I'm having a blast with this show. |
Yeah, after today's episode I can pretty certainly say that I don't like Bravo. It's like they can't decide whether he's supposed to be a non-sequitur mess of a stereotype or if he's supposed to be an actual character. I like that he's flamboyant, but not that he's switching off between being intimidating and a total joke. I wish that they'd just killed him off here, but I feel that they're saving the deaths for later.
I do really like Mitch/Micchy/Grapey though. That guy is cool. |
Watermelon Arms creates a nearly all-powerful suit of armor that saves the young hero who's in over his head.
I shall now refer to that one as the "Gundam Seed." :D |

Not every character in the show has to be ONE thing. Bravo's an intimidating fighter, but he's still aloof because that's who he is. The only reason he didn't beat them up was because he had to leave for something. And people are so bloodthirsty. "I hate this character I wish he would die." It's Bravo's second appearence. Just because he's not dead serious doesn't mean he can't be a threat. Sometimes the "goofy" guys are the most dangerous. They're unpredictable. |

Not only that, but in those moments that he's overly childish, he's a ridiculous caricature. I appreciate that he's supposed to have a silly and a psychotic side but they just seem to be thrown together too haphazardly for him to be at all believable. I know, it's a show about a fruity-armor war, but I just can't bring myself to appreciate his mood swings when he varies without any reason. The potential is all there, but the execution is a little weak, which is the reason I'd rather him get written off as a one-off character than to come back. That, and the ending they gave him here was awful. A formidable, indestructible fighter warded off by upbeat music and a cheap joke about pies. It's impossible for me to take him seriously when scenes like that happen. |
For those who were waiting for Aesir's subs, they're up and ready to go!

Another great episode!
It's creepy to realize that everything "Beat Rider" wise is set up by Ygdrassil, from Sid to the announcer. Baron is awesome, reminds me a LITTLE bit of Basco from Gokaiger. We got our first group henshin! Just loving this series, and to see what happens between Mai and Baron next week, and with Melon Arms debuting, I cannot wait! Love this show. |
I am loving this series so far, I haven't so thoroughly enjoy a KR series so much since OOO's they were telling the truth when they said it would be a return to form.

Besides, he showed his buffoonish side in the previous episode two, with that first meeting with Kouta. |
This is easily the best episode of the show so far.
I love the way Bravo defies his own conventions, I like just how quickly the world of Gaim is opening up and that the action seems to have finally found its feet - Watermelon Arms especially was just awesome. But I'm kinda confused, why didn't it do that for Zangetsu? |
Quote:
I'm with you, half of the time he is the most dangeous and psychotic Rider in the game, and then he goes all silly and comedic, feeling like a parody of himself. It's not working. Other than that I loved the episode, it was great to see more of Yggdrasil. |
Okay, I liked the stuff with Yggdrasil and the revelation about the annoying DJ. So the Beat Riders are basically just lab monkeys who are testing out the Lock Seeds without realizing it? That's a cool plot hook. I like that.
I'm also digging Bravo as a character. He has a good motivation, a badass design, and he's definitely shaking up the story. With all that said, Gaim continues to be the show that does a lot of really cool stuff, then drops something incredibly stupid right in the middle that takes me out of it. Now, I like the Watermelon Power Dizer. It looks really cool and it's pretty awesome in a fight... right up to the moment where it turns into a round melon and starts rolling down the street. That was phenomenally stupid. And then Bravo suddenly has to power down and run off in silly, sped-up cartoon fashion because his pies are done. Great anti-climax there, Gaim. Still liking the show a lot, but not quite able to love it. Edit: one last side note: having just watched the most recent Garo movie it is very, very weird to see Zangetsu just standing around acting normal. :lol |

I wonder how many new locks Micchy's gonna bum off his bro for Gaim before Zangetsu gets wise? Cannot wait for Mango arms. Looks so hardcore. Doesn't even look like a fruit, it just looks awesome. Also I agree with Kickback, seeing for real that Yggdrasil set up the whole beat rider thing is really twisted. Using oblivious children to basically test weapons if that where they're going. |
Suika arms is awesome! Bravo is just so weird and creepy he is awesome :lol
Oh and Mango next week? Time to celebrate by going to get a mango smoothie! :lol |
So DJ Sagara is more than just comic relief and is actually really sinister. That's actually pretty cool.
