SDCC 2013 S.H. Figuarts Power Rangers Super Samurai Metallic 5-Pack Gallery
35 Attachment(s)
In honor of the sweet new redesign, I decided that this site needed some more POWER RANGERS SUPER SAMURAI ACTION. So here is a gallery of the SDCC 2013 Exclusive Metallic 5-pack!
This S.H. Figuarts set includes the five core Super Samurai Rangers (not including Gold, sadly) in an awesome shiny metallic coated paint scheme! Not only does this set contain FOUR Tamashii-Web Exclusive figures, but they retain ALL of their original accessories! Seriously, I'm afraid of taking all the hands out of the baggies because I'm positive I'll lose them all! Enjoy! |
Nice gallery! I really dont like the metallic coating, but on Blue and Red it doesnt look half bad. Yellow it just looks weird :lol
Pink also has the tendency to look a little red.
While the metallic painting is meh (and terrible on Yellow) and not as nice as normal, this set was a great deal, I think. If I didn't already have the originals when this was announced I probably woukd've sucked it up, ignored the metallic and bought this. The Shinkenger are great and the set is pretty cheap for what it is.

Pink is really hard to photograph huh? She's not that red in person and none of the photos I've seen seem to be able to capture that.
Very glad I picked up this set.
Pink is pink in person, but when you cast nearly any light on her, she immediately defaults to red. It's like they took a pink metallic paint that has a red glimmer to it.
I was curious about the Pink. I glanced at her and thought "They included Princess Red in the 5 pack?" until I noticed the visor :lol
Yeah, that lighting is not very nice to her :p I do like the metallic look for some of them. Very nice. |
I know some aren't happy with it, but I really like the metallic paint job in person. I do not know why, but they just don't photograph well at all. I especially love the green used for Green and even the blue is great. Pink looks a little dark but I like it better than the regular pink color used. However, the one that I do not care for is Yellow. I just don't understand why yellow ALWAYS is gold in metallic. It isn't just Shinken Yellow though, it is everything from the 1995 MMPR movie yellow ranger to Wizard's Land form Figuart. If it is metallic, and in yellow, it comes out gold.
While I do wish they had done a regular red in that style, I still think they all come out nice together. Yeah, it looks weird at times, but when you watch the suits on screen, even red had less of a shine to his suit than the other rangers did. |
Metallic Green is pretty neat. Metallic Blue looks good. But overall as a set, it's kinda meh. I'd rather have the normal ones. I don't plan on completing the set. I only have(and plan to keep) Red and Gold which were my first SHFs and then Green because.....Green.
One thing that I don't really like about this set is that since Super Shinken Red was included, you don't get the rekka daizantou or Shishi origami which kind of ruins the consistency of the set. Other than that this looks like a very nice set, especially the metallic paint job on them (aside from the plainly painted weapons). This would've been a nice alternative if I hadn't planned on (and completed) getting the individual members.

Huh, I'm not sure, but I think they didn't turn out that well. I mean, the metallic paint was a nice idea, but what's the point of that if they use regular paint on the shoulder parts? You can see it best with green, it looks like they didn't have enough of the metallic paint. Also, is it just the lighting or is pink really red/orange? At first glance, without looking at the helmet, I almost thought it was the female Red. Yellow is also a bit too dark for my taste. The other colors look kinda neat though (except for the mentioned parts).

They didn't come out too badly (well Pink looks pretty bad but I'll take you guys' word on the photographing difficulty). I'd quite like the see how the MMPR guys would turn out this this treatment.
The regular ones probably look better overall, but this is the easiest way of getting a full Samurai/Shinken team.
Great gallery, Jmann! A very impressive set!
That's a pretty cool set of figures. But I do NOT like the metallic shine on them. Especially Pink....er Lightish Red.
I don't know why but I really want this set. Even though I would only remove Super Red from it.

Of course since then I have found both Shinken Pink and Yellow for $44.00 each and I working on deal to acquire an inexpensive set of Shinken Blue and Green but that's far from being a done deal and should it happen, I still have no regrets about picking up this set. Outside of the box saying "Power(ful) Rangers", I don't have any issues with this set. ;) |
They look pretty sweet sitting on my shelf. And I like that Gold is almost shiny enough to fit in, so he doesn't look too bad posing with them.
I think I need that
What do we think the chances are of seeing a non-metallic regular release of all five in a box set? Maybe add Gold to.

When I started to collect Figurarts I decided I needed to own the main six because it was the show that introduced me to Sentai. I was curious about this five pack because it would not only be an easy(and much cheaper) way to get five of them but because it was *Shiny Metallic* figures.
Seeing these images I'm pretty much sold, I like how the metalic paint looks on most of them(Pink doesn't look good, but I doubt metallic pink would be able to look good in a photograph anyway) The only thing I'm a little worried about is the fact the shoulder pads, joints do not have the metallic sheen, how noticeable is it when they are displayed on a shelf? |
