Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 10 - "Rider Battle Royale! The Mystery of the Forest!"
In the last episode of Kamen Rider Gaim...
Gaim and Ryugen find and defeat the Inves monster that has been attacking people! The audience is treated to the insinuation that Inves are actually people who eat the fruit from Hellheim forest! In a twist at the end of the episode, Micchy sees Zangetsu and recognizes the Sengoku driver as being the one his brother held - Ryugen knows Zangetsu's identity! And now in this week's episode... The other Armored Riders are convinced to a Battle Royale! While they fight, it is up to our heroes to discover what Zangetsu is up to. And Ryugen gets his first power up - Kiwi Arms! Vote on what you thought of the episode and discuss! |
The episode was pretty good except for everything that had to do with Micchy. That guy just sucks he might be an alright tactician but he cant fight at all. Even the debut of Kiwi Arms was really boring and disappointing.
|
The episode was good. Kiwi Arms was ok and glad watermelon arms returned.
|
I think the whole reason Kiwi Arms wasn't all that explored is because it actually made it's debut earlier- Kiwi Arms actually appeared in the Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Gaim & Wizard: The Fateful Sengoku Movie Battle, which aired the day before this episode. So it could be that they thought kids would've seen it in action before, so they didn't need to make a big deal of it.
Now about the episode, gotta say, can't wait til the battles in Helheim ^_^. Kinda disappointed that Sid didn't give Ryoji and Hideyasu the Tuliphopper and Dandeliner respectively, and all they did was get copies of the Rose Attacker and Sakura Hurricane. Hell, Oren should've at least gotten one of them, but nope, another Sakura Hurricane. Freaking DJ Sagara telling the city about the game :lol. Also, Inves are creepy as shit- http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__...se_Warrior.png |
Subs are up by Aesir.

Another good episode!
The rider battle royal was a neat idea but of course the Invess botched it, and Zangetsu will keep it from really happening next week. As I've speculated previously about poor Yuya, I think he's the Ivvess Jouta killed in episode 1. Really hope they eventually realize he's gone. Sid of course is being just as sinister as usual. I know he's got some grander ulterior motive that he isn't letting one. I wonder if Ryoma Sengoku does as well? Though I hate to break it to Kurokage lovers. It looks like he might be getting seriously injured, or possibly biting it by the look of next week's preview :p |
Man, what was Micchy thinking with his plan? While logical and sound, it is also pretty cold with the possibility of endangering all the Riders and ultimately a really risky move. Micchy is a really sly person, not really honest with anyone. However, that does make him a really interesting character.
Overall glad to see all the Riders together again. The fight scenes were pretty epic, and that shot with Kouta running while his armor forms around him was really good. I'm actually surprised with the CGI, it's actually pretty decent compared to what is usual for Rider or Sentai. Maybe I just haven't watched much Toku in a while. The only problem with this show is how fast the episodes end, but I guess that speaks volumes about the quality of the show rather than any fault of it. :p I have never, ever gotten the urge to look at the clock with Gaim and the show just ends before I know it. |
I really enjoyed this episode.
For starters - we got all the Riders in this episode. And from the looks of next week's preview, we have a disgruntled Yggdrasill employee who, I imagine, becomes an Energy Rider (as we only know the identity of 2 of the 3, not including Zangetsu's new form). Gridon and Kurokage crack me up. I love this duo. I pray they don't break them up, and that they get some focus before one of them (Kurokage) is eventually murdered :( 5 out of 5 again. |
Since the writer said he liked Ryuki it only was obvious that when we saw Bravo and Kurokage that they would shall I say die. I only wished that Bravo died and then Kurokage congrats Zangetsu and gets killed. I would like it though if those suits did return after the deaths, but I guess time will tell.
Sid I feel like will be an interesting villain and I imagine him with a sengoku driver and killing Zangetsu(just saying). Ultimately this episode makes me want to become Zangetsu and have the AC figure even more. I guess if I am to start that line I will start with him. Solid good episode 5/5 |
This was mostly set-up for next week's episode, but it was still really interesting and engaging. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens next week.

Just finished the episode. Bullet point time!

Micchy continues to grow into a really interesting character. Definitely one of the season's best riders.
Pretty solid episode, was great seeing all of the riders together, and Zangetsu's henshin was awesome. Disappointed that kiwi arms had its in-show debut lessened because of the movie...that's just something that bothers me with the Kamen Rider flicks. Looking forward to next week and what may be our first casualty of this rider war. |
I loved this episode it was great to see more of Yggdrasil and Takatora Henshin. Kouta is definitely awesome with his flips and his kicks in the beginning of the episode. I love Micchy's plan and he's definitely a confident, and smart character now if he can only bring some of that to the battlefield though he does seem more confident with hand to hand weapons than a gun. Can't wait to see more of Kiwi arms and all the Riders vs each other and then vs Zangetsu. I have to see I love all the Riders of this series and each of their quirks. I can't wait to see more with what happens with the Yggdrasil people, and the fight next week. This has definitely stepped up it's game.

Only go the chance to watch the raw last night.
A) Kiwi was a bit of a disappointment. The chakrams are WAY to big to be of any real use. B) Kurokage and Gridon remain interesting but are kinda wearing out their welcome for me. I hope something interesting happens to them or they at least get some better character development. C) Mitchi is a cleaver bastard. Terrible fighter but cleaver. D) Man, Yuuya is totally dead isn't he? E) Interesting to see the Yggdrasil corporation has a literal Yggdrasil tree in their basement. :P |

This episode was good, but not excellent. Kiwi arms didn't do much besides get overpowered. Understandable, but not a very dramatic reveal or the way you want to debut a new power. He didn't even get a chance to stand still long enough to really see the suit. Seeing Bravo again was awesome, especially how he so quickly got brought up to speed. Seeing Hase and whatever Gridon's real name is fight was pretty humourous, and perfectly illustrates why the two switch roles as riders. Gridon is just not cut out for combat, and Hase is.
Other than that it was good old Gaim. Great character bits, funny scenes. This show has excellent pacing. I've rarely found a scene pointless or drawn-out. Other than that, Zangetsu? I'd be more excited if he did anything, but probably the reason I'm not running out to get his AC figure is because he doesn't do a hell of alot... and we know he's already got an upgrade coming, so I fell like Melon arms will be abandoned pretty soon. I laugh at how people call Takatora a God. The dude is RAPIDLY losing control and being forced to step in and deal with things personally. He's taking more risks, getting more flak from his co-workers. Dude's not God. I also laugh at how people think riders are gonna just start dropping like flies. Granted that's more than entirely possible, but it would be pretty shit writing if we could identify fodder so easily, and they just started knocking off characters just 'cuz. If you're gonna kill a character, you better have a DAMN good reason for it. The reason I literally didn't give a shit about all but three of the Ryuki Riders was because I knew they were all just there for a couple of episodes. It didn't make Ryuki better. It made it more juvinile. When the main focused characters died, with actual gravitas and well-done scenes, (like Ryuki, Zolda and Ouja) THAT was powerful. |
Micchy not telling Kouta about his Brother was so dumb and makes me dislike that little brat even more -.-

And yeah I'm not demanding fanfare either but I suppose there was a reason not to focus on it too much given the movie. It was useful for a bout 30 seconds before he just stopped though :lol |
Kouta saving the day dressed as Father Christmas? Pure. Epic. Win. I thought the early fights in this show were really clunky, to the point where they were almost crappy, so I'm really glad to see Gaim has found itself in the fighting. They even managed to make the transformation badass with Zangetsu!
Kiwi arms certainly makes Micchy more fun to watch while fight, as about the only cool thing about Grape is the finisher, which is a shame as the suit is gorgeous. Ironically although Kiwi makes Micchy a more fun fighter, I actually think it's one of the shows worst suits. I don't mind the bat helmet thing, but the flappy armour looks bland and unfinished. Thankfully pretty much everyone else is shaping up nicely. Ornac and Kurokage are really growing on me, I just wish more of their character arc and development was on screen, as they are sorta growing behind the scenes and we only ever really get to see the end results. Bravo and Kaito more than fill up my quota for cool badasses, and I like how they are very different from one another, but both equally as awesome. I can't decide which one I love more. Also Kouta is probably my new favourite lead Rider. |
awesome episode. The action was handled really well, wether it was Kouta leaping through an open van or the big Inves face off at the end. Kiwi was a bit of a disappointment but I'm actually more annoyed at Kouta just treating Micchy like a baby, sure he's not the greatest fighter, but he's got the smarts and he's improving give him a chance man...
ahem... yeah, I can see it pushing him to the dark side. So whilst little happened story wise, it was just awesome on a spectacle level and sets it up nicely for some plot development next week. Hopefully. |
This show just gets better and better!
I love all this! Sid is gonna end up fighting Takatora and I cant wait to see TT and Gaim fight again! |

Even though he's most likely the most formidable out of costume. :lol He's a pretty big dude, and was in the army. I kind of wish he did fight as a person first. I like "unmorphed" fights, too.
|
Well, Bravo's appearance this week didn't upset me, so that's instantly a mark up on this episode. I echo the ideas that Kiwi Arms was pretty underplayed, but it's not like it's the most exciting new development anyway. I did very much like the quick henshin scenes, and that Suika Arms henshin was pretty cool. Looking forward to the next episode.

There were a LOT of transformations. Holy crap.

I just thought! Anyone else notice the first two Invess, one had green legs and the other Red! Maybe a chrismas reference? :lol

So people think Yuuya is dead, huh... I'm not so convinced (unless I watched it wrong).
He hasn't particularly been mourned for, no big send off like most fiction does with important deaths, it's all too, I don't know, easy to say he's gone or he'll come back. And lets not forget about that pesky third energy rider. Yeah.. I'm not going to make any predictions with this show. I can see it going in certain directions sure but it quickly throws in curve balls and red herrings. For a while it was pretty easy to guess what would happen next if you know a little about archetypes and so on, but then they throw in a couple of characters who could concievably either die soon, or become incredibly important. It's pretty infuriating! This episode shined in the fight scenes. Team Gaim's dances move come through in the flips and kick work, kind of like capoeira. And those armoured riders who aren't beat riders, or at least not good ones, fight slightly differently. Its all extremely well done. |
This show just keeps getting better and better. It's playing out like a soap opera, with the drama between Micchy and Takatora, the sly Sid up to no good, the secret love Micchy have for Mai, the monkey wretch known as Oren Pierre Alfonzo, the purpose behind the mysterious forest. I can go on but you get the point. However the writings are so good that we don't get bogged down with too much details, the pacing is great, and the action is awesome. This is everything that Wizard isn't, and I am always in great anticipation of the next episode.
|
Given what we've seen of how the more evolved inves are made, it is pretty safe to assume the ultimate fate of Yuuya. And given the main cast is unaware of this process, or what likely has happened to Yuuya, of course there has been no period of mourning.

Obviously, there's something much larger on the horizon as Yggdrasill and Takatora (Zangetsu) are harvesting something and "protecting the world" from something. Obviously that's going to fall apart and we're going to see what's really going on. And for the weight of the situation to be felt, I think we're going to have to see some death, or at least some permanent loss of powers. In the opening of the first episode, we didn't see Kurokage, Bravo, or the Energy Riders. We saw Gaim, alone (with an army of Inves), we saw Baron with Gridon and an army of Inves and Tulip Hoppers, and then we see Zangetsu, Ryugen, with an army of Inves and Watermelon Arms. Makes you wonder what's going to happen, as the first episode's opening was to serve as a "possible future" as to what will happen. |

I'm calling it, Yuuya will be found out as one of the main antagonists.
|
Haha, whoops. Whatever. :p

Speaking of which, who else was disappointed that when they received the LockVehicles, they received Sakura Hurricanes and Rose Attackers instead of a DandeLiner and TulipHopper for Gridon and Kurokage respectively? |
