Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger Production Team Revealed?
 

Thanks to a new Japanese magazine publication, we may finally know some details about the creative minds behind the 38th Super Sentai Series!

The producer for Tokkyuger is one Takaaki Utsunomiya who has previously worked on Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Kamen Rider Blade.

The head writer is Yasuko Kobayashi whose resume includes Mirai Sentai Timeranger, Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters and Kamen Rider OOO.

And the director of this new series is Shojiro Nakazawa who has worked on several Sentai movies including "Gokaiger VS Gavan" and "Gekiranger: Hong Kong Decisive Battle!"

Definitely a team of accomplished veterans! So far it sounds like Tokkyuger is on the right track!

Interesting! It may also be good to note that Miss Kobayashi was head writer of Shinkenger too.

Kobayashi written Sentai? One ticket please!

Definitely going to give it a chance because of it being written by the OOO writer. Haven't seen either of the movies but want to. I feel Tokkyuger is getting better and better after the toy announcement.

Well considering I watched Go-Busters and liked it and I sorta like ooo I think this is gonna a be Sentai charging full steam ahead.

Goseiger and Kamen Rider OOO? .... Damn it, Toei! STOP MAKING ME LIKE TRAINBOWBRIGHT!

Still not feeling the love for this series. It seems too much like a fictional series shown in the background or discussed in some Japanese comedy or anime show.

I think it's the suits (For me, atleast). I like the general idea for the story, Tokyo-Oh I think will grow on me, but those Knock-Off quality idiotic train-track visor'd suits.. You see them and you want to give them a participation ribbon so they don't cry they didn't win. Just a pat on a head and a "Oh, that's so precious.."

Kobayashi was head writer for Timeranger, Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Den-O, Shinkenger, Kamen Rider OOO, Go-Busters, and several anime series.

Edit: Oh, and Gingaman and the live action Sailor Moon.

I may not be exactly sold on the shows look, but with those credits, I must say I am hell of a lot more excited than I was before coming into this thread. Here's hoping it doesn't replicate Shinkenger's midseason slump.

You mean Shinkengers general lack of fun, enjoyment, decent plot, or real characterization for anyone other than Takeru? :lol

Obviously I'm no Shinken fan but I thin think the other credits this series has will do it well.

I actually liked the show a lot, but for about twenty episodes in the middle my God was it BORING. Genta was a cancer the show never really recovered from.

I wrote a theme song (using the Samurai/Megaforce theme) for the Power Rangers adaption. Ahem.

It's amazing that most of those are great, a few are good, and then two of them are just crap.

Of the ones I've seen, only Den-O is on my favorites list. I find her work consistently okay, but rarely exceptional.

Takaaki Utsunomiya? Love it. Hopefully that means the show is as stylish as Gokaiger and Shinkenger.

But I have to say I'm disappointed by the appointment of Yasuko Kobayashi.

I mean, I like Kobayashi. But while her most recent shows -- Shinkenger, OOOs, and Go-Busters -- have some great arcs, interesting characters, and really cool ideas, all of them experience serious slumps that account for about half of their respective series. I hope that won't be the case with Tokkyuger -- that Kobayashi will give us something that's been as consistently involving as Kyoryuger -- but I'm concerned.

Toei's interesting choice of Urobuchi for Gaim raised my expectations that they'd go in a similarly unexpected direction for Tokkyuger.

This just feels so safe.

Edit: Just saw she was the head writer for the Attack on Titan anime. Hopes officially up.

That's a big part of it for me as well. The Akibaranger suits look more "Official". ;)

That's probably the point. Sentai is hemorrhaging viewers and Toei's not going to try to rock the boat too much.

Then why the shitty suits?

Which is funny because Den-O is one of my least favorites of her. Her best work to date is still TimeRanger and Ryuki, followed by Gingaman, OOO, and Sailor Moon. Then comes Shinkenger. And the less said about Go-Buster the better.

And then there is Attack on Titan, which is completely over hyped.

And that is my problem with Sentai recently. They just play it safe these days. I like Kyoryuger, but it is playing it safe. The last two took risks and did something new, Kyoryuger has not done such. Go-Buster could have been a really unique series, but played everything safe after the first 8 episodes.

As long as she's not gonna make Den-O 2 out of it... We had trains before and Kobayashi wrote it. Oh, the irony. I like Kobayashi's writing in general, especially for OOO and Shinkenger (and of course, PGSM), but Den-O wasn't really one of her best works...

As long as she actually develops the main villain this time and does not replace the main villain at the last minute for some stupid goofy dude with a puppet I'll be happyl
