Go Go Super Megaforce!

Today we're taking a high-resolution look at all 21 Ranger Keys released in Series 1 of Super Megaforce toys. Each case of keys contains x3 Super Megaforce, x3 Megaforce, x2 Samurai, x1 Mystic Force, x1 Wild Force, x1 Lightspeed Rescue, and x1 Lost Galaxy.

The keys in each set are of the same quality packaged with the DX Legendary Megazord, Legendary Morpher, Cycles, and Auxilliary Zords. Each Ranger Key has a unique headsculpt that is fairly well detailed given the small scale. Based on my own experience, it seems that the quality of the paint applications can vary drastically from figure to figure. Most keys are fine but some do have rather unsightly smudges or missing spots of paint.

The Ranger Keys make the following sounds when inserted into the the DX Legendary Morpher:

For added play, each key can be scanned to unlock a virtual copy in the Power Rangers Super Megaforce Key Scanner App that is available for Android and Apple operating systems.

Part 2.

The packaging is really epic, I absolutely love how they've done the picture of the the Red Ranger holding the Mobirates.

The keys themselves however, sort of suck. They're the same price if not more then the DX Gokaiger 5 Packs, even if you're importing them, only have three per pack and are ridiculously teeny-tiny and all have shrunken bodies that look rather misshapen in some instances. The app function also detracts from the look of the symbols of the back of the key and the squeezed in (and mostly covered up) design doesn't look very good either. The "spring-loaded gimmick" that was going to be the line's saving grace before they hit shelves turned out to be entirely negligible as well and does nothing to really make the toy any better.

To be honest I just don't see the pull on collectors for these things, outside of displaying them in the awesome packaging. The sounds they unlock are the exact same as the much better done Gosei Morpher (in which the card gimmick was done awesomely with the ACG) and you can get far, far better versions for almost the exact same price.

Beautiful pictures though, the gallery is gorgeous.

It still sucks that these keys are a real "sausage fest" not only is it sexist and some of my favorite rangers are girls, these all most don't feel worth getting until we see some signs of girls, because only having 3/5 of the core team will drive the collector in me insane.

Fantastic gallery! I wish I had the money to go out and buy all of these, but there's no way I can drop $100+ on 24 Ranger Keys. I'll probably pick and choose my favorite sets.

Yeah I know.:mad: It's sad that Power Rangers has had strong female characters over the years and now that we have our own Ranger Keys there are no girls!

It just reeks of sexism and immaturity. I thought BoA was better than this! I guess I was sadly wrong.

The fact that there's no sign of even Gokai Yellow/Pink is really telling of BOA's general attitude. I really dislike the US Ranger Key line, to be honest.

Princess Red has a separate Key with a skirt, though.

They did the same thing with the samurai mega blocks. No pink zord set. The only way go get her was in a blind pack.

There's no separate picture of the Green Samurai Ranger Key. You accidentally posted a duplicate picture of the Green Mystic Force Ranger Key instead.

I encountered some kind of error with the Ranger Key app. I scanned the Black Wild Force Ranger key and got Time Force Yellow. After a second scan, it worked properly.

I get the lack of female rangers, but I don't like it.

Don't care too much, though. Don't expect to be buying any unless they get the paint apps for Space right.

Lack of female rangers is extremely disappointing, but at least the Ranger Keys are 'normal', instead of the steroid-pumping redesigns most of the male action figures seem to be. 0.o

I am glade they are doing figure sets it means I don't have to buy the bikes or the RP toys though I will have doubles because of the Zords

I know after I saw Meagaforce's Armored Ranger toys I lol a bit more when I watch Akibaranger

I need Wild Force. But since Ill get the zords, I might not even bother with these :lol

Keys which only morph into a metaphor and a headache
 

The Ranger Keys by Bandai America are one of two things: a metaphor and a headache. First, they appear to be losing interest with older fans, but if it's anything like Samurai/Super Samurai, then children MAY still show an interest. The division between old and new fans only growing. Second, I cannot even get the app update to work for one little key. It took too long to download, the Megaforce theme with the app has started to get a little old, the theme occasionally double-plays (two sets of the same song playing together; not always in-sync), I have too hard a time scanning the cards now (cry, cry) and I cannot get my camera to focus on the Key Code for the scan. Now, it should be noted that I have an Android II so this may damper the effectiveness, but quite frankly, I am completely unnerved. 20 years later, and we have finally learned to sympathize with Rita and her headaches.

No female rangers means no complete teams means I don't buy.

Ya know, seeing these sets in the store today and seeing this here reminds me of this bit here.

Then again, maybe the ladies will be sold with the sixth rangers. If that's the case, that's pretty brilliant.

That makes sense; if every ranger team for PR has been six (or close to it), then it would make sense for the ladies to come with the sixth rangers.

Though this confuses me: if Machalcon will come with Ranger Gold, does that mean that we'll get Ranger Black and Ranger Green with Ranger Silver?

And where do guys like MMPR White fit in? Blindpacks?

Just to clarify, these are in no way capable of interacting with the Mobirate nor the Gokaiger keys with the Legendary Morpher, correct?
