Gimmick Rising
I don't know if you guys noticed, but ever since Decade there has been a certain pattern regarding rider belt gimmicks.
Kamen Rider Decade - 1 card Kamen Rider W - 2 memories Kamen Rider OOO - 3 medals Kamen Rider Fourze - 4 switches Kamen Rider Wizard - 5 rings. 5 fingers. (I am excluding dragon rings since they are power-ups) Kamen Rider Gaim - Lock that is shaped like the number 6 when opened. Also, the obvious pun lock = roku, which means the number 6 in Japanese. SO, with that being said, what do you think we will get for numero 7, 8, and 9 if this trend continues? |
Wizard is pushing it, since he used one ring for transformation, and he has more than 5 fingers.
There is no 6 in the Lock gimmick. It's grasping at straws for any sort of visible theme sequence. Using the "Locks look like the number 6!" as a viable argument means Wizard was actually 0, because, gasp, most rings are ovoid and shaped like the number 0. |

Gaim Ryugen Baron Griton Kurokage Zangetsu I'm only not counting Bravo because he's not a Beat Rider. He has a SengokuDriver, and LockSeeds, but he's not part of a dance crew. Just kind of shows up and trolls every one (Awesome trolls everyone, but still) |
Zangetsu isnt a Beat Rider either so there goes that theory :lol

Even then Bravo counts. He was always intended to take part in all of this just with a different User.

Let me modify my theory, I forgot an important detail. Oren was never meant to have the Driver, he stole it off another Beat Rider. So there are (Technically) six Armored Beat Riders. Bravo Griton Kurokage Gaim Ryugen Baron With Zangetsu being more a Big Bad. |

And given Episode 13 Bravo doesnt count as a Beat Rider since he is promoted as the only Armored Rider that isnt one of those little Beat rider kids who brought the Inves infection over the city.
|
I recall reading an interview that said Gaim was discontinuing the numbering scheme. But that may have been a dream.

All his gimmicks feature a hand. Quote:

I think after Fourze they realized they couldn't keep up the numbering scheme and Wizard=5 because of fingers in more of a coincidence. I also think gimmicks will be around for a long, long time.
|
Gimmicks are fun, though. They make transforming cool instead of "I have a belt, now I'm a bug."
|
And most importantly they make money and thats the thing Bandai cares most about with these Gimmicks :lol
|
If we are going by numbers then aren't the lock seeds more like eights?

Never paid attention to that "number gimmick" thing before, but that's cool.
I follow the Lock = Roku = 6 theory wich sounds to me as the more plausible. So next year, we might see 7 = Nana = Sebun... I wonder how Toei will handle this? |
