Stuff from Super Sentai that you wish Power Rangers used
 

Was their any characters or story lines that you wished that the Power Rangers used in the shows? I do wish that they used footage from the Go Go V movie for Lightspeed Rescue. Beast-Demon Hunter Zeek could have been a cool upgrade form for the Titanium Ranger.

I still wonder what the second season of MMPR would have been like if they used the Gorma Emperor XV suit from Dairanger instead of creating Lord Zedd.

dai shogun from the go-onger shinkenger movie. a samurai rpm megazord would have been sweet. probably might of had it if Disney still did rangers.

I would say the rest of the Dairanger suits, those things are awesome! Apart from that, I think Datas or Daigoyou, I actually though that they would have been used, but nope, gone!

Goseiger vs Shinkenger. I would've loved to see Gedou Shinken Red and Super Shinken Gold in the PR Universe as well as Brajira's Gedou form.

Datas. Yes he can be a bit annoying at times, but he would've fit in perfectly on a Power Rangers series. They could've called him Tensou's armored form, or something.

Plus he actually looked like a fantasy robot, not the Beagle 2 Mars Rover.

Exactly. Not to mention Saban would've had his Bumblebee for the franchise this year. You could even work it the other way. He starts as Datas, then when Zangyak takes over he gets beaten, blown up, and Noah rebuilds him as Tensou.

I'm still right pissed Saban didn't use the Goseiger Movie footage for my spotlight instead opting for trains and triumph of the human spirit.

Why did the Samurai Shark Zord deserve more respect than me huh? WHY?!

Because the Shark Zord= More modes for Rangers. I would say more money from toys but the only Shark Attack toys were exclusives at SDCC and PMC.

Because Epic on the Go was about Warstar returning, and in Megaforce Warstar was the enemy throughout.

I would like to see how Turbo would handle their own take on White Racer.

I'd take almost every sentai character's back story over the generic "high school student" we're given almost every year in Power Rangers.

Casey was a guy who spent most of his life learning magic Kung Fu and then worked at a pizzeria.

Mack was more of a "Robot high school Indiana Jones Fanboy."

Not sure who the Air Force Pilot is though.

I'm kinda with Kamen Rider Lucha here: We need more than just "High School Jock" for Power Ranger Reds.

I doubt Sentai has had a member who was part of a realistic army since Showa, Ohranger at the latest.

I haven't seen GaoRanger, but Taylor in WF was an air force pilot, so I'm assuming the character was just ripped from Gao and given a gender change...

Doesn't that only really apply to MMPR and Dino Thunder? I mean aside from those we have Alien hero, Stowaway, Firefighter, Rich Kid, Dude raised in the wild, Ninja skateboarder, Thief with a heart of gold, Loner with missing parents, Adventurous robot, Martial arts student, Former military pilot, and Samurai descendant.

I'm not even sure TJ or Troy qualify either, since while they were in high school, Carlos and Jake are the jocks of their group respectively.

And I mean, I was clearly exaggerating for comedic effect. But almost always, Power Rangers makes their characters into "Teenagers with Attitude." Which is fine, I'd just prefer more variety.

^^This is what I'm trying to say. Let's break it down for fun.

Primarily HS-aged Seasons: MMPR, MMPR2, MMPR3, Zeo, Turbo, in Space, Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, Mystic Force, Samurai, Super Samurai, Megaforce, Super Megaforce

Primarily Adult Seasons: Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Wild Force, SPD, Operation Overdrive, Jungle Fury, RPM

That's a 13:8 ratio for the series. Pretty heavily weighted in favor of HS seasons.

Weirdly, Disney was way more diverse when it comes to the ages of its teams.

Saban's ratio is 9:4. Disney's ratio is 3:5. (High School Seasons:Adult Seasons)

Saban sure does love high schoolers. And again, that's not necessarily a bad thing. I just prefer more age-diversity.

Well, to be fair, while In Space did feature a high school setting, they kind of dropped it after a few episodes.

And Saban doesn't love high schoolers. It's that high school was successful, so why change what made money?
If Power Ranger's first big money maker was a military season like Lightspeed, then 80% of Saban seasons would be military based.

Hmm, imagine what PR with more military aspects would be like...

Well yeah, I don't mean they literally love high schoolers, that would be creepy. They love high school because MMPR made them gobs of money, and they don't want to diverge from a tried and true formula.

Saban doesn't strike me as a particularly risk-taking company, and it easy to see why they keep everything so stagnant. When the PR franchise started to diverge from the MMPR template, ratings tanked. I personally don't think the ratings dive was caused by the franchise's mid-period experimentation -- logic would indicate that the series was getting old, so its appeal was wearing thin with kids who love the next, new thing (also, it was bone-headedly buried by Disney on Jetix during this period, that had to play a major part in the decline). But Hollywood logic doesn't work like normal people logic, and accordingly, I predict we'll get a stream of HS-based teams for the foreseeable future.
