Power Rangers Super Megaforce on Nick.com
Check out the pictures of our Super Megaforce Rangers on the front page.
http://news.tokunation.com/2014/01/2...nick-com-14236 They've updated. The premiere is close. http://www.nick.com/shows/power-rangers-megaforce |
Could they have picked a worst pic of Emma ? The deer in a headlights look isn't a good look for her
|
They all look incredibly awkward in those shots.

Wow not great, like that they don't fit in those suits or something.
|
Noah does not look good in that suit.
|
I kind of thought they were photoshopped at first. I do hope this show is good.
|
They really should have gone with new actors...I still refuse to accept Noah as Gokai blue, and its going to look extremely awkward when Joe's personality comes through during the fights and then he goes back to being the nerdy "Billy" stereotype afterward. Also the fact that they have to morph into their Megaforce suits and then treat the Gokaiger suits as a Super Mode really bothers me...Goseiger keys existed for a reason.
|
They really need to fire the folks who handled the photoshoot. None of the actors look comfortable in the suits or their poses.
|
You say that like Noah worked already. Hyde was the stoic, badass, grief stricken second in command. Noah was the Billy stereotype who had no confidence in his own ability. I don't think they could have matched up more opposite characters than they did with him, and it was utterly ridiculous in the worst possible way.
"I dunno whether I'm cut out to be a Ranger!" Noah would moan, before morphin and shooting his bow one handed while doing backflips, before single handedly taking down a monster and standing dramatically as if it was effortless. I guess they just expected the kids not to notice, like with the cards. |

I can understand wanting to keep a continuity like they did with the original series, but if that's what Saban wanted, then I would've preferred that they stuck with the Samurai team because Megaforce has been extremely awkward to say the least. I think Kevin would have made a much better Gokai Blue. |

As for using Gokaiger as a power-up, They couldn't use the full season of Gokaiger due to the Rangers that came before Zyuranger so expect to see a lot more original footage. Making Samurai into 2 seasons you could say was just an "accident". Megaforce into Super Megaforce a lucky coincidence since they could only use half of Gokaiger anyway. I have a good feeling they won't explain too much as to why they are pirates but it's no different seeing a bunch of dino rangers become ninjas or summoning mystical Chinese beast, sooooooo enjoy the ride. |
I guess just after the awesomeness that was the Disney era, Saban's utter laziness is just extra painful. MMPR shouldn't get a free ride, but as it was their first venture, I can be easier on it. But after TWENTY YEARS Megaforce's non existent plot and team of heroes who don't even slightly match their sentai counterparts creating absolutely zero continuity from unmorphed to morphed fights is just abysmal.

I stand by my statement that the entire cast is horrible for the suit actors. I agree that Noah wasn't a good Gosei Blue either as well as a horrible Gokai Blue and when he starts wielding 5 swords at once and fighting with one hand behind his back, that's going to be even more apparent. Jake, however, I think is the worst off. Jake is a heavy hitter with an axe as Gosei Black, but as Gokai Green he runs away from the enemies and sets up traps and shoots from a distance rather then confront them directly and is often overwhelmed during close combat and fights by dodging and rolling over the enemies. I know they tried to make him a bit more awkward in unmorphed fights, but it still is a big difference from Don's distinctive fighting style. Watching Troy while his body is acting cocky as hell saying crap like "never underestimate the teamwork of humans!' and "Together, we'll overcome anything!" is going to awkward too.
I think, out of all the seasons, Gokaiger is a series with the most distinctive connections between their personalities and their in-suit scenes. They really went above and beyond showing off who the characters are in their fights and I think that is a HUGE problem for Super Megaforce. Not only do they show off their personalities in their base forms, using the exact same weapon set as each other in completely different ways that mirror they're own personalities, but often using previous rangers' powers in their own way. Having a bland set of MMPR copycats was just the worst possible move they could've made for a Gokaiger adaption. But yeah, that's sort of off-topic. On the pictures, outside of me thinking they all look out of place in pirate suits, those expressions are awful. Whoever told Jake's actor that was a good pose and expression combo is crazy. Quote:
I expect Silver will be introduced very early and they'll go on with footage from there. Pre-Zyu Sentai were used in the first 18 episodes much more often because once Gokai Silver came in, the majority of the Gokai Changes were all teams with sixths, which were all Post-Zyu. |
From that, it seems that Noah and Jake should really have swapped round for the second season.
Oh and that I should probably give Gokaiger another go. |

Wow the fact that someone said that to me, of all people, was hilarious.
I don't want Megaforce to BE Goseiger but if you go back to the likes of In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force etc Saban created entirely new stories, entirely new characters, entirely new worlds, while creating a whole continuity and how much you appreciate the finished product is largely superfluous as you can still appreciate all the effort Saban went into making Power Rangers its own thing. Megaforce on the other hand is 90% Goseiger clips, with all of the context stripped out while still following the same story beats as the Goseiger episode it is taken from. Then awkwardly tacking on a scene of a bunch of highschoolers drinking smoothies during the credits. Apparently these teens are our Rangers? But with personalities so different, and characterisation so non existent, the Red Ranger could be that bug kid for all I know. As much as I HATE straight adaptations, at least do it properly. Samurai at least incorporated the good aspects of Shinkenger for the most part, Megaforce doesn't even do that. It just takes all of Goseiger's fights and dubs over them. Even the much derided Disney era, which I LOVED, often directly adapted the sentais basic plot outline, but even then they created new villains, new characters and actually spent money on making it work. Megaforce has no excuses. |

At this point either they don't know what to do anymore or they are just being lazy and making a 24min toy advertisement. Quote:

Regarding the adaptations, coming off the 20th anniversary and seeing dinosaurs. Not saying I want to see another MMPR clone but just playing off that familiarity versus going into super spy animals then dinosaurs. |
Ya know we might not be seeing the Dairanger suits in this season. Those faces still look photoshopped.

I think the difference between old Saban and new Saban is technology, honestly.
Now-a-days, Saban knows ahead of time how a story is ending in the Sentai counterpart, (well, more so since they're now TWO YEARS behind, soon to be THREE YEARS behind), they can write an entire season to match the footage. But back during the days of In Space, where they thought the series was a space series (but it wasn't obviously), they wrote a story and tried to match footage to what they wanted the story to be. Example: In Gokaiger, you have a story of Gokai Blue being overwhelmed by an opponent in swordsmanship, so much that it was actually an entire arch in the story, and had a pretty nice payoff at the end. In Super Megaforce, we're getting ONE episode dedicated to a character who is supposed to be nerdy, but because he's the Blue Ranger, is going to have the same story line super-condensed about feeling like his swordsmanship isn't strong enough to be a Power Ranger (well no duh, you're a NERD WHO USED A BOW IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE SEASON). Because of that you get stories that feel forced, or you get what you feel is a lack of characterization. Noah is supposed to be the new Billy. He's in-shape, but he's supposed to use his mind more than his brawn. However we're now destroying his characterization by forcing a Sentai story line on him that doesn't fit the character we've been TOLD (not shown) that he is. |

http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1385618518 Dr. Tommy Oliver in white w/ Saba. It was said that the "Legendary Rangers" had a small cameo in the Mega War, so this has to be from an earlier episode. |

Please tell me I'm not the only one that finds Troy in the Gokai Red suit cringe worthy.
