Fourze Episode 39- "Law of The School" Discussion
The student council president has become Taurus! If someone as unlikely as him can become a Horoscope then who might be Gemini and Pisces?
Discuss! |
An all right episode, nothing too jarring. Looks like they're going for more comedy this week and next episode (Meteor golfing? Ugh). The fact Taurus has mind control is pretty shady and dangerous, but overall he appeared to be incredibly weak (Meteor handled him just fine for most of the fight).
They keep showing a lot of scenes of Tomoko, more so than Yuuki, Kengo, JK, Miu, and Shun. I'm really starting to think that Tomoko is Virgo, as she's the only "current Horoscope" that we still haven't seen not-in-Horoscope-mode. There's no reason not to reveal her identity unless it's someone we already know. For all we know, Tomoko may be playing everyone pretty hardcore, we already know she can be "two different people" (as evident by her non-goth look during her focus episode some 30 episodes prior). I expect the final switch to be something that combines all the Horoscopes together, a la Cosmic Switch, giving one hell of a fight. |

Ohhhhh that Tomoko theory is very possible. Recall that back in her original joining the KRC 2-parter that at the end she threw her switch away. Into a river and no one found it. For all we know she threw a fake and kept the real one or actually went in to find it. Reading further into this is this, her episodes were 9 & 10. Episode 12 features the first opening with scenes from Megamax inserted. Megamax is also the first chronological appearance of Virgo if I'm not mistaken. Would it not make sense since she would have had access to her switch mere episodes before Virgo emerged that she is Virgo? |

Very interesting idea, given Tomoko's personality. I'd personally would like to see one of the Horoscopes, or even the Final Boss be one of the KRC members. |
Id say it's time to rethink that theory. OT has the sub up Fourze 39
There's a scene immediately after Virgo appears where on screen we have Meteor Taurus and Virgo on one side and in the bottom corner Kengo and Tomoko. The theory that she is Virgo is interesting and awesome but unless Virgo has the ability to project people who aren't there then she and Tomoko are there at the same time and can't be the same person. |
Just watched the sub, kind of ironic how it's golf that will be postponing Episode 40. A bit of a shame since I really enjoyed this episode and want to see it conclude. Taurus was a real dick but I hope there's a good reason why/he gets redeemed, mainly because I'm a Taurus.

Cancer.
Kijima and the design did it justice. I am happy. As for the episode itself, eh. It's okay. Not much to say. A bit more on the comedy side of things, and I'm fine with that. I'm half expecting Virgo to be the Student Council president because her eyepatch matches with Virgo's covered eye. But why, oh why does Meteor agree? |
Well, he was outnumbered 2 to 1 if he chose to disagree. I'm sure that had he attacked then Virgo would have intercepted. Virgo defending Meteor means something I'm just not sure what yet.
|
Maybe she wants Taurus to brainwash Meteor to be Gemini ? lol
|
At this stage I can't really see Virgo being anyone but Emoto, but part of me wants to see Ohsugi as a horoscope :lol I can see it being wheelchair girl before it being Tomoko though.
Can't wait to see the golfing match, I've been looking forward to it since the episode synopsis was leaked. |
Interesting, Emoto's analogy of the sun, the Earth, and the moon.
As after all, if you remove the Earth, then the moon remains, orbiting the sun and basking in its glory all by itself. Not 100% sold on him being Virgo yet though; it seems like a possibility but maybe it's a red herring. Fun episode though. I LOVE Taurus' mind control/legal binding ability, too. |
Watched the sub.
The blind girl COULD be Virgo, but I really really doubt it. Even an image search of "Virgo" on Google reveals Virgo to be more of an angelic type of symbol, always-watching, always vigilant. If you've watched and are familiar with horoscopes, you'll notice that each Horoscope has portrayed similarities to what each astrology symbol means. That being said, I still think Virgo is Tomoko. We don't know Virgo's powers (we know she can teleport, we know she can access the Dark Nebula) ... who is to say she can't project images of herself? Who is to say that Libra, who we know can change forms, wasn't Tomoko during the battle with Aquarius as Virgo/Tomoko sat in waiting? Let's look. - Tomoko received a switch but it was never destroyed, simply "thrown away" - Tomoko has always portrayed an ability to sense Astro powers - Tomoko wanted to be the "Moon Princess" - The exact opposite of "angelic" is dark and gothy ... which Tomoko's non Horoscope form portrays, a perfect cover - Virgo has always taken interest in Meteor - - She was the one to inform Gamou of Meteor Storm - - She was the one to stop Taurus from destroying Meteor - - She put Aries in a coma as opposed to sending him to the Dark Nebula or erasing his memory, much like Ryuuski's friend Jirou was in a coma - - When Ryuuski was first investigating his old school, Libra switched in to Tomoko, even though Libra doesn't know Meteor's identity, and the only time Libra witnessed Tomoko and Ryuuski was when Ryuuski saved Tomoko from the fly zodiart. So either Libra took a totally random chance at picking a form that would cause Meteor to hesitate, or Virgo has been an insider to the Horoscopes as Tomoko this entire time, and Libra used that knowledge to cause Meteor to hesitate - - Tomoko is the only one who has ever referred to Ryuuski as "secret Kamen Rider" - Tomoko showed no emotion to Gen "dying" but has always, ALWAYS, paid attention to Meteor I dunno. Maybe I'm reading WAY too deep in to things, but I totally think this is the story: Tomoko threw her switch away but it was given back to her by Libra. Since then, Tomoko has been working as Virgo, aiding the Horoscopes in their grand plan because she believes it has some greater good. But she can't escape her feelings for Ryuuski, and thus protects his identity from Gamou, but is always watching over him, as he did for her when no one knew he was Meteor. Now, she's displeased with Libra and knows he's trying to usurp Gamou, so she saves Meteor because she knows Ryuuski will use his wit and brains to beat Taurus. Or it's the blind girl and I'm totally wrong. But the potential for awesome with Tomoko is there, and I hope they use it. Just remember ... Tomoko was the furthest away from the group doing the Aquarius battle, closest to the trees. When everyone goes running to Gen (don't recall if we see Tomoko in that shot or not), Libra is standing/peeking out from a tree. My shapeshift theory still works! |

EDIT: Just read this over on another forum. Dunno if its been mentioned already but here's some more rumour fuel: Virgo in Japanese is "Otome-za". Otome backwards is Emoto. Given that every other Horoscope's name has been a play on their sign I'm inclined to take that as a bit more than a red-herring. |

And now that he's here teaching Kengo and Yuki about their space travels, Tomoko noticed something about him. |
Why would Emoto be shocked by something that he knew already happened? Given how closely he worked with them and all.
|
I'm hoping it's not Emoto, if only because he's only been introduced to the series near its end, while Virgo's been showing up for awhile now.
|
Wasn't Tomoko present when Virgo made her debut in the megamax movie?
|
I like this episode, but I just don't think Taurus is all that powerful. Sure, he has the abilities to suck souls from defiant students and can apparently control people who left their signature on the contracts, but he seems to be rather easily defeated by Cosmic, and he only caught Meteor by surprise when he tried to use the Storm switch. I guess it doesn't matter in the end, because like Aquarius he will probably be taken out quickly after the two-episode arc is done.

Physical strength is cool, but far less effective than being able to force others to do your bidding. Whereas Ares was "do what I tell you or I'll suck out your soul", Taurus is "No. You have no choice here, sucker. You HAVE to do what I say, absolutely." |
Of course he's getting taken out next episode. The new Horoscopes have none of the training and even less of the experience (Unlike Kijima, who got to run wild and was possibly trained by Libra) than the other, normal Zodiarts.
But Taurus's power is extremely unconventional if it really does require the victim's consent (And it's not just Taurus sticking to policy). It's not "You have to do what I say, absolutely", but more "You have to do what I say, if you want to, that is..." |
I don't think Kijima was trained by Libra, but rather that his skill came from his own already-existing ability to mimic others. Which would let him raise his skill level rather quickly.
Still kinda hope everyone banished to the Dark Nebula comes back at some point. |

Kijima really was the most interesting enforcer and Horoscope.
It's a shame he only lasted 6 or so episodes... |
Agreed. Awesome character.
Though part of me wants Libra to get over his role-reversal and get back at his fellow Horoscopes, another part wants Scorpio/Cancer to escape the nebula and get revenge on him. |
I didn't think it was possible, but Taurus' golf gimmick might actually strike me as more stupid than Capricorn's guitar. At least his actual ability makes up for it more...
Starting to get worried about what they'll do to Gemini, since of course we all want our own signs to be badass and all. Also looks like we'll be learning Virgo's identity soon. I don't think it's Tomoko, but she's probably going to be the one to expose (who is Virgo in my opinion) Emoto. |
I'm thinking/hoping Gemini will either be two people or a split personality type deal, though they already did the latter with Cygnus.

I was happy with Aquarius I guess. Cancer had her beat anyway :lol

Just watched this episode, 2 weeks without Fourze wasn't fun, but i wanted to watch the arc as a whole.
This episode was okay, I liked how Gen's specialty was double dutch and not making friends, made me chuckle. Jk was awesome too, I always enjoy it when he gets a bit of the spotlight. Other then that it was a nice set up to episode 40. And I'm Libra so I'm pretty happy with him,so far, apart from when he got a bit cowardly and dodged the bullet but hey ho =p |
