Least we get it explained, and Ultra mode isnt just forgotten!

So the SM Morpher allows them to access other parts of the morphing grid. At least they remember Ultra Mode, although these are some of the most bland names for forms ever.

Is this a hint that Super Megaforce may actually try? Probably not, but I appreciate the effort during these fifty seconds all the same.

I wonder if they'll explain the pirate motif.

I guess if you didn't know the pirate context, you wouldn't automatically assume pirates. Their helmets look sorta like pirate hats and at a push their symbol could be seen as a jolly Rodger (but a huge push), but that is about it. With the amount of gold, and the cool coats, they look good for an anniversary suit, same as the very regal looking Goseiger suits.

"Gosei we appreciate these powers and everything, but I have a question."

"What is it?"

"Why are the suits and the new megazord pirate themed?"

"Uhhhhhhhh....look, the ability to turn into past rangers!"

"You're not going to answer me are you?"

"You can turn into any team you want!"

That's a good point and something I didn't consider. I mean, I'm drawing on a lot of Gokaiger experience the general public probably won't have. But, on the other hand, Gokai Galleon (or whatever it will be called) is pretty obviously a pirate ship.

Holy crap Troy's acting is bad. I mean, that's kind of old news for most, but I skipped Megaforce, and now I'm glad I did.

I admit I've seen Gokaiger but just going by the suits themselves with NO context...They still look like pirates.

If the suits don't give it away the Legendary Megazord sure does.

Now it's a non-issue for me cause I like the Gokaiger suits and mecha but the symbol on the chest which is two cutlasses crossed and a Ranger Key down the middle really looks like the Jolly Rodger and I tell kids who like Power Rangers that this season is pirate-themed and they go "Wow! Awesome!"

I think Saban's not acknowledging the pirate look but also kinda acknowledging it without saying anything. Or maybe I'm just reading too deep into it.

Side note: I'm liking that the suits are not just a power-up and they're own set of powers. Gives me hope they won't get tossed out at the end of the season.

If I was a kid, I wouldn't assume them pirates for even a second, I dunno what is even particularly piratey about their design in your eyes? No eye patch, no parrot, no peg leg, no hook hand, no big hat. The pirate ship is granted but the suits themselves are only pirate themed in the most vaguest of contexts.

At least one of them brought up Ultra Mode. Now let's see Saban attempt to explain the pirate motif.

If they bring up the morphing grid I will be amazed.

There is Navi, but who knows if he'll be adapted. Anyway, I think the helmet design, the jackets, the sabers and pistols, the jolly roger logo (I dont think its vague at all), Gokai Silvers bandanna helmet and eventually the giant ship cannon all scream "pirate". Sure, there will definitely be less pirate stuff and some of the minor stuff can be hand waved, but I think its a bit like Alien Rangers, where theres a painfully obvious motif they're ignoring.

To be fair, they never did bother explaining why Dinosaurs and Chinese mythological creatures were used for the first two MMPR seasons. :lol

Then again, that was nearly 20 years ago, it's time to do more.

Painful and Obvious are Saban's bread & butter.

Will Dinosaurs because fuck yeah dinosaurs. The mythological creatures make sense to in perspective of harnessing power. The transition from dinosaurs to mythological creatures however still needs some explanation. But I personally will just go with the idea that Zordon decided to give them stronger animals to draw power from.

If anything needs to be explained (in PR snese), it's freaking Turbo.

I guess we'll agree to disagree then. I think people are making a big deal out of nothing. I think the helmet design and logo are both granted, but not SCREAMING issues like say the Goseier Cards. Sure they look piratey to you because that is what you're looking for, but as a kid who doesn't know the context I don't think they spell out pirates as much as the ninja costumes from Kakuranger, which I perfectly recognised as ninjas about two decades before I'd know what a Kakuranger is.

With the long coats, the gold and silver trims, I think they work just as well as regal anniversary suits like the Gosei ones did and function fine entirely with only that context in mind.

The real question is will the final fight against Vrak be completely new footage. Gokaiger never faced Brajira, Shinkenger did in a team-up movie. Which means either they'll lose their Super power at some point to explain the lack of them in the final fight. Or just do all new footage for it.

And maybe all new footage. The finale of this series is the past rangers returning.

I wonder if keeping the Goseiger suits in this show, was just done deliberately so they can use Brajira at the end.

That's my guess.

I'm guessing, as Power Rangers loves that gig, our Mega Rangers sacrifice their Legendary Powers to take down the Armada but just when it seems victory is in hand, Vrak appears in his final form and the Mega Rangers have to gear up for one final Mega Battle! They may no longer have their Legendary Modes, but that doesn't mean they can't go for a Mega Win with their Mega Powers.

That worked better in Wild Force and Ninja Storm considering the "we have no powers but we will still fight as Power Rangers" was done unmorphed.

It would be like sacrificing a TOS-1 missile tank for an M4 Carbine: yes it's a significant drop in power, but you still have quite a lot of power to fight back with. It loses the message of "you can be a hero even without superpowers."

I just thought of something. Dairanger is supposed to be in this series, remember? I wonder how they explain that one. I'm hoping not with "Alien Rangers" again. Saban is becoming History Channel.

Probably just something along the lines of how there were Power Rangers before MMPR and what not.

Rangers from ancient times. I like it, I like it alot. Now I wish he saves that for Kyoryuger.

Considering that the only part we've seen of the US Legend War is really empty because it only includes Rangers seen in the JP Legend War without sentai-only rangers in the screen suggests that there will be probably be minimal new footage in the finale.

I'm not convinced the Dairangers will appear. There's only 20 episodes and a lot of available footage, I think its more likely White Ranger will only be in the "All Sixth" change. Although considering Kibaranger was used 5 times outside of being summoned by Basco and 4 of those were alongside sentai-only characters, maybe they will do one new footage scene.

In what context? Like how Zyuranger's team was from ancient times and revived in the modern day? Or where the show takes place in the past?

Something like that, yes.

We actually do know. The Legendary Morpher says "Summon, Sky Ship!" So it's called the Sky Ship...yeah, I know.

Gokaiger as Alien Rangers and Dai as well...Dai
 

Some seem to fear that using the Dairangers as Alien Rangers is a frightening thought, but there is promise in the concept. Let me explain what my thinking would have been. Instead of Gosei giving them new powers, it would have been more prudent to have the Gokaiger team as a seperate group altogether, Ex-Rangers who turned to piracy and are forced to give their powers to Troy and the others. This explains the pirate team that Saban's crew may be trying to avoid as there may be no possibility to use pirates as a team of justice while still using past ranger powers. It is possible, though not definite, that NOT mentioning the pirate theme is a marketing decision. It is the Dairangers that are more perplexing. There was a minute degree of script evidence that they would be adapted and there was talk of them originally appearing in Lost Galaxy. One possible explanation, though unlikely to be used in this regard, is that they co-existed alongside the original Mighty Morphin' team and were called to Earth by Zordon to lend their assistance (namely, their zord designs) to help in the fight against Lord Zedd. During this period, they briefly met a human boy who would grow-up to be more significant now. This is pure rambling, but it still would have been interesting. At this rate, however, the pirate theme is moot and the Dairanger cameo may be one episode AT BEST!

I didn't know that when I posted. I have since seen the awful clip from Instagram. Honestly, yeah, that's a pretty lazy name. This makes me glad I have little interest in the US adaptations.

I like to stress that Saban needs a new creative team, it's not hard to not acknowledge the pirate theme while still tipping the hat to it.

Is it okay to assume that sentai fans and power rangers fans together are grinding their teeth on the whetstone of rage and hate?

IDK, it's like the Alien Rangers not being referred to as ninjas but because they share the powers of the other Rangers, it was kinda obvious that they were ninjas. So just someone mention it is all I'm asking for. It's kinda weird, just some random pirate ship out the woodwork.
