The problem is the negative connotations the word has. No matter how swashbuckling the adventures are, people will bitch about pirates being the heroes regardless.

How bad can pirates be for kids when Disney is milking the pirate name for all ages? :lol Yes, there's Pirates of the Caribbean for older audiences but also Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy and Jake and the Neverland Pirates for younger audiences.

You must remember, Disney gets away with everything :p
And the pirates are the villains in Peter Pan (Never say any sequels/spinoffs, though).

Because most of the time in kid's programming, the pirate is used as a villain or comic relief ploy, never really as the main hero. True there are some shows that break this mold, but 95% it's a pirate being villainous. Of course it wouldn't be the first time Power Rangers was close to pirates...

I don't see how this is surprising to anyone.

I mean FFS these two seasons were called Power Rangers Mega Force and Power Rangers Super Mega Force. I mean aren't those names just so super special awesome? I really really hate the current naming scheme they've gone with. Samurai was fine, it fit the theme of the show and felt in line with previous seasons. Splitting it into two full seasons and tacking Super to the front of it was a bit...eh. And then we get Mega Force and Super Mega Force. Really?

So that confirms there's no "Final Wave" and instead they jibber-jabber through the whole thing ohmigod stop talking.
