Let's Watch Wednesdays Week 9 Mahou Sentai Magiranger 25-27 Discussion
Kai's courage, stolen! Travellion's ticket, stolen! Wolzards magic, ALSO stolen! Smoky, runs away? The enemies of Blaigel return! So Let's Watch Magiranger 25-27 And don't forget next week we watch Magiranger: Bride of Infershia! |
Oh, man, I am so far behind in this. I need to get over my Toku watching burnout, fast!
|
Let's Watch Wednesday: The Travelion is goofy this week edition :lol. Between Nai and Mare hijacking in one episode, and Smoky piloting it in another, it really got act silly. Kai rebounding from getting his courage stolen because it springs infinitely...not sure if that was foreshadowing a later event but nice if it is. Smoky got to prove he can awesome and had some nice development with Urara. And then we have the enterance of the Four Kings of Hell. Sichijuurou, dude is a boozehound with a dial on his sword. He'd fit right into Shinkenger :lolol. I do wish this group of Beastmen weren't MOTW because I would have been cool to see them exploring him posessing Makito more, but oh well. I guess I want to see more because he reminds me of that Armor Dimension Beast from Jetman. All and all not a bad week, but I'm more pumped for next week because more Tsubasa spotlight and we are getting close to the purpose of the rings.

25: A Kai episode... actually we hadn't had one in quite a while, that's neato.
The idea of the Motw stealing courage away is great idea given the role it plays for magicians, the solution was once again predictable, but the episode was enjoyable. One question remains, what did Hikaru do to Nai and Mare? :lol |
Knowing what I know about the finale, the whole stealing courage thing was rather pointless :lol

Episode episode-sama 25 de gozarimasu desu
Meh. Not much more to say about that. The Yamazaki plot is pretty much the same as her other appearances and the monster was slightly more annoying than usual. Also, someone really needed to tell the producers of this show to stop using cheap rubber balls to represent important non-tangible objects like courage or the soul. |
26: Smoky's origins tie very well with the family motif of the show, can't say I expected Wolzard to willingly give his power to Meemy. I'm really interested to see how that plays out.
All in all I think it's my favorite Urara episode so far, but that joke at the end wasn't necessary. |
Wolzard's just that much of a badass. And he realizes that he's still powerful without the magic. AND that he can take it back at any time he pleases, as we will see later.

Anyways, I thought it was a smart move for Meemy. |

Well, the monster this week definitely gave the team a big adventure. Yep, this was no trip to a playhouse. Something something public masturbation. I liked this one. The stuff with Smoky was actually pretty good and even a little moving (at least until they ruined it at the end for a cheap groping joke). I could swear I've seen another tokusatsu do this exact plot with the food turning into sand thing, though. Maybe Kakuranger? I don't know. It wasn't a huge part of the story here, but I know it's been done before (or possibly since). Anyway, next episode looks like another Makito focus, so I guess I'll just be skipping to the action scenes again. |
27: A Makito episode... but turns out this time everybody hates him, like in real life. :p
I liked it because for the first time, Makito wasn't part of the problem, when he had the episodes with Kai and Houka his intransigency was the cause of the problem, when the Urara episode came, he was the one to lose the money bag, and in the mammoth episode his insecurity caused the problems. It was a nice change of peace. The story was fun if a little simple, and the new enemies seem interesting. |

Actually didn't fastforward through that one as much as I expected to. It was a pretty cool display of how the team's familial bonds work, although knowing that part of the show's goal was to convince kids to beg their parents for siblings, it got a little too on-the-nose for me near the end. If I didn't know that this show came first, I would totally swear that the new monster group is just ripping off Gekiranger and that four-monster group from its early run. |
You mean that 5 monster group? The 5 Deadly Venoms :lol
