General Schwartz continues to be awesome and I'm glad we've stepped back from the Right-fest that was last week's episode. For me, the mech fights continue to be the most underwhelming portion of the show, but I think that's due to the inherent immobility of the ToQ-Oh suit. Overall, better than last week, and it was nice not having a random monster of the week. Sweet bit of Den-O-ness in place of the local trains portion (and some Kyoryuger, if you're into that).
Not too shabby, ToQger. |
Thus far, ToQGer's Support Ressha are eerily similar to the Power Animals from Gaoranger.

Don't even have subs yet and I felt this episode was a big step up from 4 and 5.
|
How cow!
That CGI of gaburtera changing into a ressha was unbelievable. |

Anyone know when the full theme song for ToQger will be released?

So…Tokatti looses his pass last episode gets captured in this one…man he's all kinds of useless is he?

Schwartz is a pretty cool villain though. I feel like he'll be more into fighting the ToQgers than following the goals of Shadow Line later on. Also, judging from the train preview, Momotaros is using Den-Liner to fight against Shadow-Line?! So they're in the movie too?! I wonder how they'll even fit in... |
This show I think goes really well with Gaim in the sense that Gaim is engaging and well written ToQger is fun and well done action

Dat Denliner.
That was a beautiful blast of nostalgia: the Denliner in that weird rainbow desert, Den-O at the helm, even small appearances by the individual train attack modes. I have no idea where this footage is from, but I want to see the whole thing now (minus the Kyoryuger bits). As for the episode itself, I loved it. The characters really feel fully realized already and it's great to watch them interact like they did at the end. There's a real sense of camaraderie here that I haven't felt since Gokaiger. I loved Right and Tokatti's idea of having everyone be the leader. Also, Kagura playing invisible drums while Right was talking to Schwarz at the end? So damn adorable. I freaking love this show. |

I thought this episode was pretty good.. Not my favorite but still pretty good... Looking forward to the ToQger vs Gaim episode next week though. Looks like its going to be pretty bad ass..
|
Great episode! Stunning production values, great character focus, awesome chemistry between the cast and Schwartz-sama~ It doesn't reinvent the wheel, hence this extremely short post, but as something to help the popcorn go down, this does its job nicely.
About the only downside is the mech portion of this show still blows chunks, despite being like the primary focus of the show. |

I will say I probably laughed a little too hard at "Now Arriving: Tank Uppercut - FINAL STOP".. I don't know why.. But that was probably my favorite part of the episode..

I thought this episode was actually at a new kind of awesome for ToQger. Tons of interaction between the cast, and I love Right's idea of each team member having an important part to contribute, and thus being leader in some way. He's fast climbing my personal ranks of favourite Red Ranger and is very, very near the top.
It's nice to see Schwartz come out and cause some havoc. I love how it's shown that he's nigh unbeatable, it's just his trains that have let him down. That was a really nice touch. Can't wait for more episodes, that was a ton of fun! |
I'm still trying to figure out if switching colours and weapons mid battle actually has a purpose or not.
It fits with the whole Imagination theme sure, but what pros does it have in battle outside of keeping your opponents guessing? If the Rangers used downsized versions of the Support Resshas and became like extra rangers without hiring new actors I could see that aspect being cool, but…it all seems pointless to me especially if the person who's not use to the someone else's fighting style and won't know how to properly use his/her weapon. |

I see it as all for purposeless fun, and I'm fine with that. :lol
|
Yeah the swapping gimmick sucks, but the action is usually well done enough to not care.
|
Hmmm, I don't know, there is a theme there somewhere, as badly portrayed as it is. I think the suit gimmick combined with this episode's insistence that everyone is a leader when it matters kind of hit it on the head. It's all a heavy handed but all too vague metaphor for kids being able to do anything they want if they put their minds to it, everyone having a role to play.
Fact is I think this show is being too subtle for its own good, drowning what little purpose there could be in layers of silliness and fun times. Still, I love this damn show. The characters are becoming characters. It's be no means an instant winner like a certain other series is. |
Yeah so far ToQ is certainly not toppling my favourite, Goseiger, but like Kyoryuger it's providing big thrills and so far it isn't as nearly bogged down in filler as that show was. So I can appreciate it for what it is, especially as Gaim is providing something a bit more fulfilling beside it.

I didn't have a good feeling at the start of this episode; mostly because it reminded me too much of Goseiger (which I hated).
Overall though this was pretty decent. Schwartz is an impressive fighter and I can't wait to see what he does next to try and match the ToQGers. |

Speaking of Greta, she was probably thinking "I'll never wash these hands again!" When Schwartz touched her. :lol |
A really good Episode.
I love it that Schwarz is this ruthless asshole and master tactician :lol Thats how you do a proper Villian. The Message in this Episode was really well thought out and not something that we see very often these days in Sentai. I especially liked Rights reaction when Tokacchi suggested that he should be the leader :lol The only real negative I have about the Episode is the ToQ Oh fight. I just dont like it when they speed up the footage in tv shows to create the illusion of super speed. It just never looks right to me. |
Never thought I'd say this, but ToQger is growing on me in a major way. It's even on par with Kyoryugers as far as quality, and Right is actually a better Red than Daigo. Right is selfless, easy-going, and rather have his teammates get the spotlight instead of him (unlike Daigo), but will step up to the plate and face the enemy like a true warrior every time.
The rest of the ToQgers are great as well. Tokatti/#2 Blue is always hard on himself for being weak, but he's got a big heart and always strive to help rest of the group. Mio/#3 Yellow is my lady crush for the show. She reminds me of Luka Millfry from Gokaigers, but she's a lot warmer and nurturing than Luka IMO. Mio can be bossy sometimes but she's just very confident. It's funny that Right would refer to her as "Nagging Leader" and her reaction sent both him and Tokatti scramble for their lives. Hikari/#4 Green is a favorite ranger of mine. He's quiet, prefers to be in the background, but he's also the smartest member of the group and has the leadership qualities that Right sometimes lack. Calling him Shadow Leader is right on the money. Kagura/#5 Pink is mostly just there without too much input in the scene. I like that she's got the most imagination of any member and I hope more episodes will focus on her. Oh and Schwarz is absolutely ruthless. Love it. Anyways I find myself watching ToQger first before Gaim. Its lighter tone makes the show more fun to watch. |

Schwarz is a badass. But the best part of this episode was the ending credits where Gabutyra became a train, and Denliner faced off against the Darkliner.
That I am looking forward to. |
When is that movie out anyway?

This episode was so much like Goseiger and I loved it <3 Actually, when I first read what the cast would be like, it sure reminded me of the Goseiger cast and now they're doing the whole "Who's the leader?"-thing again. YAY :D
Loved especially how the friendship between Tokachi and Raito was presented in this episode. Also, so excited for the crossover this weekend ^w^ |
That was great. I can understand the cabs in the support Ressha a lot better now.
So next ep. is the V. Kamen Rider Gaim or is the next ep. something else? Also, getting a Wild Force vibe here with the 'lost trains.' Though now I want a streetcar dangit. Why do I want a streetcar? |
