Dance Crews...Does it get toned down?
I just. Man.
If there's anything I don't like about Gaim is the concept of the Dance Crews instead of any other metaphor. Oh. And evil Pokemon battles right in the middle of a dance show down. :p Oh. And zipper portals? Hmm. The bio-electronic fruits don't bother me as much but theyre still really, really out there. I guess I'm not one for the "oh, its so funny and cool and goofy". Yeah. I'm not looking for goof. Will the dance crew stuff get toned down? I like the costumes (MINUS the first monster, it was GOD AWFUL) and the special effects, but man. Every time a dance crew scene happens it makes me wonder why I'm still watching it. |
It does tone down.
|
But sadly Mai never leaves.
Her shittiness infects every scene she is in, usually sending episodes off track and draining the momentum it may have originally had. I mean even Bella and her love triangle was actually part of the story, Mai and her love triangle are just...there. Even when dancing was a thing this show pretended to care about, she was still just...there. |
Why is everyone so worked up about this whole dancing stuff? Besides, it's not the only goofy stuff they do in Gaim so I don't see a problem with it at all oO
Anyway, the dancing still is a part of the show, but depending on which character the episode focuses, it's sometimes more and sometimes less important. When Mai and often also Micchi are around, there's more dancing than with Kouta and Kaito. |

Not to mention that the only time the dancing has been relevant to the show is when people watch the show make up weird meta LOOK HOW DEEP I AM theories about like the loss of innocence or some shit, something the show itself never once even implied in relation to this aspect of the show, unless you use the most stretched and twisted evidence.

It really annoys me when people do stuff like that, especially when they look so proud of themselves after. Just admit it, it was a massive misstep and this part of the show sucks. You can accept a shows faults without automatically being a hater. Never once did anyone say that love must mean to praise all aspects of something, even when you know it is shitty and would be better if that part was changed or removed. |

Srsly though. Fanboys need to just admit instead of stacking up lies to protect themselves. Anyway. I'll try a couple more episodes. If I'm not feeling it, I'm going back to Super Sentai or something. |

If you want a better Rider show, watch OO, Wizard or Dragon Knight! |
Dance crews?
OH RIGHT! This show had dance crews! The dance crews are really, really minor. I think we see them dance, like, five times? Total? Usually it's briefly seen or is quickly interupted by something cool. Quote:
Gaim's really fucking good, easily better than "Go-busters." It all makes sense in the show. I'd explain it, but then I'd ruin the show, and you should deffinitely check it out. The dance stuff barely factors in. It's basically just there as something harmless the kids do. Gaim's main underlying theme is "growing up." The dance stuff represents trivial kid problems, while the rider stuff is serious adult problems. Hell, the main character Kouta only dances once as a courtesy to his old friends, but even he has given up the dancing as "kids stuff." The "dancing" could've been replaced by anything, it just needed to be something immature and pointless, so it was clear that the characters had moved on. It was the red shirt of the plot. Quote:
Oh Locke, you say the dardest things. Wizard was utter dreck. You think Gaim is silly because of the dancing? Wizard seriously seemed aimed at babies. Every character was obnoxious, and idiot, or both. The villains were laughably ineffective and cartoonish. The show was a joke. Quote:
Because Super Sentai is SO mature. |
You aren't that far into Gaim yet are you?
Mai and Knuckle stick around, but the dance stuff quickly gets phased out mid way through. |

AS stated, I asked if it gets minimized. YOu said it does. Fine. I'll see. And yeah. From what I've seen of sentai, it's more appealing that what I've seen of Gaim. Again. I'll keep watching to see if it changes. Douchefuck comments don't really help your point get across man. YOure a kamen rider fan boy. I get it. It's also a kids show btw. There's no dick measuring here. U say it gets better. I get it. Other than that all I heard was bashing. So that's all I'm gonna take from it. |
Actually Kamen Rider is a FAMILY which is for ALL AGES, there is a thread in the Kamen Rider Discussion forum talking about the difference between the two, besides, Kamen Rider didn't become more kid friendly till OOO.

I get it. Unless you have a comment out How Gaim goes, please don't bother. |
Oh yeah, I forgot that a show can just be good if it's always "dark" and "serious". :rolleyes
Gaim is frickin' awesome. It has a good and deep plot, loveable characters and cool action. So please don't make this a "let's hate on Gaim because ZOMG DANCING!!!!1!1"-thread if you haven't even watched it that far. You can dislike the show for whatever the reason you want, but publicly talking bad about the show for such silly reasons will get you nowhere. I enjoyed Go-Busters and Wizard and there's a lot of different shows I also enjoyed, but imho, writing-wise, Gaim is one of the best shows I've seen, while Go-Busters is around average and Wizard has a ton of flaws that could've easily been avoided. Besides, isn't it a bit ironic to say Gaim was "goofy" while liking Go-Busters which has characters like Beet J. Stag in it? |
Indeed, plus Kamen rider wasn't kid friendly till OOO aired. Sentai started that when Carranger aired. I like both tokusatsu shows anyways, I have zero issues with super sentai, but between kamen rider & super sentai super sentai is more aimed at kids only as kamen rider is darker even Gaim, Wizard, OOO, & Fourze had dark elements, & they work, when a sentai series tries it, people for some reason don't like it, they either want it kid friendly or dark & serious, I don't understand it at all.
|
Gaim is probably the best Kamen Rider series I have ever seen. The dancing your complaining about is simply a facade. It is something light and cheery that is hiding something dark and deep.
|
Exactly, I want to watch Gaim, but video streaming websites that aren't Youtube are a bitch to deal with so I'm stuck waiting till they can upload the episodes onto Youtube.

The dancing teams and games are a forced act of propaganda by a shadowy city-encompassing organization to get children to test the abilities of lockseeds and Invess under the guise of fun and games so they can create more powerful weapons.
There. |

Spilt Lip is right, Ghostlander wouldn't stop badmouthing a show that he hates & knows less about than even me *hell that's saying something right there :lol* so basically, he got a damn good accurate description :lol.

Gaim is pretty darn good, I mean if you already disliked it because of the whole dancing thing then... I don't know what to say. One of the main reason why they dance is because it was a new hope or joy that they can do after being run over by Yddgrasil(butcher that name sorry). Plus there is 2 arcs to this series the first 13 or 14 is the Childhood Arc which they told us is a bit of back story and silliness, and the 2nd Arc being the more serious and dark tone.

Well yes the dancing does get toned down, almost non existent at this point. If your going to judge a show just because of dancing, then I don't know man. Overall the plot of this show is SO much better than any Sentai ever.
I personally find Rider WAY better than sentai, and Sentai is aimed towards kids, Rider is clearly a wider age demographic, and honestly I lost interest for Sentai a while because of Rider. |

I'd argue that the dancing helps the show. I mean, I'm not going to deny that the shittiest part of the show is when they focus on the dancing but the entire point of the show is that these characters are all people who were forced to grow up way too fast. The goofy dancing is all part of the childhood innocence that this show tries to portray early on and as such, it creates a clear contrast between how the show starts and the point where it is now.
Trust me, this is one of those shows that gets better as time goes along. |
Wizard isn't better than Gaim in all areas, but it's definitely a better show to get into Rider than Gaim is. Gaim's gimmick is muddled, its fight choreography lack lustre and although the actual story is strong - it's the only reason to really watch Gaim - something with consistently wonderful fight sequences and an easily digestible plot and set of characters seems a much better starting point to me.
If I didn't have things like Faiz in mind when watching Gaim, I could only appreciate the focused, well paced storytelling so far and the rest of the time I'd just be utterly bored as everyone pulls out their bow and stands still for a whole fight. |
To me it's taking the fruit thing seriously. I find that to be just waaaay out there and eye-roll worthy, but I still want to watch the hell out of Gaim. I watch shows depending on their engaging storytelling. From what I've watched of Gaim, yeah, the fruit theme is not a problem. It's silly, but I won't let something trivial ruin a show that has a good enough storyline. I dislike the Sbinkenger suits a lot, yet it's one of my favorite Sentai shows ever.
One of the things I like about Toku shows is just how diverse people's opinions are on each show. Even though most shows are just re-utilizing what others have done in the past. Sure a large group may have the same opinion about a particular show, like how many people love OOO, but there's a lot of different thinking out there. I just don't like the types who are all: "This is what I think and my opinion is law. It's a shit show and you should think so too." |

I don't care either way with Power Traingers. It's just not for me.
Trains are cool, but the Mecha and suits aren't my cup of tea and while the Shadow Line is AWESOMETASTIC, good villains alone aren't enough to hold me over in Toku. |
