ToQger Episode 8 "Explosion on the Rainbow Line" Discussion
A change of course! A new support is found, Diesel Ressha! Can Right return it to the Rainbow Line? What the heck is wrong with Tokatti? And when will Diesel Oh be formed?! As always for any users who'd like to view this episode via live stream on Saturday feel free to head over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts, generally marathons. Live Streams are at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Looking forward to this.
I'm hoping it's in a freight yard (the Diesel itself looks like a Switcher), but I'll settle of abandoned siding. |
What's with that title?

I don't know if the title was posted or not. Judging from how quickly the Ressha have appeared after announcement I do believe that we'll be seeing us some Police and Fire Ressha early in May. |
HA! Totaly zoned out on the title, fixing it now :lol
|
Correction, if you are in EST SHT starts at 6:30pm.

I loved it.Very ranger based episode and I didn't mind at all that Diesel-Oh didn't make it's debut. It was a weak monster, and if Diesel-Oh had to debut for it,then it would have looked weak

Unrelated to the episode, but about five minutes before the Sumo series started (I got my times mixed up), I'm almost positive I saw a commercial with Erina Nakayama. Also, that Spider-Man 2 commercial that aired before the episode was amusing.
The transformations in this were well done and interestingly dynamic. I wasn't feeling the bomb MOTW all that much at first. He did prove to be more interesting than I expected though. As usual, Robot Naomi continues to get more and more creepy. Poor Ticket! The suit actors had an opportunity to act outside of fights and did a great job, I thought. Tokatti was entertaining and is really growing on me. The introduction of Diesel Ressha was different than what I expected and ultimately satisfying, since it didn't happen on the first try. Sure, we knew it would activate eventually, but they tried to build some drama in the episode, which I appreciate. The color changing gimmick was used to nice effect as well. A fairly middle of the road episode, overall, with Tokatti's bow being the highlight for me. :lol A Mio episode AND Diesel-Oh next week? Sign me up! |
From the preview I would guess they stole this plot from a Denzel Washington movie.
|
Next week is also when Sotarou, the actor known for playing Ken/Geki Chopper in Gekiranger, will appear! Apparently to be Mio's love interest :D

Can someone give me a synop? Hoping this is subbed tomorrow.
How many tries did it take to get Diesel online? |
Now that teh subs are finally out.... This was an OK episode.
Diesel is an interesting new addition and I liked the search part of this. The fight with the bombers on the Rainbow Line was probably the highlight of it. Very unorthodox ending battle too. New Mecha next week! :D |
I'm pretty sure that TQO switch is meant to stand for "ToQOh", not ToQ 0.
So Conductor taking off Ticket and still being himself...That raises more questions than answers. This probably proves that Conductor isn't being controlled by Ticket, but then what IS Ticket? I mean he can pop up in ToQOh's cockpit, forcefully taking him off doesn't work, he has his own personality and is sentient...I doubt he's JUST a living puppet. |
Every week Wagon goes further and further off the deep end :lol
Was a fun episode. I especially liked this week's MOTW with his lack of arms. |
A Shadow that reminds me of Pudgy Pig, train hitches don't work like that!, and ToQ 0 confirmed maybe(I dunno, it did look more like an O to me...).
|
Ticket is ToQOh's spirit, calling it now.
Finally saw this subbed, and I like how Right finally starts Diesel. He (Diesel) reminds me of Trevor from Thomas the Tank Engine; 'I like children'. So to see episode 7. |
This episode was entertaining, and I like that they're starting to find practical uses for the colour swapping gimmick.
One thing that's getting annoying is how often they feel it nessicary to remind us of Greta's little crush on Schwartz. |
This show has found a pretty fun way of making kids feel important. I often find in sentai that when they try and include their target audience in the actual episodes it just feels awkward and shoehorned but the whole IMAGINATION device is a lot more clever than its general silliness would seem to suggest.
In terms of the actual episode, it was fun but there wasn't a lot to it. It's weird the show can make the Ressha so entertaining but somehow can't seem to carry the same magic to when they all combine. I hope the show actually gets a plot at some point. |
Someone (can't find the source now) pointed this out on tumblr and I thought it was a pretty nice observation. Tokatti's always screaming and flailing in panic, but in this episode he remained still and calm throughout. He realizes that there's a time for panicking and a time for courage. That's pretty cool.

I thought it was actually the perfect episode. Nice build up, Wagon makes the perfect Sandra Bullock, and Tokkati is the nicest bomb hostage you'll ever meet. Even Right was spot on for this episode.
The fact that they didn't introduce Diesel-Oh's full form is just fine. Build up the steam. |
The episode wasn't the best, it felt far to rushed and the MoTW was forgettable. But I voted excellent anyway.
Because I to want to 'trip' into Wagon's chest. |

Seriously, he could probably stumble upon NSFW fanart of Wagon or Candelira and not be freaked out. |
