Way too early to speculate, but hey, could be interesting.

I...........don't know how I feel about this. I'll wait until it actually happens. I'm all for some kind of remake/reboot, because MMPR was all kinds of ridiculous.

I hope they don't try to super modernize it with armored up suits and everything. Because I would consider that a sub genre shift. I want to see Power Rangers. Not Kamen Riders or Armored Heroes. Unless of course they actually ARE Kamen Riders or Armored Heroes.

Either way, I'm still excited. Sort of. Probably one of those "Even if it's bad it's still good" things.

I am beyond excited. A big budget production of Power Rangers is something I have always, always dreamed about. Besides the opportunity to get a good movie, there are tons of merchandising opportunities. Give us good toys BoA!

Rampent/Baseless Speculation: "Oh man, we just had Morphin Madness. What if it's those five Rangers in this movie. It make NO sense but would be cool"

Actaul Human thought applied: "It sounds like they might be rebooting MMPR based on the press release. Then again the press release is more for share holders than anyone else so who knows at this point."

Sounds good to me. Lionsgate is smart to try to get in on the superhero movie game. And this is a good brand with a built in fan base. Even if it doesn't please the nerd world, I'm sure the kids and casual fans could enjoy it.

Sounds irrational but I'm just sitting here wondering if for this major effort, BoJ could actually be the ones to design the toys this time? Or it could be a collaborative effort with BoA like Hasbro-Takara?

I look forward to this solely to see how Power Rangers will go without Sentai footage to fall back on. Combine that with original toys and this could be quite exciting!

Yes, but with modern special effects made possible by advances in movies such as Pacific Rim and all the superhero movies. :D I really hope the Megazord isn't a mess like in MMPR the movie!

Those things happened nearly 20 years ago. Its fair to say Saban isn't in the same place creatively as it was back then.

That's why I'm just hoping all they're doing is licensing out the brand and letting external companies handle the actual filmmaking. :lol

I suppose I should be less skeptical about this whole movie thing, but the fact that it's most likely just gonna be some nostalgia influenced MMPR reboot makes me lose interest.

Whether it's a MMPR Remake, A Go-Busters adaptation (They work great for a movie and could be how they were able to skip the series) or something else I'm down for it because if Japan can make Sentai movies every year no reason PR can't do the same.

Nostalgia influenced MMPR reboot could be good. Most superhero movies are nostalgia influenced reboots anyway. Just need the right production team, a solid story and a good cast.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that I'm probably the only one who thinks that this won't work. The previous two movies, while nostalgic, haven't held up well over the years. I can't see a third one doing well, especially if it's a re-imagining of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.

Then again, this is Hollywood, where original ideas go to die, and shitty adaptations, remakes, and sequels reign supreme.

This could be good, I actually love the original MMPR movie. It's campy as all hell but fun. But I just can't see this whole thing ending well.

To be honest I'm actually quite surprised, it seems Saban has hurt fans so much that cynicism is the default reaction to anything they do. I can't say it isn't warranted though.

I would love if it was a Go-Busters adaption. High School spies would be amazing.

Marvel movies get by without relying on nostalgia and they're pretty sucessful. I'm just not intetested in seeing the MMPR again, I dunno. I'm usually more ambivalent then most about reboot type stuff too.

Oh I see where you're getting with the nostalgia and reboot thing. I kind of see it like an adaptation, like how Marvel movies would borrow liberally from the comics but change stuff as they see fit. So perhaps nostalgia isn't the correct word I'd use.

I highly doubt this'll be nostalgia fueled if its fully realized. They'll be aiming for the general public, not the same niche as Saban does. I'd say think more down the lines of the new Turtles movie or even Transformers.

I think so too. The Power Rangers adult fanbase is way too small to cash in solely on nostalgia. There will be nods, but I think it will stray quite a bit.

They'll be aiming for a general audience, riding the coattails of MMPR though. Not like anything else would sell movie wise. That definitely doesn't mean it'll be good either.

Well they could keep the highschool, theme, the mmpr suits, the dinozords, and even the names of the rangers. And kids would definitely still go see it, its not like basing stuff in nostalgia really alienates them or anything. My main beef with this is...I wanna see the try something NEW and not constantly fall back on the same stuff.

There are several things I need to know before I get exicted.
Who is the director?
Who will play the rangers?
and Does the rangers' costumes re-design look good? (We all know that they're going to.)

I have hopes, I think yes. Hopes. Maybe we'll see a completely redesigned and updated original Megazord, Dragonzord, and Titanus. Maybe we'll see slightly retooled suits. Though honestly I loved the armored look of the original MMPR movie. I'd be happy with those back. This could really work out well.

Someone on my twitter feed said that they wanted Jack Black to be Bulk. :lol

But who could they get as Skull? I can kinnnnda see Adam Sandler fitting the bill.
