Baron as Gaim's Permanent Secondary?
Thought came to mind for Gaim, who would Gaim's secondary rider be? I assume Baron would be the logical choice now, but he still has own agenda in the show. Ryugen/Michy was consider his partner when the show started and when they were both Beat Riders, but with things going as of now in the show It seems like Baron is more of the secondary/anti-hero partner of the show.
|
I go with Baron too. He's likely the one to be marketed as such in the future.
|
I thought Micchy was the secondary rider, but in light of recent events, yeah, its Baron
|
Wasn't Baron shown first when they were promoting the show? I know Micchy has been the proper secondary rider up until this point, but consider this: Katio was cool enough to be given a energy form, Despite no plans originally to give him one, while Micchy likely was going to replace Takatora to begin with. Also, Katio has actually been fighting more and doing things in suit for most of the Yggdrasil arc, while Micchy hasn't properly teamed up with Kouta since the Christmas games.

I see Gaim as being more like Blade in the sense that there really isn't a clear "secondary" Rider so much as tiers of importance. Gaim is the main; Baron, Zangetsu, and Ryugen are right behind him; the energy Riders and Bravo are the next step down; and Knuckle, Gridon, and Kurokage's corpse are hanging in there at the bottom.

Baron hands down, he contrasts Gaim better than Micchy and that is what the secondary rider is. A second hero that challenges the main hero by being the exact opposite and yet at their core the same... also doesn't hurt that Baron is the second rider to appear in the series. :)
|
Well…considering that Baron is getting a spin off novel series? I'm gonna go with him.
|
Let's not forget He himself said Kouta is not his enemy.

Although I would agree, one thing I like about Gaim is there isn't a clear structure to the Riders. Gaim is only the primary Rider as his name is in the title, but everyone else's role and place is malleable. And this is a pretty big deal, as a lot tokusatsu establishes a status quo early and doesn't dare alter for the shows entire run, but Gaim never plays anything safe.

A great point I saw for the show is that each saga kind of sets up a different character for the secondary Rider role.
Episodes 1-11 is about Ryugen as Gaim's go-to guy and a slow look at the secretive side to his character. Episodes 12-19 have some focus in which Kaito becomes less of an enemy and more of an ally, but on temporary terms. And while we're still in the 20-onward saga, there has been a lot of Takatora and a lot of explaining what his deal is and how he and Kota CAN get along, were nothing stopping them. By now, all of these guys have a story going on at high speed, which makes it exciting to see who takes the role first. But going by "who appeared first" rules, technically Baron would definitely be classified as Gaim's true secondary, he meets the "gotta antagonize the hero" requirements as well and makes for GREAT contrast. And while Zangetsu appears an episode earlier, the official site doesn't really seem to officially acknowledge him until episode 4. Plus like it's been said here, they definitely market Baron under that role a lot. It always struck me that whenever you see promotional material for the movies, you hardly see anyone besides Gaim and Baron, to the point I've had friends ask me "Are any of them even in the movie?" |
I would have to go with Baron being Gaim's Secondary, instead of Micchy.
|
Gaim really doesn't fit in with the past several years of Rider formula so it's hard to say, but if you did try to shove it into that mold for comparison I'd say yes that Baron is the closest to the Secondary Rider trope.
|
I would say out of pure having to pick one Baron would be the secondary even though for a while it seemed Micchy was but I definitly think as far as the series goes story wise there isn't a true one Secondary rider since there are so many at this point.
|
guys there is a very simple answer to your question:
if you noticed over the last few years the drives for all secondary riders the driver voice had less of a japanese accent then the main rider's driver in gaim's case its baron because his driver is the only one that fits the description i mentioned |
I'd say Baron as well.
|
I would have to say Baron! Baron has many elements to a secondary rider than Michhy!! Let's be honest here, Ryugen would of been a secondary rider but due to the fact he betrayed Kota (even though he doesn't know about that)! I would have to say that Kaito is definitely the better choice for the secondary rider spot!! I know that most people that watches Gaim said this already but... I want Kota to realize that Michhy is betraying him. He was using the Genesis Drive and pretend to be Takatora. I guess Kaito is right he really needs to be stronger. When I mean "he" I mean Kota

In the beginning, I always found it weird that Baron was considered the secondary Rider and not Ryugen, because those were the days when Kouta and Micchy were straight up allies.
Now that Micchy has basically gone into straight up villain territory and Kaito has become more of a reluctant ally, I think Kaito has the best case, followed by Takatora, depending on how the rest of the story plays out. |
Yeah, I'd love to see Baron as Gaim's new permanent ally...or even Takatora after he gives his brother a sound ass whooping as the original Zangetsu.
But you know who else I'd gladly accept? Bravo. I freaking love Bravo in this show, and I didn't think that I would when he made his debut. |
