What is the most under-rated season of Power Rangers?
With 21 years under its belt, Power Rangers has had many ups and many downs. There are a lot of seasons that I remember people not liking years ago (Lightspeed Rescue, Jungle Fury) that are now super popular and have larger and larger followings.
So what is YOUR most under-rated season of Power Rangers? As in, the season that you don't think gets enough love? |
Under-Rated, I'd say Mystic Force as there's a lot of things that series does right that goes unappreciated.
Now as for over-hated, Samurai. It's not all bad, Dayu and Antonio are arguably two of the best characters in the entire franchise... but since that's pretty much all the series has going for it I can't defend it much beyond that. :lol |
Underrated?
That title has to go to Turbo. I thought Turbo was fun as a kid, and I remember actively enjoying it. Then the internet came along and I found out that Turbo was treated as the scourge of Power Rangers. Being an idiot, I blindly and stupidly joined the hate train with no other reason beyond "If everyone else is saying it, it must be true!" Then I re-watched Turbo a little while back and found myself, once again, actively enjoying it. In fact, I enjoyed it far more than MMPR and Zeo, and realized that the prime argument against Turbo was almost universally "IT'S NOT ZEO 2!" So...Yeah. Turbo. |
RPM for me. Didn't like it a few years ago until I gave it a watch and now I totally love it.

Operation Overdrive. Pretty much other series gets about the right amount of appreciation if not too much

I really can't agree with that statement... |

And from there I will go to Samurai and Super Samurai. Too often I have seen "Megaforce/SMF is bad but at least its not Samurai!". Nope. Samurai was full of problems, but the issues that Megaforce and especially SMF have makes Samurai look like a brilliant addition to the Power Rangers universe. |
Jungle Fury is horribly underrated. It suffers a variation of Goseiger Syndrome: it came after a hated season and before a beloved season, which made folks overlook it.

Hmm.
It's a toss up between Jungle Fury and Operation Overdrive for me. With the birth of Super Shitforce and Super Mega Shitforce, the absolute low points of the franchise (yes lower than Samurai) I think Operation Overdrive at least deserves another look for actually having original stories, actual characters and y'know...money spent on it. Meanwhile I think Jungle Fury is legitimately the best season of Power Rangers, rushed pace and "watered down Gekiranger" be damned. |
Jungle Fury was destined for greatness. It's based off Gekiranger, after all! :p

Power Rangers RPM. And it's not the show's fault. It came at the end of the Disney Era when they really stopped giving a damn, they aired it at 5 in the morning, and gave it almost no promotion. But it's an excellent season... Until they do the cliche "oh Look! That villain you've been fighting all season? She's your sister!" story.

I like to say RPM, but it's quite popular among fans.
So I'll go with Jungle Fury. Back then fans were decrying Casey as the worst Red Ranger in history. Yet I found, surprisingly, that I very, very much enjoyed Jungle Fury. It was fun, exciting, and I liked all the characters. Plus it had an awesome theme song that will forever stick in my head. And besides, I still haven't finished Gekiranger but I have finished Jungle Fury. :lol |
