Before becoming Nijino Akira he was called Zalam. A Shadow Line Kaijin.
He gained his heart of justice after looking at the beautiful rainbow.
To protect the rainbow he becomes ToQ6.

Former bad guy becomes a sixth ranger (in essence)…kind of sounds familiar

Sounds interesting, and definitely makes me think this will happen to certain other Shadows somewhere down the line.

And here I thought that Zed was going to be ToQ6.

I really like this concept. ToQ6's monster design is pretty cool too.

I'm really looking forward to his introduction now.

Okay, enough of that. I like the idea, let's see where it goes, but it also lends volatility to the theory that the Emperor might turn good at some point to. Or turn light into a weapon. With all his shimmering obsessiveness.

Any Sixth Ranger who was once evil could create some interesting albeit predictable storylines. Will he be turned against the others at some point even if it's only toward the finale? Will he be enlarged? Will his "former darkness" be separated from him, leaving him to essentially battle himself? Another matter is how this works for Grita who has no genuine desire to marry Zed. Could she turn to the Rangers for help? Or does Zed's introduction so early mean that Grita will be the ultimate villain?

The questions...the nagging questions. Good Fun.

Based on 6's origin and how "seeing the rainbow" created his heart of justice, I wonder if the same could eventually happen to Zed? After all he can see the shining light in everything. He wants to see it, craves it. Maybe one day he could come over to this side too?

So not only do we get our first orange coloured ranger but we also get our first ever Kaijin turned sixth ranger? Man this gets me all kinds of excited.

Apparently 6 is extremely suicidal due to regret over his previous life. His battle cry is "Is this where I'll die?!"

That is AWESOME. A hero who rushes into every battle like it's his last? Sign me up!

he reminds me so much of genta/gai since most of the sixths since with these writers were pretty much silly/goofy way.

although he's suicidal, i dont think it's going that dark as people expect it to be, probably more of a funny way, since most of the toqger cast has shown funny ways of fighting.

he will die?i doubt that. jin kind of died but for him it as more that the code for his program ran out/sacrifice to stop enter. i cant wait to watch his character develop thought.

Guys, he's already dead! Just like all the others he's the result of somewhere being taken over by the shadows and thus, turned into a cowboy monster!

Jeez, I lost Mike from Ninja Turtles due to the 2012 versions being dumb, plus I can't enjoy Naruto fell apart due to various factors. I'm not sure I want our first orange Ranger being a huge mopey guy.

Still tokusatsu has been known to get dark around the double digit episodes. Here's hoping ToQ6 finds at least some hope in life.

I think Toqg 6 is the first ranger to use a smart phone as his morpher :lol

Will Toq 6Gou become Fan-Favorite? Maybe. Just maybe, why? Because Most of Fan like his design than other Toqger, and have a very dark Tragic Backstory that lead him become Shadow Kaijin I think. He could be a deconstruction version of Genta and Gai because Genta and Gai never have a tragic past and is comic relief but Akira is actually Suicidal Maybe in later Episode, Kobayashi can create his backstory and why he become Shadow Kaijin in first place

To be honest. This is a first Super Sentai show or if not to have a character who is actually Suicidal

Toqger is to my opinion got to be darkest Comedy show because unlike Carranger and Go-Onger which lighthearted show. It actually got Sixth ranger or any ranger trying to kill himself or herself

I think Toqger is more similar to Magiranger and Boukenger because even through those show are lighthearted, it got disturbing moment sometime. Heck! Maybe Toq 6Gou's Backstory (If they included one) is similar to Bouken Silver's Backstory because both of them have regret when they younger.

Q. Akira (Zalam/Zaram) is seeking for a place to die?
A. He regrets about what he has done in the past, so much that the others have mistaken him for searching for a resting place in battle.

I'm all for a bad guy becoming a ranger,but for him to be suicidal just to make him interesting is kinda dark. I mean it still is a kids show for cryin out loud.

Also the reason he becomes a member of the Rainbow Line is kinda dull. He just looked at a rainbow and turned good because of the beauty of it? Wouldn't it be much better if he was related to Zed in some way and was drawn in by the shining of the rainbow instead of the beauty? That's why the generals for the Shadow Line protect Zed from the lights,because it could make him a good guy. That would be 100 times better then what they've explained.

He isn't suicidal. Why do people keep saying that?

He has a ton of regret and thinks he isn't deserving of this new life because he was once an evil creature. There's a big difference there. He wonders if every battle he goes into will be the one where he finally gets what he "deserves" for his past record. But he isn't actively trying to kill himself. He's simply resigned to the fact that one day his evil deeds may catch up with him.

So not suicidal if you ask me, merely resigned that he'll fight to the last breath no matter what.

Then that makes tons more sense. It's an ok plot behind him but still has been done. I think the character is great,and I'm sure he'll be even better on screen,I just wish his backstory was a little more fresh

I actually dropped ToQ but hearing this story makes me want to watch the show again. Suicide is a cheap device to use, so I'm glad they aren't bothering with that, and are instead giving a former evil person who is now a ranger an air of consequence for his actions.

Things in toku are often very black and white, clean cut and simple. There is nothing wrong with that, as these are shows to sell toys to kids but it's nice to hear about a character who'll be existing in a nice between space of grey, giving toku a little more depth.

Not long to go now... Only another couple of fillers

ToQ6 (Nijino Akira, what a great pun) being a Shadow-Line Monster is actually really cool. I can see this being a pretty important part of the show.'

He seems like a really cool character and his desire to forget his dark past is a great contrast to the ToQgers, who want to remember theirs.

Love the suit and the orange is glorious. From what I have seen of BuildDaiOh (from the movie trailer), that looks amazing too.

Do you think Toq 6Gou become fan favorite of Toqger? Why do you think they pick the color of Orange (my second favorite color) than usual Gold or Silver? Do you think older actor is better suited as sixth ranger than younger actor (Example Gai Ikari who is the youngest)
