E3 2014 bets thread
 

All right, since E3 is like a week away and I'm going to be at a videogame camp next week too, I need to get some enjoyment asides from just watching the press conferences.

So, let's have a bet of what's gonna happen at E3. This is for funsies people so no money is involved.

What counts is anything said at the conference and anything Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft specific said that day.

Sony

Big announcements:

Will have a game on the Vita from a old franchise not seen on that console yet.
Sony will announce the PS Vita TV for the US for $99 dollars
Media Molecule's game will be given a title, trailer and rough release date.
Last Guardian is a PS4/PS3 game.
Kingdom Hearts 3 gets a rough release date
MGS 5 proper will be shown and get Playstation exclusive content

Random Shit:
Kingdom Hearts 3, Destiny, Assassin's creed (the next gen one) and the Witcher 3 will be demoed.
PS Vita will get 5 minutes of conference time
30 minutes worth of montages


Microsoft

Big announcements:

Halo 2 anniversary
Fallout 4 trailer
Next Deus Ex teased
Next Gears teased
Microsoft offering a gaggle of free XBLA games to those who bought the Xbone with a Kinect as a sorry.
Perfect Dark gets revived but a different studio is working on it that's not Rare.

Just wanna say: KH3 is not just Sony anymore. It is already confirmed for an Xbox One release as well.

But no, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's talked about during Sony's time.

And isn't the Assassins Creed series cross-platform as well?

When I mean Sony and stuff like that, I meant their press conferences. Usually these press conferences will have 3rd party announcements in them.

And fuck the Xbox One for getting Kingdom Hearts 3 before the Wii U

Seriously though, I do not know what to expect from E3 this year. I just have no enthusiasm for it when none of the game companies are doing anything right now that make me want to go out and buy their stuff. Well, I already have a Wii U, but still. It would be nice to get something that isn't Mario Kart or Smash Bros.

I hope to see a lot of new IPs, especially open world ones, but I don't want them to be online crap.

I also want to see sequels to Deus Ex, LA Noire, Red Dead, Legacy of Kain, Metroid, and Onimusha.

Oh, and same new must own triple A titles to come THIS YEAR!!

Finally, I want to see an announcement proclaiming the end of Milk, I mean DLC and Season Passes. No one likes them. They withhold content from our games but still charge us full price for them without the content, and then make us pay more for it. And then this store exclusive crap has got to stop.

Everybody was giving Nintendo shit for not having games ready for 2013 after the Wii u launched, but everybody is ignoring the fact that the year or so after the PS4 and Xbox One's release is when they caught Sony and Microsoft with thier pants down and have no games ready.

Seriously, Nintendo barely has enough resources to make the Marios,Zeldas, Smashes and Kirbys to put on their consoles, which are staples. What makes you think they're gonna have resources for an F-zero game that nobody in the company is interested in making?

Gamechanger of E3 2014

The western gaming press will be so shocked by the Nintendo digital event and how good it is, it will make them stop being so fucking hypocritical and quit making Nintendo the game company to scrutinize.

Over Metroid Prime. Over SSBM. Over Custom Robo. Over RE4. F-Zero GX was my absolute favorite GC title, and it pains me it's legacy is a mediocre GBA title while other titles continue on regardless of how much their quality drops...

I don't really have any expectations but I do have hopes.

Firstly, with the way BioShock Infinite opened a world of opportunities (literally) I'd love to see more games playing with the concept introduced at the end.

Secondly, I just hope some of the big games make it to PS3. Part of the reason I got a PS3 was Sony themselves saying they want to keep supporting the console even with the release of the PS4 but sadly there have already been quite a few PS4 exclusives (mainly the new Infamous game saddened me as there were two on the PS3 and they used the threequel to launch the PS4 and left us PS3 owners with nothing) and about the most recent game, in recent memory, to get a PS3 release as well as PS4 was Watchdogs.

And finally, I know this isn't really an "E3 thing" but I would like games companies to rethink the whole gaming model. I guess if it makes them money, and stupid people will pay, they won't change it but all the verification passes, where you buy a full priced game but if you actually want the complete version you'd have to pay about twice as much in the online store etc I just think that stuff really stinks. If you charge full price, your game should be complete.

E3 is coming up? Oh sweet, another free month of PSPLus coming my way.

I'm largely apathetic to what Microsoft and Sony are doing at this point. I expect them to boast about sales numbers, talk about new TV/media services. Sony will show a bunch of games that won't release until 2016, most of which will be cancelled and Microsoft will have the same old line up of Forza/Halo/Fable.

Not to say that I expect Nintendo will have anything original on offer, but I'm a lot more interested in what they're doing. So to predict a few things there:

• We'll see a pretty lengthy demonstration of Ruby/Sapphire, similar to what they did for X and Y last year.
  
• Ruby/Sapphire will come with an NFP base for scanning in figures, which will give you access to special promo Pokemon and let you trade Pokemon with others by swapping figures.
  
• We'll obviously see a lot of Smash Brothers, get release dates for both, see whatever single player mode the Wii version has and probably get reveals for every non-secret character. Including the last third party inclusion, which is probably Pacman.
  
• Mario Kart 8 DLC will be announced, along with the usual "first pack is available after this show ends".
  
• Majora's Mask 3DS remake announced, (the western) release date for Hyrule Warrios and the new Wii U Zelda teased.
  
• New 3D Mario game for the Wii U in the vein of Mario 64/Galaxy. This will probably be compatible with the NFP stuff as well.
  
• They'll have a new IP on show for the Wii U and I think it'll be some kind of first person adventure game, similar to the Metroid Prime but without the Metroid licence.
  
• F-Zero, Starfox and Metroid will be absent. At best, we'll see them released as NFP figures.

Prediction: Everyone will declare the sky is falling for Nintendo...oh wait, that happens everyday :lol.

More like hopes for me:

More new characters introduced in Smash Bros. (Like Squirtle, Chrom, Wonder Red, or more like that.)
Figurine DLC like Skylanders for Smash Bros.

A brand new Bioshock Game either continuing after Infinite with Booker still or at least keeping the Lutece's as guides. With either some sort of Underground City or Space Station I think would be awesome possibilities.

More Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV footage and news, hopefully more playable characters in both games.

Actually battle system looks at Mortal Kombat X.

More characters revealed for Lego Batman 3.

Super Hope: A Remake of Chrono Trigger. A sequel of Chrono Trigger.

Super Super Hope: Another sequel to FFVII

Super Super Super Hope: A sequel to FFIX

Super Super Super Super Hope: A sequel to Legend of Dragoon.

More playable characters in Arkham Knight.

More on the Assassin's Creed games.

Hopefully maybe a new Megaman game either continuing forward on either the Mega Man X, Zero, ZX timeline or Battle Network, Star Force timeline.

A new Devil May Cry.

I still would love a FFX Prequel game.

FFV and VI Remakes for the 3DS.

FFIV The After Years the 3D one for the phones comes out on the 3DS's virtual console.

More Skylanders Trap Team Characters revealed.

How can you be over Metroid Prime? They've only done three games in 12 year's time. Plus, we haven't had a new Metroid game since 2007, so Metroid is over due.

You forgot Gears of War in that line up.

It would be nice as I would like to be able to play the game without slow and sluggish menus and annoying controls. I might be able to finish it then.

No interesting in Dynasty Warriors Cash Grab though.

Did you actually read that post or just pick out the first three words? He said F-Zero was his favourite GC title, picking it over Metroid Prime.

I think Other M killed the chances of Metroid being revisited in the near future. I suppose if they admitted how badly they screwed it up with that game and went back to something at least along the lines of the Prime games it could work, but I'm not holding my breath (especially after seeing the heels on Samus in Smash Brothers).

My mistake. I guess I misread it then.

Heels? No, I haven't really paid attention to anything SSB as I would only play the game for about 3 weeks and then move on.

I don't really know what to expect when it comes to Sony. I have hopes, but nothing I'd be willing to bet.

All I want is for Sega to announce a localization for Yakuza 1+2 HD Collection, Yakuza 5, and Yakuza Restoration.

Capcom* announces they've teamed with Toei to bring the world a Kamen Rider Fighting game to go along with Heisei Vs. Showa.

*Sub out "Capcom" with whatever fighting dev you want.

For Sony...I'm hoping for some gameplay and plot details about The Order 1886.

Microsoft...I'm not buying an Xbox One, so I don't really care what they do. Probably Halo 5 trailer or gameplay.

I'm REALLY hoping for a new Persona 5 trailer, but Atlus might save that for Tokyo Game Show, so who knows?

Sega will probably have more stuff regarding Sonic Boom, and a teaser for the game that comes after it...then again they aren't pumping a Sonic game out every year, so maybe not.

I'm hoping Nintendo will show more information regarding Hyrule Warriors.

I also expect some more news regarding Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain...and maybeeeee Rising Revengeance 2.

If I were to really be super unrealistic...Capcom announces Marvel vs. Capcom 5 with Asura as a playable character.

We all know that Capcom is going to announce Street Fighter 4 Super Ultra Mega Edition.

I'm going to defend Matrix and say there's a chance F-Zero could be made. Stranger things have happened at E3.

The MvC series is only at 3, not 4 yet :lol
