PMLG's KR Hibiki Fansub Thread
The point of this thread is pretty obvious... Here is where I'll post updates and stuff about my group's (PMLG-Fansubs) Kamen Rider Hibiki fansub.
Important Information Our potential release schedule will be to have one episode up every 4 days or so, and if we do end up finishing very quickly, we might release multiple episodes at a time. Our typesetting style will be to release one clean script without typesetting, and one with it. We will release episodes in a softsubbed format only, unless someone comes forward and volunteers to either hardsub the episodes themselves, or to teach me to hardsub. The release method will be purely DDL unless someone comes forward to create and seed torrents. Translation Information:

So it seems I forgot to mux in the fonts on the creditless OP (silly me), so I'll have it up soon.
I'm not sure if the same applies for the promo. I'll check that as well. |
Here is the link to v2 of the Creditless Opening:

Looks like I have an excuse to watch Hibiki again. :D
|
What I still really need, is someone to make and seed torrents, or someone to either teach me to hardsub or to actually hardsub our releases.
If you could help with either, pm me your email. We can talk there. |

It's not really Hibiki, but here's the Kamen Rider Blade OP. Creditless, of course. Raws by Bunny Hat.

If you need a QC and just an overall grammar nazi, I'm willing to help out. I've taken up to High School-level Japanese IV, so I can provide as a backup to help interpret dialogue. I'm one of the few knuckleheads that actually devote most of my time on Kamen Rider wiki to make sure the grammar and plot for most things related to Kamen Rider Gaim is correct. I literally have a lot of free time on my hands now, so if you'd like to have just extra help or backup, I'm always here (I can give you my contact info such as Skype, my number, etc) and I have adequate experience with Aegisub (not really karaoke).
I highly recommend using the Source Sans Pro Semibold font for dialogue. It looks superb when it comes to text and it is clean and minimal. It's what I use in place of Aesir's Calibri because I honestly can't stand that font after it was used in W, OOO, Gokaiger, Go-Buster, Fourze (Aesir), and Gaim. So if you plan on working on both a non-fancy effect script and a fancy effect script with a script (with time codes) you are already working with, it might be best to have two people work on the clean and fancy scripts (not translation) as it'd probably seem more efficient and more meaningful that way and it serves as a way for me to QC the script (assuming if you even want me '^'). Also, are you going to mux in two scripts with the ability to switch between clean typeset and fancy typesetting? That would seem the best and most logical way than releasing two seperate releases. Having one mkv with the two scripts is way better and it'd save the unnecessary dual-uploads if I'm interpreting all of this correctly. PS: for the Kamen Rider Blade Opening, the font size is a bit big and a bit squished in the x axis, you can set the scale x% to 90 and have the font-size be about 22. That would make it look a lot nicer than it is now. EDIT: Just saw screenshots on your page, my Blade opening doesn't appear like the one in your screenshots. Is it because I lack the fonts needed for the opening typesetting? PSS: I hope the clean typeset provides not animations, but just a nice, plain font for attacks, dialogue, etc. and isn't overdone like in TVN. It isn't heavy or effect heavy at all, it's just a simple font and it doesn't destroy the actual content being shown. Here are some examples of what I do in my free time for clean, minimal typeset. It's the only way how I can manage watching Gaim with Aesir's script and not explode from the Calibri font: http://i.imgur.com/JuxOmLc.jpg http://i.imgur.com/lT5k8rq.jpg |
Nihon's fonts are one of their best things...
|
Personally, I would use Comic Sans. Just to troll everybody. :lol

The reason the text is like that is because the fonts aren't muxed in... again. If.you really would like to help, you can PM me with some external contact info like Skype or whatever it may be. We can talk there. About the typesetting for Hibiki 01, considering there isn't really attacks or henshin calls, it's just the same font for dialogue as well as the Japanese text. At the end of the episodes, the Karaoke has it's own font. I might take your suggestion about the basic font. EDIT: Hibiki 01 coming at 12:00 PM CST (sometime near there). EDIT 2: I didn't think of having both scripts in one... *facepalm* |

Now I know what I'm doing for April Fools' Day! |
I wouldn't worry too much about a hardsub release. While most people would appreciate it, most people have access to devices that can run the mkv and softsubs fine. If people want to watch on a big-screen TV, there might be a problem there, but I would just invest in a OUYA Android Console (about $100), buy the PLEX app ($5) from the Play Store. This allows you to stream media files to an Android device from your PC.

I silently await the day that a TV show uses Goudy Stout. Or maybe at least Comic Sans.
That'll be the day. |

There'll be a delay of a few hours while we fix some things related to Hibiki 01. It'll be up and ready by the end of the day.
I sincerely apologize for the delay. |

As for the fonts, I, like many others, aren't picky on fonts as it's legible and easy to read at a glance. TV-N's subs (and other groups that go overboard) are not always legible or easy to read. Just keep to a basic font and most people will be fine. |
I was discussing with PikaMaster11 about us doing Kabuto after the Hibiki and Blade, but it seems TV-N has beat us to the chase and acquired either GuSTaVauM's 720p raws or their own and decided to re-release Kabuto. I hope their translation errors are fixed by then.

Awesome, will check it out now!
EDIT: Looks fantastic! Have only had a flick through the episode but Im very impressed. Keep up the good work! |
Grabbing this myself, so much of my experience of the first Hibiki episode rested on the quality of TVNs rips, that I'm happy to rewatch something I've only just seen. Sadly my new cans wont be here until tomorrow so I guess I'll have to deal with my flat TV audio for now.

No, I mean why are there two scripts?
BTW, I glanced through the episode and nice job. Hibiki looks very shiny. |
Just finished the episode. Subs are clear and easy to read and the video quality is gorgeous. I'm so happy to see one of my favorite Rider shows stepping out of the dark ages of 2005 tv rips. I'm really looking forward to rewatching the show along with your new subs.

One has a clean plain typesetting for those that prefer clean fonts, much like Over-Time's. |
So I noticed the project has been silent for a long time (9 days, which isn't really a long time, but whatever). I want to apologize for that and I will promise that the next episode will be out in at most 3 days, depending on my availability, QC's availability, and the upload speed.
If you must know why it happened, it's because I was having real life situations but I hope we'll be able to pick up the pace soon. If you'd like to help, we could use some more publicity. I know a lot of you guys are happy to be getting a non-TVN option but it really seems like a small project right now. (Actually, I could use constant reminders to work on Hibiki because I need it!) |
