Let's finish Subbing Super Sentai!!
 

A guy from the post of episode 25 of Go-ranger over at PMLG said this:

"Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that you inspired me to create a new subbing community where the goal is to finish subbing all super sentai seasons! This is not a subbing group, but a place where they can be formed and we can finish every season with each other's help! I hope you inspired others to help us too"

Oh I would love if JAKQ gets subbed, that is one of the Big Ones I want to watch. (Pun Intended lol)

I'd love it for Gingaman and GoGoV to be fully subbed (Time is in the works via OT) and then for Flashman and Changeman. Honestly, I just cannot get into the Sentai series before Bioman, and even Bioman was iffy for me. The episodes just feel like they drag on longer than necessary. That isn't to say I hate them (unless you are Dynaman), but I found myself unable to watch a lot of them. Of course, this was also raw, so maybe I will enjoy them more subbed.

That's not unheard of at all. Sentai didn't really attempt big stories until around Bioman - well, Bioman was a sort of prototype for that, I think it really kicked into gear with Changeman and Flashman. Those older shows need to be watched sporadically to get the most of them.

Unless you're JAKQ, then you're just golden.

And IIRC, MillionFoldCuriosity, the folks who subbed Megaranger and Goseiger, are doing Ohranger and Gingaman next.

It looks like he got enough people to do Changeman, and they are working on them. They will be scrubbing the Deadfish Subs, using Bunny Hat raws and subbing ep 21 and 25 from the scratch!!

If he on some time got enough people to do Flashman... I will be screaming of hell:rock:

Well for one month ago I wrote to the translator of GoGo V, and he replied this:

"The GoGoFive project is sadly a very complex issue. Like, I am pretty much done translating the show. These past couple of years have been more of a waiting game, waiting to see if my partner can finish editing the scripts and getting the subs released. And apparently real life issues have been slowing him down tremendously. And there really isn't anyone else at this moment to help speed things up. So in the mean time, all I can do is help other fansubbers the best I can with other projects, while I wait for GoGoFive. Hopefully it won't take much longer. Hopefully"

I just wrote to him about the blog... and let´s us see what may be happen in the next months:)

The translator HowlingSnail said that he would be able to translate if there were any German or Italian subs or dubs that existed for the remaining missing Sentai seasons.

And for many hours I looked/surfed though the web to look after some german or italian subs/dubs... and finally I found all episodes of Flashman with italian subs on youtube:cool:

Edit: Well howlingsnail says it is spanish... fuck my life... google translate says it was a italian word. But the good news is that the guy called "someone new" will take on flash after Change after which I found the spainsh subs on youtube for him... and then he said this:

Changeman and Flashman are the two shows I´m the most interested in so these latest announcements make me a very happy Convoy :D

But seriously many people says it is the best sentai of 80´s, it is just incredibly why no one has taken the interest to the show for pete´s sake, well besides Supernova and Deadfish.

I'm actually interested in seeing both Sentais now, Changeman the most since it sounds very appealing.

i'm holding off on getting too excited a lot of talk about actually subbing stuff happens, and we get a few before the cracks start to appear. I hope this works but I guess i'm just to cynical

From the look of the things now, I think personally JAKQ and denziman, will be the last super sentai to be subbed. Even though JAKQ may be the shortest sentai made, people don´t have really have the interest to the show because many has said it is bad, the langauge(slangs and other things like GUIS self has stated when they were doing ep 1 for a friend) are outdated and you really can´t find any foregin langauge dub/sub in the web which I have tried many times.

I know PMLG and Rampage has said that they will like to tackle with JAKQ, but now they has the hands on the biggest sentai goranger which will take like the next years to complete. (They has said that they will release one episode per. week and there are in total 48 weeks in one year, and we are on episode 25= 25+48=73 + minus the ones where they don´t release one.

But if someone has a translator along with a staff of timers and such who want to take JAKQ down, but this is very unlikely but there is a slim chance there will be coming someone out of the dark and to do the show besides PMLG and rampage if somehting don´t happen to them.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.

This won't affect Goranger in any ways since my part (timing) is ahead schedule.

But Million Fold are gonna take it after Gingaman, and Lynxara who is back from work, are ready to deliver more kakuranger as you can see lately. Lynxara is a part of Million Fold, so you are gonna expect some gingaman very soon, but yeah unfornately it are gonna take some time before we can see the first episode of ohranger from them.(next year)

But LFSSS has currently their hands full now with changeman, and after that they are gonna take on flashman. (And acutally Turboranger and Google V because they both got portguess subs and from what I heard the subs for turboranger are pretty good so it is no question that the next one after flashman are turborangerXD)

I like the karaoke effects of your releases, it is the best I have seen in the web when it comes to toku.

The episode of Changeman was fantastic, I'm going to post about in the other thread but the subs were excellent.

Will check out the episode later, but with the "either watch our subs or don't" reaction the group has had to honest criticism I'm not expecting a whole lot from them. Especially since the guy also said as long as you get the gist of the plot what the characters are saying shouldn't matter so much :rolleyes

Well you are gonna expect that the guy and the others in the staff are new in all this sub business.... but yeah still

That "either watch our subs or don't" reaction, isn't something new what I have experinced in the years on sub groups.
I could remember for a long time ago on a sub group´s forum(I can´t really remember the name because it has been so a long time, it was actually when I began to watch toku in the first place), that there was some guys who reported a lot of mistakes and din´t like subs at all, and "the big ones" just told them like the "either watch our subs or don't" reaction just with some harsh words along the way.

(This whole experince remind me a lot of when people start to talking about who is the best whether overtime or tv-nihon):lol

That is true, I just have my doubts about any group that feels that potentially big errors are justifable as long as the gist of the plot is understood. If I personally agreed with that I'd have watched the RRR subs of Timeranger a long time ago.

That said, I'll still at least give them a fair shot.

That makes sense, my problem is that I don't know what isn't correctly subbed or not, I mean I know HK Subs are bad but if there was any mistakes in this version of Changeman I can't really tell.

I'm in the same boat, so it helps to just check comment sections and follow other translators on Twitter. Its fairly close knit community in that someone will usually comment on new projects. For example someone from Imagination Station commented on that episode's release page.

Ah that makes sense, I mean I know when somethings don't make sense when they are obvious though. Ah I should probably start following more of the translators then.

Although, now I'm reading there are a ton of translation errors...

People makes mistake, even the best translator can make mistakes, yeah well what are we gonna expect when we are talking about translating from a portguess dub. But the guys has been trying to contact many translators for the help of the first 8 episode and unsubbed ones (21,25) since the beginning of the blog. But sadly they could not find one and that is why they have to use port dub and using tv-nihon as a cross reference/inspiration.

But now they got a little attention now... maybe when they did find a translator on a later time, they may be re-doing the episodes again.

I am in same boat although I have been watching japanese shows for 9 years and I can sometimes hear if anything is wrong with the subs. (but that is only few) XD

Edit: Well it also depends on if it is live action or anime for me at leastXD

Ah yeah I have been watching for over a year and I can kind of guess when something is wrong too.
