Would you buy SH Figuarts Big Bad Beetle Borgs?
Please answer honestly :)
Why isn't there an "OH MY GOD YES" option?
I would buy because retail releases are easier for me then retail. I also like supporting more toku items here in the US. I also love the show as a kid and I always dig the designs.
If they had nice enough box art I may double dip. As it stands its cheaper for me to get the Japanese versions though.
I will buy Shadow Borg, or whatever his Beet-Fighter name is, when he's released in Japan. The others not so much ... but if they come out here, of course I'll grab them.
I would. Long as they had MMPR style BBB packaging and such, plus it'd save a little on shipping. I'd buy them.
I'm being totally honest when I say I'll buy the Japanese version first. Can't risk it being up in the air for the US market and missing out if it doesn't happen. Plus a packaging difference would kill it for me if that happened. I have some fond memories of BBB for sure, but these would most certainly be B-Fighters to me.
Only if they make red :p
Right now, I'd just get Shadowborg just to repurpose him as General Venjix from Forever Red.
Would be awesome if we got the other Beetleborgs used in that episode as the other Machine Empire generals. |
Yeah I'd get em. They're the Beetleborgs for me. And I have a weird soft spot for Shadowborg.
I answered that I'd buy the Japanese version. Though I'd only want the green one. If it so happens that the JP one is Web Exclusive, and it's regular in the US, I might go for that one instead. But initial answer is I'd get the JP version since it would be out earlier.
No. I never watched Beetleborgs as a kid.

Black Beet will totally double as Venjix though. |
I'm buying it at JPN retail first because my god buying from BBTS from the UK is ffffffkin expensive. I know I should probably support releases in the west, but like I live in the UK where no one cares about us Toku wise and US stores just charge the most RIDICULOUS shipping.
of course I would love to pre-order, but I have no choice but to wait for an American release. I have money in reserve, but that is for knuckle. maybe if I didn't pre-order all of the kikaider ones, but I couldn't pass them up. plus, who could pass up that beetleborgs logo and the eventual metallix.
I fully intend to get the B-Fighters, but if they come over here, I'll get those too. Because that's how much I love these designs.

Hell yeah I would. I've never seen B-Fighter so my only attachment to these designs is Beetleborgs. Plus if Bluefin released them it'd be cheaper than going through NY or Yokatta and I can give two fucks about what packaging calls them.
Nope, I only buy the B-Fighters. But anyone who wants them as Beetleborgs, even if I cant understand why, good luck.
If I knew they were definitely coming to America, my answer is a big 'HELLS YEAH'.
Especially if they make the rest of the Beetleborgs and Beetleborgs Metallix armors. Otherwise, if there is no indication of them bringing them out here, I'll import them. Shame Bluefin never tried to get the S.H. Figuarts figure released in Japan that was used as Ryan Steele's second form in VR Troopers (I can't remember the Japanese name at this time). |

If I knew for an absolute fact there would be a Bluefin release and that the packaging wouldn't be altered, then yes, I would wait. But those factors are simply too tenuous to rely on for an extended period past the Japanese release of the figure.
Say a US release never happened and I'd passed on them, just like previous SHF's Metal Hero they'd be worth well more than retail and very difficult to find. Even now the two Gavan's, Sharivan, & Shaider sell for 5000-6000 yen. And it's been two years since they came out almost. |
I don't care if they change the packaging for the figures. It's the same figure, but in a different box. It's like saying you won't eat a bag of Doritos if they change the bag now.

Huge props to anyone here, if, and when, they get Shadowborg/Black Beet, and pose it in front of Deluxe Serpentera if they have it.

But in any case the heart of the matter is when or even if the figures would come here. The months playing the waiting game to find out whether Bluefin would have distribution rights for them means I could miss the order window in Japan. As I said previous Metal Hero figures have doubled in price after release and I'd rather not have to go through that because I hoped they'd be released here and then they weren't. Id love it if Bluefin could get them for people who have access to their services here but I just can't take that risk personally. |

Last September, Bluefin did talk about seeing S.H.Figuarts releases from Big Bad Beetle Borgs.
http://henshinjustice.com/2013/09/12...a-possibility/ Almost a year later, we finally got them. Bluefin seems to know what's being made in Japan. So far, they said nothing about them. Licensing takes some time to happen, so I will have fingers cross. If they don't release them then I won't cry over it. I will likely pre-order them on the last minute on CSToys. I doubt the demand for them will be huge on the after market like the Kyoryuger figuarts or the S.H Figuarts of SSj Vegeta. |
As most people have been saying, if I definitely knew they were getting released here via Bluefin I'd just wait for that release. Even if it had different packaging, I use my boxes primarily for transportation and accessory storage purposes.
But like Den-O said, there's also the fear that I'll miss the order window waiting for a Bluefin release, and watch the price skyrocket to Kamen Rider Gai levels of absurdity. However, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a point in time where BBB was actually more popular than Power Rangers, and they only cancelled it because of lack of footage? Granted, ratings for Power Rangers were on a decline at the time BBB came out, but that's still something. |

I actually starting watching BBB off Netflix recently after having not seen it since it's run in the late 90s. It's hokey as hell, but it still has a certain goofy charm to it much like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers does.
I actually have just got to the point where Shadowborg and White Blaster have been brought in. I really hope we can get the Figuarts stuff brought over here. I also hope they'll reveal they're making the remaining three characters (Red Striker, Green Hunter, White Blaster) and if successful, the Metallix armors. |
This is my hope....since Sentai seems to be on hold.
Sure Ill get them from Amazon if I find the price reasonable, plus can't beat be free shipping.
Bluefin releasing them would be the only way I would be willing to buy them. I just have enough stuff to import that B Fighter is not on my list of priorities. Hell, outside of the main four, even Gaim is not on my priority list and I love that show. B-Fighter has no chance.
