What do you do with boxes?
As much as I like to keep each and every single box, unfortunetly storage space is starting to become quite limited for me and it's getting to the point where I'm forced to get rid of a lot of'em.
That's what got me wondering: What do you guys do with boxes when it starts reaching that point? |
I'm not at that point, but I've already decided what to do. The simplest thing is to buy big tupperwear bins and store them in them. If I cleared enough room/moved stuff around, I can easily fit two into my room. If that ever gets to being not enough, then it's time to simply start tossing the boxes, but only for items that you don't need them for. Something like Figuarts, Figmas, and those type of things you should keep. But something like a model kit box, one for a henshin device, or something trivial like that is easily toss-able.
I keep all my figure boxes on shelves. Eventually, I put them into a bigger box so I can just put it into my closet and all of them are out of the way.
I keep my boxes just in case.
I only have four boxes right now, one of which is pretty tiny since it's a darin.
But it is starting to get a tiny bit cluttered. I could get another shelf to go in here but that probably won't be for a while. If it comes to, I plan on displaying them from the side, like a book. I think having all the boxes lines up like that would be pretty good. I don't want to get rid of them because a. I like the art. and b. I like keeping the accessories in there instead of a baggy or something. |
I don't keep the boxes. I have tupperware bins I keep the figures in and ziplock bags for the accessories/extra hands. The boxes are just clutter that I don't need or want.
At least I recycle them... |
For the most part i keep them around, especially if they're boxes for TCG starter decks because they look neat on a shelf.
Figuart boxes I keep stacked on top of my desk so I can remember how much money I throw at them.
DX Item boxes I keep on top of my TV shelf. I like to display boxes as much I do the figures :lol |
I try to keep my boxes, especially figuarts to hold accessories. Then the DX boxes to put back the toys so they are safe.
I only keep the boxes for Figuarts and Figma, and I store them in large plastic containers. They don't really have any value to me, The only reason I keep them around at all is in case I ever want/need to sell any of them. If it ever gets to be too much I'll just throw them out.
I have a 5 drawer dresser I keep all my boxes in.
I keep my Figuarts, AC and Bandai of Japan DX boxes, but I have thrown some of them away. Everything else, like Transformers or LEGO I toss away.
When it comes time to decide if I want to throw a box, I usually think to myself, "Do I see myself selling this?" or "Do I mind selling for less?" |
Oh boxes...
I guess technically I've kept boxes for forever if you want to count all those canisters from BIONICLE... But actual cardboard boxes? I've always just gotten rid of them. Until I started buying Japanese imports... Now I keep all of them. They're just so pretty. And convenient for storing all of those tiny accessories. It got a biiiit out of hand when I was at home... Had to just start piling them up on the floor and they took over a corner and a lot of real estate. It was actually pretty darn annoying. But now I've got a huge walk-in closet so... They're all up on the top shelves there and wonderfully out of the way. And I'm so short I'd never have use for them otherwise heh... But no, I don't throw them away. |

I keep all my figuarts and japanese imports boxes. I used to keep all my TF blister box, and voyager boxes but I threw them away since they weren't as pretty.
Throwing away an import toy's box is sacrilege.
Depends on the box. Something like Gaim Arms Change boxes I toss, Figuarts Boxes I keep to store parts in, and BoA Megazord boxes I toss.
I keep Figuarts boxes, mainly because I tend to jump around between college and back home a lot and if there's any figures I want to bring with me to either place, being able to place it into a box and not worrying about precious figures getting destroyed in my luggage makes things much easier.
Pretty much everything else gets tossed. |
Put them in a bigger box and stash them.
I keep my actual box-type boxes, Figuarts, Arms Change, Figma, etc. I'm not sure what to do with my candy toy Lockseed boxes or the one for my Apple Lock set, though I'm definitely keeping the card.
I live in an apartment, so I'm going to move again sooner or later. As such, I keep my boxes store in my closet because I'm going to need t pack the figures up eventually. The biggest pain is going to be putting every figure away though. But I would rather do that than take a chance and someone getting broken.
Of course, the only boxes I would get rid of after I move would be the Figuart Zero ones. There are just too many accessories in the regualr Figuart boxes to just get rid of them. |
I keep all of my boxes for import toys, even stuff as trivial as sofubis, since my import collection isn't quite that big yet.
I keep them, just so I can repackage them for transport or if I ever intend to sell them.
And it would feel pretty bad to rip these sweet boxes apart. They may not be the real deal, but I'm amazed how much detail and work they put into these. Makes sense of course, packaging is the first and sometimes only thing customers see, but its still pretty cool to see all the little details and amazing artwork they put on some of these boxes. Some packaging is so good, I use it for display alongside the figure and it works out pretty nice. |
I keep most of my boxes. I keep too many boxes.
Super Sentai DX mecha? No brainer on keeping the boxes because they add to the value. With figmas & SHF figures, also a no brainer since the boxes are small and help store accessories. Modern Transformers? That's where it gets tough. I was keeping most of my Voyager & larger boxes, but there is so much dead space in them. Just recently I purged my Voyager-class boxes. Similar with modern (Samurai and onwards) Power Rangers Zord boxes. So much wasted space, so I started tossing them. |
Whatever boxes I get I keep, I've got Ranger Key packaging in with other random shit in a big box, I've got Figuart boxes in a big box. Also Megazord boxes stuffed in my closet.
I keep Figuart boxes really only for the off-chance that I might want to sell any of them. Gundam boxes, on the other hand, have absolutely incredible box art, and I keep them for that reason. Anything else with cool box art (the Lion Mechazord, for example) I also keep.
For SHF's I keep all of them for parts storage. For domestic toys I'm far less likely to keep the boxes but on occasion i do.
Given the Figuarts boxes as well as Figma are designed to be storage spots for your figures if need be, I keep them and storage my figures when I need to inside.
For japanese toy boxes I'll store them in my closest. I've got a mountain of Figuarts/D-Arts boxes in there (which would be easier if there weren't non-uniform sized boxes). Everything else I'll hold onto in case I have a problem and need to make a return for a week or two and then throw it out. I have been trying to convince myself to throw out DX role play toy boxes though since they take up so much space.
I keep pretty much all the mecha and roleplay boxes from I get from Japan. Anything like the gaim lockseed boxes gets recycled.
I ordered a bunch of those free Spider-Man USPS shipping boxes and used them to store figure boxes.
