Super Sentai 2015, 40th Anniversary
 

By guessing, what do you think will be the new theme for next year? When will they announce the theme for the next series? Will they treat this as a 40th anniversary season (because GoRanger began in 1975) even though it's only the 39th series? If they go that route do you think they will just reboot GoRanger or come up with a new theme or recycle themes again?

I'm going of by gokaigers being the 35th sentai here go busters was 36th kyuruanger was 37th and current sentai what is now is the 38th next ear will be the 39th and we want get 40th till 2016

A thought I had was that they might do a Gokaiger 5 Years After or something along the lines of that... but with Yui Koike (Ahim) changing talent agencies, that might be a bit of a challenge.

Honestly, I am tired of this anniversary stuff. It was incredible at first (OOO and Gokaiger), but now it is getting out of control. I think it is time to not celebrate anything for Sentai until its 50th.

Of course, I also think with the way Sentai has been, they should put Sentai to rest until its 50th anniversary.

Go back to doing it subtlety like Gao and Bouken did. A normal series and then with a "Vs. Super Sentai" movie rather than just something with the previous team.

Doing anything big until the 50th will just cheapen the effect.

While it's clear that Gokaigers formula made for the best anniversary, you can only blow that load so many times. It was fantastically respectful and aware of what came before it, it had a cool gimmick, and was really fun. But you can't jut do over that gimmick again for the 40th. Which begs the question what would you do for another anniversary so close to this one? I agree with Zeo that a more subtle homage with a VS Super Sentai movie or two would do just fine. It clearly worked twice before.

All the MOTWs take design cues from the past suit designs the way Boukenger's MOTWs took after past mecha designs?

I know that this is just wishful thinking, but giving the AkibaRanger a full season, and letting them finally earn their official placement as the 40th Sentai would be a pretty satisfactory anniversary for me. (:

Randomly retconning Ninja Captor into a Super Sentai (to make the 40th annivesary justified in 2015) would be a big surprise, as well (though, I wouldn't care too much for this).

I think that it's a bit too early to see the Gokaiger again, but maybe having Marvelous step in for the late AkaRed would be neat.

I had this idea a little while ago of them doing a youkai (ghost) theme since it will be the 40th and 4 in Japanese sounds like the word for death. I know I say this idea a ton, but it would be a cool idea. They could exclusively enlist the help of the sentai rangers that have died in the past (or just their suits and powers) as the story progresses. I think five have died and not been replaced (Black Condor, DragonRanger, AbareKiller, Time Fire, and Beet Buster) and that is where the main five rangers can get their power ups from. Instead of the team all getting them at one time, they could each help satisfy each ghost's final wish or something and be rewarded with a power up. And if Akira (ToQ6) dies like he plans, it could be a power up for the sixth ranger. It could be an entire season based on ghost hunting or helping good ghost rest in peace.

TLDR - Sentai Ghostbusters.

I think the theme will be music, they'll announce it about near toqgers end, they'll probably treat it like decade where it was he was the tenth heisei rider but the 25 rider all together, I think they'll mix in new themes and old themes.

All you need to do is slap the "Super Sentai 40th!" sticker before the intro and then proceed to completely ignore it.

By making a new anniversary series every 5 years, by the time we reach the 50th, it would turn what should be a gigantic milestone into just another commodity.

Toei likes to do anniversaries by numbers then years unlike Kamen Rider. The 40th Sentai season won't happen until 2016. I doubt we will get anything big for a while. My guess we might get some crossover special with the red rangers as a V-Cinema release.

I think a Goranger movie could work, but Gavan and Kikaider didn't seem to do that well at the box office. I won't mind a animated Goranger movie or OVA based off of the manga.

What would they do about KiRenger, though? The actor is deceased, while his replacement's character died in canon. A movie wouldn't be the same with one of the members gone, if you ask me. :\

Well, they could do what Hurricaneger did, but I didn't like the idea of a blatant replacement.

Something in the line of Kamen Rider Taisen would be good:
Super Sentai Taisen: Rangers vs Senshi (pre-zyu+dairanger+go-busters+toqger+2015 sentai+2016 sentai)

When I mean by a Gorange movie, I mean a movie similar how Kamen Rider: The First. A more modern and darker retelling of the original show. Also Naoya Makoto is still alive. It won't surprise me if he does a cameo in a anniversary special or movie. Gokaiger would be five years old by 2016, so it hasn't been that long.

As much as I would like a Goranger reimagining too, Kamen Rider the First the Next and Kikaider Reboot have not been so hot in Japan that I am skeptical about it currently.

The most I expect from the 40th anniversary is the 2016 Super Hero Taisen movie having a plot more focused on the Sentai side. But other then that...

Oh boy! I wish that Super Sentai 40th Anniversary theme is College! Super Sentai have them in high school but why they hasn't done College theme? It will be called Super Sentai University.

Gokaiger S2, OOO needs more Ahim.

I do hope for some figuarts of the classic teams. We're getting Akaranger soon, so I hope they finish the rest of the Gorangers next year if Akaranger sells well.

Luke is the better one in my opinion. And I would be down with an insect theme, but it would have to be done properly. Would it be serious or comedic?

It can be serious if they try I bet. I think something on par with Shinkenger in terms of tone and mood would work.

I could see another season with the Shinkenger tone being successful. From what I understand, most audiences liked that show, but the more serious tone, simplistic toy line, and other factors of Go-Busters led to its demise.
Hopefully we start hearing mumbles and grumbles in about two months and get to see the new team in the Kyoryuger vs ToQger movie in January (if that is when it comes out)

More Gokaiger is ALWAYS a good thing in my book. :D

I think they should just keep the 40th anniversary low-key and have the 40th Sentai team either be an oblique homage to the Gorangers or just be a theme that Super Sentai hasn't done yet.

It won't surprise me that they do Ninjas again since it been over a decade when we got Ninjas. Ninjas are popular in both Japan and the US.
