Power Rangers Hero Portal

AKA: Saban and Bandai wants in on the Skylansers bandwangon.
Seems like the games are built into the controler, rather than needing a major platform to use, at least according to Ranger Crew. Figruines will be 9.99 each. |
|
This thing looks obscenely cheap.
|
Im having an OCD attack because of the yellow rangers head!

Oh, I can't say this is surprising. The TMNT one just came out a couple weeks ago.
|
Will the red ranger have the yellow rangers head?
|
That Gokai Yellow's head actually makes me physically upset.
|
|
Yeah, these figruines just look strange, not just Yellow.
It feels like they couldn't decicde if they wanted to go for a chib aesthetic or not. |
This is going to crash and burn in the most spectacular of ways.

When I saw this on Facebook I was excited. I thought "Yea, finally I'll be able to play an MMPR game on my PS3!" And I was looking forward to collect little Skylander/Disney Infinity statues. But no. Now I see it's one of those cheap all-in-one things you plug into the TV and looks like something they'd try selling at a discount store. I'm.. offended, to be honest. I'm offended.

*SIGH

I love the way Yellow has Reds upper body. :lol

We must put a stop to this before it's unleashed on the world!!!

I think that this is too little, too late. Skylanders were a fad and I'm surprised they were even able to milk three games out of the series. All of the 'new' figures in my area shelfwarmed foe the longest time and are now being drastically clearanced off. I think that the majority of kids, but mostly parents, are done with the 'collectible figure' video games.
Done right, this could've been really cool. I personally would have went the 'Giants' route and had small Ranger figs at the $8.99 pricepoint and larger Megazord figs for around $15. Put enough time and effort into the sculpts and I'm sure a lot of people would have bought them just to collect and not even play. |

We need Saban and PR to take a massive hit in sales so they'd up their game, rather than do what they did with MMPR in the 90's and slap the franchise on everything. Quote:
Shame. |

This is embarrassing. BOA please stop.
|
A lot of people aren't realizing that this isn't just Power Rangers. There is a Turtles one and possibly others. Plus this is not Bandai.
|
wow thats just..... wow

It's not BOA? Who's making it?

Oh jesus.....
The fact that all of the helmets have the spikes on the visors from Red's helmet makes it look like they don't know what they're doing |

The thing about Skylanders is that the kids who originally got into them are aging out. The original sets were release in Oct. 2011. That's more than enough time for kids to "get over" that obsession.
Now there's competition from Disney Infinity. And that brand is entering it's 2.0 stage in a month or so. On top of that, Nintendo's set is due to come out at some point in early 2015 (?) so this set with MMPR is going to have a LOT of competition. But that doesn't get to what really concerns me. The game. Bandai of America hasn't proven that they can make a decent game to go along with these figures. Hell, most of the games they produces are terrible. And if the game isn't fun these things won't sell. At all. |

This looks pretty terrible, it's obviously just a cheap attempt to cash in on the popularity of these types of figure-based games. It's such a poor attempt though, I can't imagine it will be successful against the vastly superior competition of Skylanders, Disney Infinity and soon Nintendo.
|
When I saw the Rider platform and figures, I had some high hopes for PR inclusion or something. Be careful what you wish for I guess?
|
What's sad, really sad, about this? If they'd just put some effort into it they would've had a gold mine on their hands. Make it like Skylanders and Disney Infinity, release it on multiple platforms, put some damn effort into the figures. Even if I never bought the game, if they put some damn effort into the figures you can believe I'd have bought some.

The biggest issue with this? It's not even gonna be a real game... :( If they had gone the whole nine yards with this and made it a true game for the legitimate platforms, It would probably be worth the typical "Skylanders" price tag. I can hold out hope for a 3DS title that uses the "Key Scanning" feature of the ranger keys to unlock additional features earlier, like characters or stages...
