Is DJ Sagara an Overlord?
Think about what we know.
We've seen Roshuo knows, and as experience with, Sagara. Sagara is capable of creating brand new Lockseeds. And from what we saw in this last episode Kouta was able to make a new one because he is becoming an Overlord. He used some sort of power to test Kouta before he could snatch the Fruit Basket LS from off the table. It's reasonable to assume that because he can travel back and forth between Helheim and our world so easily that he can create Cracks. Otherwise he'd be constantly waiting for one or sneaking through Yggdrasil's before it was destroyed. And The Mysterious Girl knows Sagara and exactly what he's capable of powerwise. Because she confronted him after Kachidoki Gaim destroyed Yggdrasil's superweapon. With what we know, and what we can reasonably assume, is Sagara an Overlord? |
I don't think so. The fact the Overlords keep referring to him as the snake makes me think he's a third party that led the linymf the Golden Fruit in the first place.
Gaim thankfully hasn't gone overboard on the whole biblical imagery thing but signs are definitely pointing toward to Sagara being the tempter. |
I rather think he is the last survivor of either the last world that was devoured before Helheim or any other world before then. As already said, he is called "snake" by the Overlords, maybe because he led them to their doom by telling them about the fruit, like he did with the humans of our world. The powers he possesses could be granted by the fruit, Kouta begins to develop similar powers like creating lockseeds in the same way as Sagara does.
He could be someone tied to the fruit, who has begun to see its way as a game. Maybe he is the very first one to hold it or even its creator. |
Id say he just goes from wherever the forest goes. Maybe one of the original inhabitants of whatever world it came from? He just goes to a different world to see if someone can handle the temptation, or be ridden with its power.
|
He could also be a physical manifestation of the Fruit itself. A being created by the Fruit, which has been said to create Life, to test/tempt people into using it.

i all ways thought he was king at first

I think he could be the creator of the golden fruit, the one who brought it into existence. And that he is cursed to follow it, for eternity. He can be freed, if the fruit is used for a greater good instead of a selfish wish. And that’s why he's chosen Kouta, because Sagara believes he will make the right choice. |
I think that Sagara might be the one that created the forrest in the first place. And I believe that he is trying to test sentient races once they reach a certain level. If one were to look at everything that was said about the linymf, they reached a certain level similar to ours once the forrest invaded.
Sagara seems to pick one person he thinks might be able to pass his tests and then keeps pushing them. Kind of like GLaDOS but less malevolent. So what I'm saying is that I think Sagara is 'God' testing different races. |

Sagara is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. He has everything under control, everything according to plan. It makes me want to know so much more about him.
Is it Saturday yet?! |

Sagara is definitely one of the most interesting mysteries of the show, I'm really interested in eventually learning what his deal is. From what we've seen of him, he mostly reminds me of Kyubey from Madoka Magica in the sense that he's this enigmatic figure that finds individuals he sees as having great potential and tempts them with a power that he provides, and ultimately this power leads to the individual's loss of his or her humanity. Not surprising since they're both from the same writer, but it will interesting to find out what exactly Sagara's motives are.
EDIT: Added spoiler tags just in case there's anyone who might want to avoid Madoka Magica spoilers since what I mentioned is a significant plot point. |

I think Sagara is an Overlord, and is somewhat similar to Lapis, in the sense that they can assume a human form.

After seeing Kouta recreate the Kachidoki lockseed, my guess is that Sagara is just like Kouta. The last person to get the golden fruit and choose to save his own world over himself and became stuck in Helheim until someone else chooses the same decision which would then result to him being freed and the new chosen one to be stuck in Helheim in his place thus continuing the cycle.
|
technically kouta didn't create or recreate the LS, he fixed it, which doesn't seem that far from overlord type powers.
i think sagara is more of angel(Lucifer), other Mai is another higher angel watching over everything not interfering while Sagara manipulates. |

No, he is the snake that gave Eve the apple that got her and Adam kicked out of Heaven.

Honestly it's impossible to make heads or tails of what the hell is going through Sagara's head. But right now I'm about 80% certain he has something to do with Grapenut going full raisin next episode. |

I think that fits too good. Ryouma clearly built up his interest in Kiwami and the golden fruit, I think he will use Mitsuzane as a test subject. He will cut out a little part of the fruit and use it. That’s also an explanation on why the lockseed causes pain, its not properly created and unbalanced, unlike Kiwami. Maybe Sagara pops in to help, but I doubt it. |
I thought it was pretty much confirmed at this point that Sagara alone is the one who will give the Lockseed to Micchy...

Well, episode 42 answered a question here.
He's Helheim itself. |
