So, do we still hate Tokkyuger?
Or is it a good example of don't-judge-a-book-by-it's-cover that we will most likely forget when the next season comes out?
I'm definitely enjoying the show's themes of friendship and child innocence. It also gives me an "Ano Hana" vibe, being about a group of childhood friends that are all grown up, but were separated after a major tragedy occurred. |
Well, I'm still loving the heck out of it.
|
If nothing else, ToQger has been a consitant show.
Unfortunetly, it's been consistantly meh to above average. |
I gave up on it after episode 5 and have no interest in every going back any time soon.
|
Was never really interested in it in the first place, but I don't hate it.
|
I've fallen behind a bit, but I still enjoy it.
|
Never watched it and have no interest in doing so. I like trains, but the train aesthetic seen in ToQger doesn't resonate well with me, mostly in the mecha. It's really hard for me to get invested in a Sentai if I don't like the mecha designs.

I drop out on episode 6 because the show got old fast and I don't care what was going on. Five or Six episodes is good enough to be a story arc where you fresh out all of your characters and see where the plot was going next. Compare to Kyoryuger, ToQger feels lackluster. I hope for something good in 2015.
|
ToQger, not "Tokkyuger".
It's been a bit slow but mildly enjoyable. Certain aspects of it I enjoy specific characters like Schwartz at least. But on the whole the show is bit tedious. |
I'm having a good time with the show. It's really fun, for me at least, and while I can see this sort of thing rubbing some fans the wrong way, I really like childlike antics. Although Right/Raito can be a nuisance.
|
I don't hate it. I still want the toys, I still like Wagon, I just can't get motivated to watch the show. I'm.. I guess indifferent?
|
I hung in until i saw ToQ-6 and i pretty much gave up after that. I was never feeling the train gimmick or costumes from the start, but was willing to give the show a chance. I can't say that i hate it. I enjoy the Shadow Line designs ( particularly Madame Noir ) and find them to be the most intimidating looking Sentai villains of the last 5-6 seasons or so.
It's just not my cup of tea as far as Sentai goes. Add this to my list of partial watched shows ( Geki , Bouken , Go-On , Magi , Deka ) |
I get why ToQger isn't for everybody. I felt like it didn't get really good until the episode with Mio's imaginary friend, which was episode 14. Some would rather the show be good instantly rather than waiting over 10 episodes for the good stuff.
Then again, my taste in Tokusatsu has always been questionable. I enjoyed "Kamen Rider Wizard," and found "Shinkenger," "Gokaiger," and "Kamen Rider Gaim" to be overrated. The only toku shows where my opinion matched everybody else's was "Jetman," "Kyoryuger," and "Kamen Rider Double." |
Wait, we hated Toqger? :P
No honestly, despite my initial reaction to the designs being: "What on earth, are you kidding me?", as soon as I could get a glimpse of the actual show-designs instead of just toy photos and as soon as I've seen the cast, I was totally in love with the show and I still am. Kobayashi is doing a great job so far and the acting is really good. I usually enjoy Toqger, except for one or two episodes so far. |
First series that gives us a revival of Rita and Zed, and no one likes it. Go figure.
(That's a joke, since Grita is Rita in my book, and Zed is...well, Zed) It's a fun show. We got the wacky one last season, and the awesome one the season before that, and the serious one before that. Know your Sentai plot timetables! Serious Season > "Anniversary" Season > Wacky Season > Funny/Kiddie Season > Cultural In Joke Season > Serious Season > Repeat. Plus where else will you get such amazing screencaps like my signature? |

I enjoy the show. I have been staying with it since it debuted and I am loving it. The Hyper Ressha episode was kind of lame though
|
I don't know why, but I just fell out of touch with it. It's not really the trains. I don't know what it is.
I don't hate it, just indifferent. :/ |
I still like it.
|
I didn't care for the first episode (not really a fan of post-Timeranger sentai in general though), but I heard nothing but good things about it until this topic came out. Huh
|
Everyone is going to have some qualms with any sentai season. Like in Kyoryuger, although I did watch the show from beginning to end, I did not like how the entire season was focused on only one ranger. Some did not like Go-Busters because of its tone and other have gripes about Gokaiger and so down the line.
Just a part of any fandom |

I don't hate ToQger at all! I'm still on the Trainbow! :D
|
i love train sentai and etc
|
I stopped watching the show back around the time Gaim ended. Nothing wrong or bad about it, I was just finding it kinda boring. I may go back and finish it at some point (but probably not).
|
I always liked toqger but I do think that it's a freaking ridiculous half the time

I'm still enjoying it for the most part.
|
I loved it then the twenties came and those were a bit tough but when the revelations revealed in the thirties came I am absolutely into it now. I also think that with the revelations I know now I'd probably enjoy the show more from the beginning.
|
I've enjoyed it so far, but then again this is my first sentai, and I've only really watched what we've got once through, so I don't exactly have the best perspective on the subject.
|
I like it but this is the first Sentai I've watched as it goes along (well, from about 20 onwards) and I have pretty low standards.
The fact that it's utterly ridiculous and very light in tone is something that I can see some people wouldn't like but it's nice to have a lighthearted comedic series sometimes. |
For every 9 episodes 1 is about forwarding he main story. Then you have to wait another 9 for the story to continue.
The train fights are totally worth watching it alone. For the record I do still watch it and I am 1 episode behind atm. |
Following on from my older comment: I'm not quite as enamoured with it as I was a month or two ago, but I still think it's a strong series and would count it as one of my favourites. It's a lot better than people give it credit for.
|
I never hated it & still enjoy it, but it is not going to be in my Top 5 of Sentai series.
|
If nothing else, ToQGer has been a consistant episode with nothing I can think of that's really terrible, or really great either.
I still think it's sad that we're half way into the show and Right and the others still can't lay a finger on the Shadow line generals... |

At this point, I absolutely love ToQger at least as much as any other Sentai.
I think it really had it rough coming after 3 shows that have really dedicated fans, and it was admittedly pretty rough at first, but in general I think it improved a bit every episode, and hit a point of legitimate quality around the time Akira showed up. There was a point in episode 30, when there's a 3-way fight between Schwarz, the other villains, and Right, where I realized ToQger actually had a lot to like about it. The villains are really interesting in that they don't simply exist around the heroes like usual, but have their own plotlines going on. The ToQgers themselves are maybe a bit flat, but they compliment each other as a group nicely, and what personality they do have is really well-conveyed through both the writing and some of the best suit actor body language I've seen outside of Kamen Rider. tl;dr; It's come a long way from this |
^I agree, the show has improved since it's debut and I think it is going to continue to improve. The villains remind me of Hetman with their own stories and feuds; it is nice that they don't just sit around and brood over how to stop the heroes.
