The Season You Wish They'd Reboot
 

Here's the hypothetical. Saban announces tomorrow that he's going to Reboot a single season of Power Rangers. Now this season can be from either Saban Brands original run, their new run, or Disney's run. For the sake of this we'll also say that it'll be re-shot with 100% new footage for all scenes.

So then. What season should be Rebooted, why, and what would you change to make it better? What would you keep?

Turbo, Operation Overdrive or Lost Galaxy.

I personally would prefer each season be left alone the way it is but if I had to pick one... I'd give Turbo a redo. Make the story stronger and have a better reason as to why everything was switched around or at least pace it better. I'd also have it that the Zeo team kept their Zeo powers and Dametria recruited the Turbo rangers so that they could replace Zordon and the Zeo team as earth's protector after they were called off to Eltar. Zordon and Alpha going as normal but the Zeo rangers coming with them to guard them.

Turbo, simply for better explanations of everything.

Reboot Super Megaforce. Make it a completely separate 40+ episode season fully-adapted from Gokaiger, no Goseiger footage whatsoever.

Megaforce. The first thing I'd change is the name, but even if they left it and did radical changes to everything else I'd be happy.

The story would be the first thing to go. There are ways to combine Goseiger and Gokaiger to make it work, and what's sad is Toei did all the work for them. You start with Megaforce.

It can start exactly the same. Troy can still have his visions, which they never explained and seemed to have forgot about completely, about the Great War that's coming. And keep Vrak.

First Vrak, who announces himself as already as Prince of the Royal Fleet, works with mercenaries. The Warstar Militia. They, of course, fall to the Power Rangers and he's forced to take drastic measures. So he creates Mutants. Hoping their power will overwhelm the Rangers. Gosei, who you do not make a giant damn Tiki, knows they need help. So he takes his robotic helpers and creates two new Robots. Data Knight (Datas) and Robo Knight. And they begin helping the Rangers.

There was no excuse for keeping Datas out of Megaforce. His character was perfect for the kids. Perfect.

The Mutants fall and this brings us to Metal Alice. I'd keep her the same as she was in Megaforce originally, she was perfect too. The Rangers, needing more help, get aid from a mysterious stranger.. Phantom Ranger. Who delivers to them the Miracle Zords. And warns them a greater evil is coming.

Vrak becomes desperate when a messenger arrives from his brother's fleet, asking for answers why Earth hasn't been conquered yet. So he alters himself. Becomes Nega-Vrak (Brajira) and attempts conquering the world through the power harness from the Eclipse. Robo Knight is destroyed in the battle. Sacrificing himself to save Datas, who is later reprogrammed into Polytron. A small robotic Parrot.

When Vrak is defeated the Armada arrives and begins their attack on Gosei first. Gosei's base is destroyed, their power is destroyed, but Phantom Ranger saves their lives. Tells them there is always hope.. and sometimes you need a pirate to save the world. He hands them the Buccaneer Morphers and the Skyship Jolly Ranger (Jake names it, they all laugh). And they live on the run. Meeting Rangers of the past who remind them what being a Ranger means. And that when it comes time they'll all return to help. Harkening back to Turbo, Phantom Ranger grants the wish of a boy who wants to help the Rangers. Giving him the Silver Morpher.

The finale is The Call. As promised every Ranger arrives to help. In person or through VO's. It's possible! We lost two Rangers, but they'd be there in spirit. All of them taking part in one final epic battle to save Earth.

I'd have them reboot a series swimming in potential but got shafted by poor decisions. Turbo.
Drop Demetria, Alpha 6, Elgar, and the Zeo rangers. Let TJ and the others be there from the very beginning (Yes, even Justin), and let the Phantom Ranger be more of a character.

It's depressing as fuck how we fans are better at ideas for that show than the actual production team.

I would have brought in GoseiGreen as either a Mentor that lost his morphing ability, a tragic character rebuilt into RoboKnight, or the guy who discovers, liberates and recruits the Alien pirates under Vekar's control (pirates who had been tasked with stealing every Power that could oppose the Armada.

The team would either take over from the Mega cast (taking the Megaforce moniker because they didn't really have one anyway) and begin fighting back with the very powers they stole, or hand their Morphers over to the Mega cast as new power sets (Jake gets Green because there wasn't a Black pirate, a fact he doesn't really mind because Gia, despite being Yellow, said she really likes Green).

And the Green Pirate would be established as a Xybrian because why the fuck not?

Instead of a reboot I would like Saban to make Power Rangers season based on pre-Zyuranger Sentai seasons.

I agree with this guy, super Megaforce needs to be it's own thing instead of a continuation of megaforce. I also think they should put power rangers back on Disney because the ones that were with Disney had really good storylines and action scenes plus they didn't rely so much on the original footage.

Megaforce. Oh dear God, Megaforce.

You can keep Turbo having no explanation for the switch from the Zeo powers to the Turbo powers. You can keep Operation Overdrive despite being the worst season of the Disney era. You can keep Samurai because it was Saban's first Power Rangers series since he got it back. But for the love of Zordon, Megaforce is the season that needs the reboot the most. No. Contest.

And Sentai pretty much hits the nail right on the head as always. :thumb:

A sad truth, I'm afraid. (Super) Megaforce has been a colossal disappointment since the first episode. Since we know now that Saban can seemingly skip a Sentai season (though who knows, maybe Saban will pull another "new powers" out of his ass with the Go-Busters), it would have made all the more sense to just fully adapt Goseiger and skip Gokaiger. Maybe have a 20th anniversary special that only adapts the Legend War from Gokaiger, and then move on to the next adaptation.

Maybe I should update that one post I made on how Megaforce should have been done...

I just forgot one thing. The Sentai series morphs that never made it over here. Dairanger, Bioman, Maskman, and so on. Keep Dairanger as a present for Sentai fans. Cut the rest, and for the love of Candelira name Dairanger something other than "Legendary Squadron". Call them Rangers from the distant past, the original original Rangers.

Yeah, I guess the Dairanger powers should have stayed in at least as a nice nod to the Sentai fans. Personally, I would have went with "Power Rangers Thunderstars", since the Thunderzords were from Dairanger and they were known as the "Five-Star Sentai". Much better than Legendary Squadron, wouldn't you agree?

Saban had no business bringing over Changeman, Flashman, Maskman, and Fiveman to Power Rangers as "New Powers". Either film new footage using already established Ranger powers, or cut out the Sentai-only Ranger footage completely. You can't cheap out on what was supposed to be the season with the biggest budget for Power Rangers ever. And I've seen the French airings of the last few episodes of Super Megaforce. For shame, Saban. FOR SHAME.

"Lost Defenders"?

Either of those are much better choices than what we got.

Operation Overdrive, no more Dax!!!

Season 2 MMPR with all Dairanger suits because when I found out about Dairanger I felt a little betrayed when I was a kid that we were introduced to only one suit.

Lost 2 rangers? Trini and who else?

For MMPR season 2 It would have been great if they went the Digimon 02 route sorta.
Have regular guest appearances by the original 6 rangers time to time so that they can stay relevant to the world while we have these new guys fight in the Dairanger suits.
For the members have Rocky, Adam, Aisha, along with two new original characters as Dairanger suit PR.
For the sixth have another original character, maybe a nephew of Lt. Stone.

Udonna, the Mystic White Ranger. Her actress Peta Rutter died a few years ago.

All of Neo Saban, Turbo, and Overdrive. For obvious reasons. Turbo becomes it's own season away from Zeo. Overdrive Recast, rewrite, and then some. Samurai just needs an overhaul as well too bland. Megaforce be its own thing or they lose the powers for the Super Mega Powers. Super Megaforce needs a new name and just an omission of all non PR sentai stuff, actual tribute episodes and NO GOSEI. And overall for all of them the characters need to be explored more both pre ranger and while they are a ranger.
