Funimation to Simulcast/Stream Garo: Seal of Flames
For subscribers only but very good opportunity for Garo fans!
http://www.funimation.com/blog/2014/...season-part-2/ |
Yes! I guess we should get a dub soon from Funimation. If Seal of Flames does well then maybe Funimation can look into subbing and dubbing the live action shows.
|
If we are getting a dub from Funimation, I'll wait for the dub then, as I am not a fan of subtitles.
|
This is good, we can introduce Toku to more people through this! :)

And we have the pretty unique-looking OP, with JAM-Project providing the song.

Wow, this is good news.
|
I'm glad the show is getting the exposure. Less thrilled about dropping $8 a month to subscribe to an entire site just to watch one show. But if the show takes off and increases interest in Garo domestically, there's always a chance it could lead to official US releases of the other shows and movies.
Also, does this mean Funimation will also be releasing this on dvd and/or blu-ray? I don't know how the relationship works between their streaming site and physical media. |
It might be a great sign. It might show up on Toonami.
|
The fact that I never knew that Funmation HAS a stream service should tell you something.
Glad it's getting released in the USA but I'm not willing to pay $8.00 to yet another service. |
Like many if this was something they'd stream over on Youtube, I'd be hyped as all hell. But like many paying eight dollars for one show isn't that great of a thing to me. Hopefully it does end up getting a DVD release here in the States and maybe even end up on Toonami. I know if that happened I'd be tempted to watch Toonami again.
|
I'll just wait for an announcement for a dub and wait for it to be released for free online. (Sorry I can't support you Funimation but I'm one broke person.)
|
During the Spring semester of my Anime and Manga club at my college we did Live Action day and a lot of people end up enjoying Garo then expected. Garo is more mature then Kamen Rider, Ultraman and Sentai, so I can see why people who are not into Toku can dig it.
|
Any word if it'll be on Crunchyroll?
|
Well this sucks as I just got rid of my Funimation account due to budgetting. Guess I'll have to rely on Nihon or HorribleSubs doing it.

|
From TVN's Facebook:
"We've just learned the Garo anime has been licensed and will be subbed by Funimation, so we will not be subbing this series. Please support the official release!" |
Boo, Funimation's streaming is USA only.

There's always a chance it can be air on Toonami as well. I can see Garo becoming popular if they market it right.

I mean, good on them, but they are very inconsistent with their decision making. |

I'm not saying that it's okay for them to keep those torrents up or anything like that, but that's likely the reasoning they're using for not subbing Garo in this situation. Techincally speaking at this point, their Zyuranger subs don't infringe on actual released material, they will in the future, but they don't yet. Garo subs however would for the afformentioned simulcast reason. |
Well I'll watch it some how, I'm still excited for this.
|
So why hasn't it appeared on Funiamtion's site yet?
|
I can't believe that some people are upset about this. I seen some Toku fans who feel like Toku related stuff should never be license and it should be only fan subbed. I swear some Toku fans are some of the worst hipsters that I've ever seen.
I'm not worry about the subs and dubs from Funimation. Funimation usually does a good job on subbing their shows and their subs follow the Japanese scripts. They are much better at dubbing shows then they were 10 - 15 years ago. For example, their dub of Dragon Ball Kai is very faithful to the Japanese dub when you are watching it uncut. |

2. The Garo anime isn't really Toku, it is anime. :lol Quote:
BTW, having the streaming rights doesn't mean they will have the rights to bring it out on video. |

Funimation their dub quality varies from low and high I think a lot of people can agree, for a most recent anime Pyscho Pass in my opinion has amazing dubs. Their Blu-Ray sets are also far more reasonable and while most time they don't have amazing goodies like Aniplex blu-ray sets, but they at least cater to everyone on most of their license animes, Single DVD release, Single Blu-Ray Release, DVD + Blu-Ray, or Blu-ray + DVD Limited/Collectors Edition. |
Actually, the Kill La Kill dub is way better than the Japanese version, but I'm not willing to buy the series at Japanese prices. If I want to buy at Japanese prices, I'll buy from Japan.

I'll definitely say Funimation is a great dubbing company. They took Toradora's generic, stereotypical Japanese dialogue that most kids that age wouldn't say here in America & made them sound like actual people living here as teenagers. Hopefully fans of the Garo anime can get the same quality.
