Crunchyroll to stream Ultraman Max
So it looks like Cruchyroll plans on streaming Ultraman Max soon. Maybe this could lead up to possible Toku subs on Cruchyroll in the near future like Kamen Rider and Sentai. Only time will tell.

This is such a weird choice for streaming. I mean it's cool that it's available. But whats the draw to pay monthly for this when tons of people saw the fansubs of Max for free years ago?

I'm surprise that they didn't go for Ginga S since it's more recent. I always wanted to check out more Japanese live action shows outside of Toku, so I will watch these shows to show my support.

Sounds like great news, sadly I don't have a premium account but in the odd case that here it's brought as a free show, I'll give it a watch. :)

I'm very eager to see how this plays out and may go so far as to pay for Crunchyroll simply because they have Max (JoJo helps, though), even if it's watchable for free like some of their other shows. I don't want Max to be a fluke, quickly forgotten. |
Another good sign

Hey at least we have another officially licensed subtitled Ultraman available in the USA. I do hope Cruchyroll can look into subbing Kamen Rider even if it's old or new. I'm glad Toku shows have grown in popularity in recent years and now Cruchyroll has look into it.

Yay, my favorite Ultraman series! Finally a chance to see the ending without HK subs!
Does Crunchyroll stuff get DVD releases? I'd buy the hell out of a Max boxset. |
Well then, I think I know what Ultraman I may start off with.
|
I never really got into this show in particular but the show had a very likeable camp factor to it from what I remember.
|
That's weird! I mean, it's cool, but it's weird!

Looks like I am going to have to look into Crunchyroll. Because more Ultra is always a good thing!

Just a head's up: Max will go live on Crunchyroll at 6pm tonight (CDT). It looks like it will initially be available only to subscribers, then to free users at some point in the near future.
|
Ultraman Max is live! Free users can watch the first eight episodes free and get eight more a week through November, while Premium users can watch the entire thing now.
Max never got consideration for Let's Watch Wednesdays because previously it was never available fully subtitled, but I would have pushed it every single voting period if I could. Now that it's all available immediately, I hope many of you guys give it a watch. |

Indeed! I watched the first episode last night and was suitably impressed with both the show as well as the presentation from Crunchyroll. The free service is ad supported but not bad at all. Considering that CR also has a few anime series I am interested in -- including Dai-Shogun, the modern Gaiking series, and Slam Dunk, which I had been watching on Crackle -- I may shell out for the premium account.
One issue -- the name of the site really makes me crave some sushi. Mmmm sushi... |
