Shout! Factory Reveals Zyuranger DVD Cover!
HOLY CRAP. Thats awesome!
Id rather the actual name Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger be more prominant than SUPER SENTAI, but Ill get what I can take. |
Damn that cover is awesome!... Though I strangely suspect non Sentai fans getting confused into thinking that the name "Super Sentai" refers to Zyuranger and only Zyuranger.
I like the fact super sentai big it's to get the point across. Then we get the japanese logo then sentai team followed by complete serise. Simple but works
Nice cover. I like the "Before Power Rangers, there was..." bit above Super Sentai.
Now I really want them to get some Pre-Zyuranger stuff out so that the cover can say "Before Power Rangers, there was... EVEN MORE SUPER SENTAI" :lol
It kind of irks me that Kyoryu Sentai isn't present in english on the cover and they've instead used the general Super Sentai term. But I realize complaining about it now doesn't mean they'll change it either.
I think it's a cool cover. I look forward to see what bonus features that they will add later on.
That's pretty cool looking. Not a fan of the giant Super Sentai on it.
It's cool. Wish the super sentai logo was on it but it's ok.
I like the cover but it reminds me of those Korean bootleg dvds they sell on ebay for $20.
Also I wish the team logo was a bit larger so it matches up with the humongous SUPER SENTAI logo xD Doesn't matter, I already made the decision to buy it anyway when they announced it in hopes that sales will be good and we'll get more sentai shows released in America like Kakuranger, Hurricanger, GOKAIGER, etc. |
Like the cover art. I hope for a Release Date soon.
I like how they draw your attention to the characters on the box, not just Zyu suits slapped on and people thinking it's a knockoff. It makes itself distinct from power Rangers.
Pretty crap cover, tbh.
The "SUPER SENTAI" looks very "Word Art-y" and its absolutely bizarre that there's no Daizyujin or anything to actually tell someone passing by what it is and the actual Zyuranger outfits are delegated to tiny boxes on the bottom. |
Boi's eyes look closed for some reason.
I'm kinda excited bout this.
It is cool, but I'd rather have a costumed pic.
Where Burai at.

Is it just me or does that Super Sentai font look exactly like the title for Thunderbirds? |

I like the cover. It has that feel of a long-forgotten gem that you discover in a second-hand store. And the emphasis on Super Sentai may help drill the name into people's heads and open paths to future DVD releases. |

The "Before" bit, like everyone else has mentioned, is a decidedly nice touch. I think they chose too many generic Zyuranger outfit pics and screen captures for the bottom. A little Daizyujin, Barza, Bandora, or Burai would make it neater. It might be confusing for people unfamiliar so I hope for their sake they but a nice little description on the back of the case to kinda break it down. "Zyuranger" or "Super Sentai" are known to a select collective, but its not like its something that is culturally relevant in America from "...sea to shining sea". However, the nitpicks also distort the other factor at play, and that is if we want to see MORE Sentai releases, we have to respect this first attempt and show that Shout didn't waste their time producing it. To be perfectly honest, I don't think Saban will do anything prior to Zyu anytime soon (a logic you think they could have followed with Super Megaforce). If anything, they'll take more time with the more thoroughly adapted Sentai series instead of those who had a suit or two bleed into Saban's version. Now, if the financial success is noteworthy enough and the demand is strong, then Goranger-Jetman could grace the states, but don't hold your breath over that anytime soon. Remember, it took 20 years just to get this far.
I wouldn't expect to see anything pre Zyu to be honest. I meant it would be cool, but I doubt it'll happen. At most I just hope this does well enough to where we got at least a good chunk of the Sentais that were adapted as subbed DVD sets and that we get a Dairanger sub, though that's probably hoping for too much.
It's somewhat corny, charming, and totally retro, I love it. :lol

Fantastic. Seems like they're really trying to attract the Power Rangers crowd with this cover, which I don't mind.
I'd love to see Pre-Zyu series. Gorenger would be perfect for the "Before Power Rangers" thing they used.
However, I know it's a pipe dream. I think if they sub and release another Sentai, it'd definitely be either OhRanger or MegaRanger, since Zeo was popular and In Space saved PR. |

Wouldn't mind GoGo-V. Or Timeranger. Or Black RX. |

Oh my god, I won't say names, but I just read the dumbest posts ever. People are actually complaining about this set because it is making Toku too "mainstream," which is taking away from the fansubbers. :rolleyes Heaven forbid this could get us official products released in the US. Heaven forbid that official products cost money
Yeah that's the type of complaint I'll never understand. I'd rather own the real official deal in physical form any day. It's great we have fansubs for shows, especially for ones that will never get official releases. But once those few releases that can happen actually do, I see no reason to whine and cry about it. My biggest complaint is I don't like the text on the cover for crying out loud :lol

Though earlier today I read someone post that due to the cover looking like shit, most likely the show will too, even though they've seen the show already. It's safe to say that dude won't be buying it, hahaha. |

Wow, just…seems like this fandom can NEVER be happy with ANYTHING. |
I like it, but I kinda think not putting the Zyuranger suits in anywhere prominent on the cover is going to stop it being attracted to those who don't already know what they're looking for (because I'd have thought the easiest way of attracting casual fans would be to throw something instantly recognisable to Power Rangers on it).
Of course, being in the UK I have very little knowledge on the manner in which Shout Factory DVDs are released, so it could be that they only really have the existing fan base in mind. I dunno. |

I understand/appreciate what they were going for, but that's a pretty bad cover. I'll still buy it.

Definitely going to be picking this set up. Very excited to finally get a chance to see Zyuranger "for real." |
