Kamen Rider Drive Episode 6: "What Does The Warrior Fight For?" Discussion Thread
Shinnosuke's in trouble and the Crush Roimude is still on the loose!
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams are at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Whoops, accidentally voted what I thought was the SMF episode! Please disregard. :o

Engie waifu is best waifu.
|
Type Wild was pretty amazing and so was Mad Doctor. Rumble Dump was not as amazing but it was still rather good.

Subs are out!

Going by what the henchman turned into I guess they'll be a spider and bat ones as well. Type wild is cool. Nice to see that the sword has it's own finisher and I figured that was going to be deal with the lady scientist. I thnik next week maybe a one and down episode only because there seems to only one roidmund but I could be wrong as an underline theme seems to be the evolved roidmunds leading/mentoring those still in there base forms. Also as Brain had said the viral cores are the basis of their bodies I wonder what would happen if you used a shift car instead of viral core...

Drive drifting with the sword, Mad Doctor and totally not the phrase "Full Throtle Dump" were amusing.
The whole unit exposing the crooked cop whose name I already forgot and Trideron(Wild) vs giant damn cobra were awesome. Not-Hurricane-Yellow saving him was cool but he clearly saw Drive and then Tomari in the belt, he has no excuse not to figure it out. Nice to have another member in team Drive. The scientist being right there will hopefully be used to more logically explain upgrades. |
Tomari has the same special power that protects Clark Kent.

I think this episode was excellent, the scene where Shinnosuke transforms into Type Wild was great IMO. The way he said these things and his hand first levitated over Type Speed before he chose Wild, that was very well done.
|
Type wild was awesome and I didn't expect mad doctor to be that one enhancement that heals while it also hurts you. Also as always mash in chaser was good for the few parts he was in.
P.s anyone know where i can find sub's for this because I have only seen the raw. |
Great episode! Loved the debut of Kamen Rider Spartan.. I mean Drive Type Wild. I think Den-O summed up the end of the episode well with :lol :
http://i.imgur.com/0Cf2zBz.jpg Can't wait to see more of type wild next week. |
Does anybody have a gif for Kouta's eyebrow wiggle because that would be perfect for this episode's ending. :lol

For my money this was the best episode of the show to date. The action scenes were good with Type Wild and all, but the big thing for me was that this was the first episode where it really felt like the supporting cast contributed to things. Obviously Rinna had the biggest role, but the captain got a couple good scenes, too. At this point it's really just the doll guy that isn't working for me at all. They're a bunch of goofballs, but I think I'm starting to like them - it's very much like if the Ore Journal staff were police officers. I can work with that.
Also, Mad Doctor is officially my new favorite Shift Car. |
Another solid episode, they seem to be handling the mass amount of shift cars better than say.... Fourze did with Astro switches.
Does anyone know how many shift cars there are yet? |
Okay, I think I'm officially a fan of Drive after this episode. The show has been steadily improving and I feel that between the last episode and this one that they're really finding their footing. I still think the shift cars can be a bit clunky and I loathe Vegas, but Mad Doctor just about makes up for all of that lol. A lot of the humor also seemed to be more on point this episode, although still a few groaners in the mix. Looking forward to next week. Heck, might even watch the raw livestream which will be the first time since the premiere for me.
On a side note: anyone else finding themselves smiling like a giddy idiot whenever the Gaim cast appear in the opening credits advertising the crossover movie? I'm a little surprised at how much I miss some of those characters. |

We know more exist due to scans though. Also three (one used) Chaser Viral Cores and one toy-exclusive car (Holy Christmas). |
This episode was so much fun, I loved Mad Doctor and how he cured Shinnosuke. I felt this was great for the Special Crimes Unit coming together as a team and be useful, also Rinna's fake betrayal was great too. Mr. Belt definitely as a lot of secrets and I can see why Shinnosuke is hesitant of him. I bet he knows a lot more about the Roimudes then he said. Chaser vs Type Wild Drive was fun, Type Wild kicks ass, and it looks Chase needs a more powerful upgrade to compete with that. Trideron Type Wild was pretty awesome too and I loved Rumble Dump and it's drill attack too. I am a huge fan of this show, I can't wait for more.

We've had 12 already? Damm! LOL |
I'm just gonna say it:
This show is Riku Sanjou's "Faiz." It has good designs & interesting concepts but is held back through lackluster characters and story dynamics that don't work at all. Drive's sense of pacing is atrocious. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why we have to be at the "two-episode" story format. The only reason thus far things have been padded out are Shinnosuke being an idiot & Belt not actually telling him a damn thing about whats supposed to be happening in the series. And "idiocy" is the greatest depth of character Shinnoskue has right now. He's boring and generic in fights and all but lifeless in between those scenes. I've complained before about Drive's identity being kept secret from the Special group for no good reason but right now it feels even stupider that no one can put together than Shinnosuke and Drive are the same person even though Shinnosuke wears the same conspicuous equipment AND operates the exact same car model only with one panel missing. So yea, I'm out. |

Just didn't watch episode 5 until yesterday out of forgetfulness, but then followed up with 6 today. Yeah. I am NOT a fan of returning to the two episode format. :( Together it's fine, but week-to-week I don't like being back to knowing what's coming next (Drive beats the monster or a new monster shows up, nothing else) and not having any suspense.
Also not really a fan of this particular two-parter because of how casually they treated some pretty bad corruption in the police. At least Crush is gone. |
And I thought Den-O's giant monster train battles were bad…
Drive's car monster fights are even worse and just screams "hey kids, new toy is out! go buy it!" more so than past seasons…hell more so than Fourze. |

I really wished Rider would finally stop with this giant battles in Rider. They dont fit, they never did and I doubt they ever will. |

Eh. I thought it was pretty cool.

I have to say it, but I was bored to death during this episode. Everything was predictable and the "shutting down" of the unit was just stupid. They could have at least stretched that predictable plot point out for an entire episode rather than just 5 minutes.
|
Finally caught up. I feel most people on the two-parter thing being completely unnecessary at this point. I think the car battles are still decent if not good, as far as the CGI goes. Necessary? No, but very few things in toku are and I'm willing to let this one slide, especially since Trideron isn't completely CGI. It would probably help if they had a Type Wild and Type Technique car modified, but I don't doubt that that would blow the budget.
Am I the only one that finds it silly that Chase keeps showing up as a roadblock before he and Drive fight? It worked once, but it would be nice if there was at least a little bit of a car chase scene or something. I guess it's either that or having him pop into battles with MOTWs all the time. |

I'm just waiting for the day where Chase snaps and punches Brain in the face. |
Actually seriously dug this episode. It was great to see the special investigations unit work together to take down that corrupt cop and Shinnousuke having his faith restored by one really good guy. And Type Wild is great and captures the police motif better than Type Speed IMO, the fighting was great and I loved the finisher.
Looks like more and more members of the group will learn about the Drive Pit in the coming episodes. |

Taking a vote. Most useless rider series since Wizard? (Which isn't that long ago...)
