How do you choose to view Rider continuity?
We know that the Showa Riders all exist in the same universe, as do W-Drive, and SOME form of Kuuga must have existed before the events of Agito. Outside of that, it can be pretty spotty though.
How do you guys view it? Do all Riders exist in one shared universe? Do they work like the DC multiverse where they're all connected by each Rider's world standsalone? Or are they just separate altogether? |
I think in some way shape or form all the Showa Riders and the Heisei Riders exist in the same universe except for Kabuto because that's a physical impossibility and Decade is from a different world.

I just look at the continuity in a very loose way. They exist in the same universe...somehow and that works for me :)
|
With Shibuya being destroyed in Kabuto it makes it way too difficult to be in continuity with anything else.
|
I view the Heisei series as originally taking place on separate worlds (except Kuuga and Agito), but Decade then retroactively merged those universes during his ending movie. Kind of like what happened to the DC universe during Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Decade.
Multiple universes. Multiple continuities. There doesn't have to be a single canon because Decade is their easy out button from now on. |

Everything is separate, but the introduction of Decade into the Rider franchise basically established that the separate stories/continuities/universes can merge at any moment without a "detailed reasoning" behind it. |
Hell, Rider movies up until Den-O were all alternate universes, so they established the idea early on.
So Black and Black RX can be the same person in one universe, or two separate universes altogether (As Decade tried to establish). |
Kuuga and Agito share the same world.
From Ryuki to Kiva they are pretty much their own thing. Den-O and Kiva I GUESS you can say they share the same world cause of Climax Deka but if we are purely looking at tv shows only they are seperate. Decade is pretty much its own thing which tried to unite the previous nine but failed imo. Then from W to Fourze they were shared via Foundation X but that kind of withered away after Wizard. |
I try not to care. But I guess the Neo-Heisei riders are at least in-continuity with eachother, except maybe Gaim.

Showa: 1971 - Black RX
90's Rider movies: Shin, ZO and J Kuuga/Agito: Showa, Kuuga and Agito Neo-Heisei: Showa, Kuuga, Kiva (Going by Ryoma's computer) and W-Drive Stand alone: Ryuki - Decade The PS2 Agito game is supposed to be canon going by the game's website but some fans take it with a grain of slat. |
Original - Zx, Rx, and W-Drive
Black Kuuga Agito Ryuki 555 Blade Hibiki Kabuto Den-O Kiva Decade |
I find it hard to believe for all of the rider shows exist in the same world seeing how some of the shows ended like Ryuki and Kabuto.

I also believe Black and Black RX are the same person, and probably has some ability like a split form to be both like something out of the Black RX special. I mean OOO was able to become all of his forms in a movie. |
From what I can remember, Kabuto had Tokyo wipe out completely. I would find it hard to believe that the city return back to normal like a week later in Den-O if they all exist in the same world.
|
I like to think Ryuki-Kiva all are different worlds that sometimes interconnect with each other.
hence why the original 3 were able to enter freely in the Gaim world. and yes, Kuuga and Agito are both in the same universe. |

I feel like Ryuki can be fudged into the Kuuga/Agito timeline. The story of Kanzaki's doesn't really conflict with anything from Kuuga/Agito, at least not to my knowledge, and it could even explain some of the supernatural elements of the series.
Kabuto, well, yeah, there's really no way to explain the destruction of Tokyo and then it being rebuilt a week later for Den-O. Maybe Tendou just did Kabuto shenanigans to prevent the destruction altogether but eh. |

Well Toei completely dropped teh ball with Decade. They could have used the series as a Crisis on Infinite Earths style story to combine all of the Heisei universes and Showa universe into one world, but nope, they just completely jacked it up because they had no idea what to do with the show.
|
I think Ryuki could ever fit into any series if Toei pulls a End of Evangelion on us and says the Ryuki Final is now the real ending to the series. Thus ignoring the TV show ending. I personally didn't mind the TV show ending and it didn't make me angry like most people did.
|
What is the Ryuki Final ending?
