Welcome to the Power Rangers Megaforce forum!
Now that the important details are known - the name of the series, the setting of the series, and which Sentai the series is based off of, it is time to open its own discussion forum!
Premiering in early 2013, Power Rangers Megaforce is the 20th anniversary season of Saban's Power Rangers! Enjoy! |
I did not start watching SS until Gokaiger so Megaforce would be new to me. But why two years again?
|
I get the feeling Nickelodeon pretty much said to them 'take it or leave it' over the 2 years thing. Also gives Bandai an excuse to make more toys.

Wooo! Tensou Sentai Megaforce Goseiger Thread! Your Countdown to Awesome begins now!
|
I wonder if they'll retool the Gosiger mech to make me actually want to own it...

Thus, Power Rangers Samurai was broken in to "Samurai" and "Super Samurai", and split between 2011 and 2012. With the follow-up season of Megaforce (a Goseiger adaption which we learned Saban Brands is contractually obligated to adapt), it will follow the same pattern based on the deal with Nick ... two 20 episode seasons over two years. Now that Saban Brands has purchased the 4K!DS programming block, if it's still around in 2015 I fully expect Power Rangers to shift to that channel. |
It's sad about the Nick situation but Nick's involvement does some have some positive points. Their marketing of Samurai may be occasionally lackluster, but it's good enough to make Power Rangers popular again. Plus, based on the casting sides, Nick may play a hand in better-written dialogue for Megaforce, with character relationships being similar to their flagship shows like iCarly.
|
It's obvious that Nick didn't play a role in the Samurai writing, as it's been shown time and time again to just be a Google translation of the Sentai version.

So Saban thought "Let's keep the next series as faithful as possible!" and proceeded to do so with the series covered in Japanese history and tradition. |

Regardless of faithfulness or not I think Power Rangers can be good if it's executed well. Time Force was a good translation while RPM was a good original series. |
I never understood the "Don't change it!" mentality, to be honest. If you just watched Juuken Sentai Gekiranger, why would you want to watch it again with American actors?
I think PR was at it's best when they used the Sentai's premise and minor plot elements as a jumping off point for their own stories. |

Heck the original Japanese script writers are getting credited in Samurai. It's a shame really because Tzachor does love his job, he loves Power Rangers and wants it to be a success, it's just his idea of how it can become successful ... Also in case anyones wondering he and Judd Lynn became the executive back during 2nd half Turbo and was still EP until Disney fired him at the end of Wild Force. |

I still don't know, guys. There's good arguements, in three threads now, about weither or not this'll be a direct translation or an original series. We'll see. MMPR has survived worse ideas, you know. |
