Kamen Rider Drive Episode 13: "Why Wont My Brother Put On The Brakes?" Discussion!
Engines are starting back up!
What effect will the new White Rider have on the Roimudes? As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams are at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Can't wait, finally some new Drive episodes :D
|
Yes new drive episodes. I must watch them
|
Superhero Time is no longer being live-streamed at Taima Tv. Unless an alterantive is found, we're going to have to wait for subs now. :(
|
Drive is so amazing! Can't wait for more Shinnosuke/Gou bickering! :D

We will have SHT again on Taima |
From what I have seen of the raw and what I can guess at what happened I am find this episode alot more enjoyable than the last given that they considerably toned down the wackiness.
|
Not my favorite episode, it was kinda meh. I just can't handle Gou, he's so incredibly weird that I really don't know what to think about him.
|
Well, the exaggerated acting, camera work and effects are par for the course now, so there's really no need to comment on it any more. But Go's random acrobatics and the romance teasing was quite unnecessary, in my opinion.
So... Shinnosuke doesn't like it when Mach used the Slow Down on other humans because it "makes them no better than Roymudes". Disregarding the fact that the harmless effects of the Slow Down would make their jobs easier and has the potential to reduce the harm that is done to humans. (Heck, it was thanks to the Slow Down that the lieutenant guy was saved from a fall a few episodes back...) Also, did they really run out of budget for their Slow Down effect? Go and Kiriko's attempt at slow-motion acting was really painful to watch, not to mention confusing as hell. |

They may follow the same track of Kabuto's Clock Up, again, too much flashy effects just came and dissappeared in random episodes. When Gou was in Slow Down for the first time, he acted so poor that most people who watch without subs should thought that he just pretending. The part with Shark Bullet (?) is really random for sure. At least this time Medic failed to recover her allies, which is good for me, having "doctor" roles in one side kinda fell cheating. |
Definitely a step up from two weeks ago, but not a huge one. The show is still painfully unfunny and Gou is a total douchebag. I was a little surprised by how nice it was to have the show back, though; I missed these characters over the break more than I thought I would. Shinnosuke and Kiriko, in particular, had some good scenes this week.
As for Kamen Rider Maha's big debut solo battle (why is it not pronunced Maku, exactly?), well it was garbage. The editing was incredibly bad, his powers are monumentally stupid, and it was just him standing there swapping out collectable toy gimmicks while the villains ran around in circles. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it made me miss the DJ Gun close-ups from Gaim. I never thought I'd see something that was even more clunky and obnoxious. Thanks for proving me wrong, I guess. |
Despite everyone almost hate Gou for no reason
I will still watching because I want to know if Kiriko get mad at Mr. Belt for let Gou become Kamen Rider without knowing. You know, when he first appear in Gokaiger, No one like Gai Ikari similar to Gou because both of annoying sometime. How a character got a hateful response by Rider Fan but yet, His Suit design got well received? Why? I don't hate him, He's not Shunpei! Thank god! I think in my own opinion, I think Gou should be Deadpool of Kamen Rider because think about it, back in 1980s. I think no one care about Deadpool because he was Deathstroke-type character but he become a fan favorite character. Maybe someday Gou could get a character development |

As for me, my major problem is that Gou is so over the top that I don't know exactly were to put him. I usually like excentric characters but he's a bit to much of pretty much everything. Not that fond of his rider form either. |
I liked this episode, Gou seems to fit in now and if he get's some more development it's fine.
But now for the interesting part: Chaser! It's good that they develop him now and don't try to keep this secret that everyone over the age of 5 already figures out a while ago. We know he'll get some update later in the show so it's interesting to see how his role will change over the next episodes. |
Hmm. This episode significantly improved my opinion of Gou - a lot more actual personality, less wacky hijinks but he's still definitely in need of some character development.
What does Signal Kiken even do though? It randomly summons some giant bullet bill with ill-defined abilities? |

The episode was better watching it the second time but I still just voted average. There were good elements in it but as much scenes that dragged it down again. The worst thing besides the "editing comedy" has to be though the slowdown acting. It looked so hilariously bad when they were just moving slower than normal. During the fight scene at the end I couldnt even tell if Gou was just pretending to be slower just so he could be a dick to the Roidmudes. The whole Rinna being jealous bit felt pretty tacked on too. Yeah she was always kinda flirty with Shinnosuke but her whole attitude this episode felt kinda off to me.
My favorite part of the Episode was Gous fight scene until he used all his Signal Bikes. That was the worst kind of toy promotion I have seen in Rider for a loooong time. I still have hopes for Gou to develop into a pretty flashy cool dude and not just some dick that does backflips all the time. His roll call is just the greatest thing for me and I dont want this wasted on such a poor character. |
I think that this was great as always mostly because I like how silly gou is. I also like that he just automatically thought," My sister is dating the kamen rider. " and rinna was jealous. I did think that the whole kiriko and gou acting like they were slowed was meh but I could careless about that

Speaking of sillyness I was really sinking my teeth into my desk during the scene were Gou was handing out the pictures of Mach to the over members of the police force. That goddamn stupid as fuck noise their Boss made drove me absolutely nuts.
|
So far I'm rather lukewarm on Mach.
I don't really like Gou he contracts Shinnouske pretty well but I don't like that he's just another goofball in a show that really didn't need any more goofballs. Mach doesn't really wow me either but I like that the Signal Bikes at least seem more practical than the Shift Cars. |
Oh gosh I'm loving Mach, now sure you is a bit annoying at times but I like it. In fact I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. Heck Drive has been enjoyable and watchable compared to some other seasons. The gimmicks of both riders is a bit under whelming, but I've grown to enjoy the suits much more and the shift cars.
Now as to what's wrong, I feel like that the actors exaggerate at all the wrong spots. When I look in the past seasons I see that the comedy was placed at the correct moments, and was good. The chief's reactions as well as the puppet guys are quite annoying. If the acting was more natural it could of worked. |

At the end of the phone call with the random english goodbye, I had to go back and watch it again to see if they really said that. I love how a lot of KR seems to have someone who moved to or lives in an English speaking country.
|
It looks like the guy who played Gunman's human form is the same dude as Caitsith Phantom from Wizard...I thought they looked familiar.
|
I enjoyed the episode for the most part. Signal Danger is beyond ridiculous, though. Honestly bad Toku CGI doesn't usually bother me, but it just looked SO BAD!
|
I still kinda dig Gou.
I don't really care for the other silliness, though. And yeah, the Signal Danger was horrendous. Some of the most distractingly bad CGI I've ever seen in Toku. |
It might just be the new show hype keeping up, but I feel like I'm really getting into this show. I'm warming up to Mach faster than I thought I would. I echo everyone's sentiments on the bad Slowdown acting though, that was terrible.
Maybe it's just me being mushy, but I enjoyed the whole teasing Shinnousuke and Kiriko thing. The deal scene was also really cool for what it was. It'd have been nice to see a full battle there, but I guess you have to advertise the toys somehow. I just hope that the ridiculous amounts of Signal Koukan-ing this week means we can get it out of the way faster, because I am enjoying how fluid Mach's fighting is when he's not futzing with bikes. I'm glad Gou being an arrogant asshole for literally no reason didn't last long. Too bad his annoying side is apparently here to side, and we really really didn't need another person with a crazy tick..
I'm really interested in this whole contemporary of Steinbelt's in America, but doubt he'll ever matter again... But overall, not horrible. At least still seemingly progressing Chaser's story, since he's now the most interesting character the show has. |
So after watching this ep, alas I knew the Gun guy wouldn't last despite being a badass design...I liked the idea of the brothers dealing the slo mo bands out, just a shame the couldn't stretch that out to true story arc. I feel there could have been potential, especially in hearing how the other roids are doing in other parts of the world.
I'm sticking to my theory Gou has SOMETHING happening to him. He seems to have a motivation of a pressing deadline. I think using Mach before it was complete is taking a more serious toll on him. LOVE Medic by the way. As for Chase...ok, he's Hakaider becoming Kikaider? lol |

Gou has gotten better since last episode, but that's not saying much. He's at least slightly bearable though, and I'm glad that he (at least) seems to be willing to work with the group now, rather than "Screw you guys! I don't need your help!"
Oh, and next episode, we find out Chase's backstory... The bookies are giving a 3:2 odds on him being Proto-Drive . |
Another great episode. I have to say though, Gou probably came back to Japan because has some sort of fatal disease or something and he wants to make sure his sister is in good hands when he dies.
