For anyone curious at what the Yokai grunts that you saw in some of the promos look like in Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, your headaches from the curiosity can now cease because here is the first photo of the cannon fodder. What do you think of these blue foot soldiers?

They sort of look like the illegitimate love child of Urataros and something absurd. :lol

I've been looking at that photo since right before I did this & I keep asking: where are the arms?!?! :P (they're so well hidden, it's almost like this is the most useless foot soldier as it can't fight more than literally kicks)

After the Crows, pretty much any grunt was going to look poor by comparison. However, I still like the design. I am intrigued to see what the main villains look like.

Looks okay. Not a big fan of the panels all over them, but they don't look bad.

I like it but I keep thinking that it's designed from scraps from Home Depot (or Lowes).
1) Lamp post topper for a hat
2) Blue tile for the torso an arms (with black grout)
3) Large kitchen backsplash with blue grout for the legs
4) PCV and paint for the rifle
5) Extra wide venetian blind for the belt.
etc

that might be the case (in series) for these footsoldiers: they're made from discarded scrap

The Yokai look like they're covered in blue mattress material, but for some reason it looks good with their designs.

Yet another reason I'm looking forward to this show.

This is a decent looking dumb trooper. It can't compare to the awesome of the Crows, be it's still solid.

Yeah I really dig these guys. I especially like the hats and I think they will look good in action

They look pretty cool. I hope the show has the writing to go with the designs.

I doubt it will have the luck because of how Super Sentai has been going since Shinkenger, but I hope so too just for the franchise's sake

What does that even mean? If you're using the for some reason popular logic that every other season is great and the ones in between suck, then by that logic this show should be great since ToQger is pretty bland. Even then I think that entire line of thinking is ridiculous. So what are you talking about?

Since Shinkenger? The show has had every other year good/bad since DekaRanger. As such, if it continues, Ninninger should be a great show. At least, great compared to the current Sentai standards. We'll see though. I'm going to remain optimistic despite how much it seems to be just KakuRanger 2.0.

I will heartily disagree with this. This kind of generaliztion is just silly. So you didn't like a season in between some others? That doesn't mean there's some pattern in play. I for one think Shinkenger is a boring mess and that Goseiger is fantastic. There's no more pattern here for good/bad than people should think there is, look at the actual series ratings some time.

I don't see grunt from this thing, i like how it looks but it feels more like a monster of the week.

Ratings and quality don't always have a direct correlation. Some series that have been regarded as "Sentai at it's greatest" has had some gawd awful ratings.

Ratings have been falling since Gaoranger dude. Check the ratings some time rather than making generalizations.

I have checked the ratings & I saw that there was a peak at Shinkenger & then the fall (plus, no one mentions a ratings dip until Shinkenger; not Goaranger)

I'm thinking that a good story just generally speaking for the viewers watching the show; that might be a reason for a ratings dip that has been happening these last few years

A ratings dip is happening because less people watch a TV show when it actually airs these days. Ratings don't account for those who DVR the show or for those who watch it online.

Ratings drop because we have fewer kids watching the shows then we did 10-20 years ago. Not to mention people these days seem to be less interested in TV Toku shows. I have notice on Japanese forums and sites that older fans don't seem to care for newer shows that much. I remember one person on 2chan said that Super Sentai stop being good after 2002.

that may be true (though some of that "watch it online" is also with us in other countries); just hearing of the ratings dip, my first thought is "Super Sentai must be getting uninteresting." Not anything about taping the show or watching it later on the internet, hence why I said that about the story.

I'd say there was a massive change in 2001 with GaoRanger. Sentai lost something and this is coming from a person who started watching Sentai with GaoRanger.

Come on man. "One person on 2chan" is hardly a marker of accurate information. At least quote actual numbers. These are just baseless assumptions you're making otherwise.
