Dino Charge Ep 01 - Powers From the Past - Poll and Discussion
The first episode of Power Rangers Dino Charge doesn't air on television until February 7th, but if you have the Internet then you can watch it right now at Nick.com!
Watch as Judd Lynn totally re-writes the history of the world as the evil bounty hunter Sledge, his fiancee Poisandra, his mechanic Wrench, and his muscle Fury chase after The Keeper to get his 10 Energems only to end up with a couple of teenagers with attitude coming in to possession. The first episode of Power Rangers Dino Charge is here! Discuss and rate it! |
My thoughts from the Rumor thread:
Well I watched the first episode and proceeded to like it. It was a really, really nice first episode. I can't say I'm a fan of all the voice acting (Keeper and Poisandra were great), and the human acting while not terrible isn't all that great. But I'm shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I love the backstory they set up and the idea that the MOTWs will be criminals Sledge captured, very creative idea there. I really liked the characters too. Shelby and Chase are already my two favorites of the show, and Tyler is pretty nice too, can't say anything about Koda yet though. The action was pretty good, the humor was actually funny to me, and yeah...I'd say this show has made me a fan. For the first time in 9 years I think I'm going to watch a PR season beginning to end. |
I really enjoyed it
|
It felt like old times. One thing isn't the blue ranger suppose to be a cave man?
|
We're only one episode in so I only have one episode to really express my feelings. In short?
I'm a very happy Power Rangers fan this morning. |
Not done yet, but I like the cold open.
|
Sentai will be happy. Candy has her costume whole. No changes.
|
10/10!
|
That was an awesome episode. Why do i feel like feeling sorry for Sledge for putting up with Poisandra lol? Reminded me of Dino Thunder in a way. And now i want a pet T-Rex lol.
|
There is so much to digest. We had two previous series references from Sledge (can you tell which two!?), as well as little easter eggs in Tyler's journal (Silurian Ranger did a great job looking it up), and a female character who wasn't portrayed as a sex symbol - in fact, she was the focus of the entire episode.
This is so promising it makes my head hurt. |
It was a nice start to the series, but now to see if the next few episodes can keep the pace & plot in sync with this.
|
A good start, better than anything the last two seasons threw at us at any rate.
Shame they created that weird looking thing to take Torin's role, there is just something about short stumpy aliens in Power Rangers that annoys me. |
I missed the references. But what I loved was all the orignal footage. Awesome sets. Those scenes with all the monsters was awesome, and original zord footage. Anyone who knows me knows my love of RPM, a lot due to the mass orignal footage. If that is what happens again here, we will have a very happy Sanddeath.

I'm absolutely blown away. The first episode of Dino Charge was amazing! I actually got over the Keeper's look really quickly.
|
It was pretty good and I want to see more. Great sets, decent acting and CG can be hit or miss for me. Fury is great and I love his voice. I do wish we can see more of Chase and Koda. Koda is a Caveman and we haven't seen any of that yet. How do they find him and how they did make him act like a 21st century human? I hope more can be explain later. 8/10 for me.

I kinda stop watching power rangers after Operation Overdrive and watched a small bit of Train Wreck Force and Super Train Wreck Force so I went in feeling like I would be disappointed. I was really surprised how good this was for episode 1. I won't be following since I really only follow Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure but I will be coming back for when the other members like Gold, cyan, violet, grey, ect. ect. show up. Over all I give this a 5/5.

Fantastic opening episode. The CGI is laughably bad (especially the T-Rex word, yeesh), but I'm not going to hold that against the episode because it was so damn good. All-new footage, competent acting, an interesting twist on the Kyoryuger villains...I'm definitely happy with that.
I really hope it can keep it up all season. The Samurai premiere had me hooked simply on the merit of Power Rangers returning and the Megaforce premiere got me on nostalgia. This was just enjoyment from start to finish. |
At the moment I am currently watching it, but so far, it's really great. Posiandra and Sledge are amazing and I absolutely adore Keeper. Everything about this show is just pure badassery. Love it. :D

I.
I fucking love PRDC. |

There was no role call, Keeper's eyes no longer seem off, the dialogue isn't a slog, the villains aren't the only remotely enjoyable part of the show, the villains are awesome, I actually care about the heroes again, I am just ecstatic! CHARGE UP! |
I like what I saw. My only negative remark is about the T-Rex. It looks soo much like a walking CGI Toy. I know it was designed like that for mecha purposes, but it just looks corny. Other than that It's great.
|
It was allllllllllllllllll so great! And Sledge actually is an intergalactic bounty hunter.
|
i loved it. cant wait for ep 2 in 2 weeks time. i am just blown. i just cant believe that i had theory since samurai that it would take this long for them to get back on track and i am so happy. i love tylor. his story reference is simuler to Ryan steels from VR troopers with his dad missing for 10 years. also one of the JF monsters was in the bounty list.
|
I applaud this episode. I like that after so many years saban created another villain that wasn't even in sentai. I wish torin was in this but I can let that slide
|
So are we never seeing Keeper again or his he just going to pop up again at some point?

(I'm almost 100 percent sure.) |
It's a series regular role. He'll return.
|
Why do I have the feeling that SOMEONE is going to hate this because of the lack of Sentai footage?
|
Not the biggest PR guy in the world but I really enjoyed this one. I liked that they didnt use any Kyoryuger material and that everything was pretty original. Even the things they burrowed like Keeper working together with the Dinosaurs and Tylers missing Dad were handled differently. The characters also look very promising and I bow to the guys who wrote the script cause for the first time in years the dialogue actually felt pretty authentic and dare I say normal.
The acting was a bit stale here and there and I didnt care for most of the villains voice acting besides Sledge. Sledge is just awesome and by far my favorite part about this episode. So yeah...I dug it and I´m actually looking forward to the enxt one. |
I don't know about the Keeper. He may come back. But something about that Kendall chick seems off. Maybe she is the Keeper in disguise? I mean he is an alien and whatnot. Or maybe she's working for the Keeper, that's why she's so snippy about Museum policy and Fossils? Because she knows what she's looking for?
|
Faith Restored. They didn't shout their names during the opening, the opening isn't a remix of the original theme. The cast can actually freaking act. The Keeper is like a little Jedi badass. And Poisondra.. I actually like her.
Judd Lynn, you may save this fandom yet. |
Watched the show last night and had time to collect by relevant thoughts. Keep in mind I generally think the franchise has been a joke for the better part of a decade in terms of story telling and acting.
- ADR is so much better than it's ever been in the last 5 years. Seriously can't believe everyone's voice doesn't sound totally disembodied. Still really sick of hearing the same generic laser sound effects for everything but the voice work has improved substantially. - Acting is definitely an improvement over the last 4 seasons too. These are actual people on screen and not cardboard robots. Everyone had a moment to shine this episode and if Koda continues to essentially be the american Nossan then I will continue to love him. - Shocked that the only stock Kyoryuger footage I could find in this episode was in the intro not the actual episode so I applaud that. However please please Keeper go away and never come back. Kill it with fire. I get that this is a kids show but I see no reason to have taken the appropriately heroic and awesome Torin suit and replace him as the mentor with that thing. But the story of him being chased by Sledge and his crew was quite nice. Also really cool to see the tons of monster cameos on Sledge's ship. I already saw Deathryuger's Deboss monster form in there which was cool. Overall that scene evoked feelings of Time Force for me. - Seriously Sledges collection of Asteroids killed off the dinosaurs? Essentially a geologist just killed off an entire species :lol Speaking of it's interesting to see he and Poisandra be engaged. That will require a lot of original footage itself to illustrate that relationship. But given how much was available in this episode I'm guessing we'll be treated to much more from here on out. Honestly the overall episode was great. It's easily the single best episode of Power Rangers I've seen in a good 10 years. To me at least it's been an unbroken chain of disappointing seasons and half realized ideas since SPD. So this was incredibly refreshing to see. Bravo to Chip Lynn for making Power Rangers the fun show that it once was again. Hopefully he can keep up the momentum built by this episode. |

This was definitely a great episode. All original footage, all the characters seemed amazing, and the villains were even interesting. I loved Airagons Squatt/Baboo like voice.
Best episode of the last few years. |
Can anyone tell me where to watch this if I'm in the UK?
