Still on crack I see

This was such a fun episode! Mach really had a showcase here as Dead Heat, it totally looks fucking amazing. It was nice learning about Rinna and her past. I also love Harley Hendrickson he is so much fun, I hope he comes back and does more than he did in Super-1 (the actor). I loved Kiriko's kick against Mach to stop him. I am intrigued about Chase and hope they reprogram him soon.

Good episode. This two parter was pretty alright but not as awesome as the one before that. But its still an improvement over the first ten episodes of the show. The Cops were unfunny as usual but I really liked Harley Hakase. He is so over the top batshit insane. There were some nice bits with Medic and Heart but Brain keeps turning into my least favorite character in the show even below the cop guys. Brain is just kinda useless and I dont get his whole Heart obsession.

Dead Heats fight this week was pretty awesome even though the form still looks pretty crappy.

Hm... Professor Harley was the best thing about this episode. Don't really feel Drive at the moment. Maybe because they just reset Chaser and forced him into the villain-role again.

Next episode kinda feels like the one from W with the Cockroach-Dopant already.

The other cops were still unfunny. Doesnt matter if their boss is their or not.

And yes it is Harley Hakase. Hendrickson is his last name while Hakase is the japanese word for Professor. So Professor Harley = Harley Hakase.

Well looks more like you got your story wrong.

The Episode with the Girl thinking W was her father were Episodes 5 and 6 with the Anomalocaris Dopant.

The Cockroach Dopant episodes were 7 and 8 were Philip wanted to learn how to do the Heavens Tornado dance.

Okay but why someone think next episode feel like Cockroach one? In W, Philip wanted to dance but next episode will have Gen-san quit the force for some reason that's different!

Isn't it obvious that I'm comparing the monsters by writing „Cockroach-Dopant episode“ instead of „Philip learns to dance episode“?

The next Roidmude offers his powers to people who hire him, same with the Cockroach-Dopant. Of course the backstory is entirely different, I just get a similar vibe from it since the monster is doing the exact same thing.

Full Break Bat! Ha, Chase did a Rider Kick! I really liked Mach in this episode, especially when he went super speed. I also like Dead Heat on him better. Not bad, still holding my interest :D

Well... I finally got the chance to watch the episode. It was a great episode. Loved Deadheat and finally! Harley Hakase has premiered! Loved him. He reminded me of my late great grandfather. :lol Also, the Kiriko Kick at the end was just too hilarious. Shinnosuke and Gou continue to be one of my favorite Riders. :D

This was a good episode and I must say Harley Hendrickson reminds me of my uncle. Also brain is jelly of medic.

Wow I can't believe that it's already 17 episodes, because but it feels like not all too much happened. I enjoyed Wizard more at this point than I do Drive. I just, I think the toys look fine but the show just isnt doing it for me. Our main rider is just so one dimensional, the rest of the cast just annoy me. I really hope the next rider isn't as one dimensional.

Honestly I think what keeps me going for this show is just Chase himself... Like I would so dig a spin off or a one movie spin off of Chase. Be it as him Proto-Drive, Mashin Chase, or Kamen Rider Chaser.

I'm with you on most of this. Drive does some things well, but a lot of it gets buried under all of the things that don't work, especially the forced comedy. I wish they'd focus more on the police work, drop all the bad jokes, and stop drawing out the Chase story.

The Problem with Shinnosuke is that he hasnt any conflict in the show. He is just Shinnosuke. He had all of his character development in the first few episodes with him loosing his drive to go forward after what happened during the global freeze and him not willing to accept a new Partner after what happened. He already had his opportunity for change and he took it. He moved on, accepted Kiriko as his new partner and is just fighting the Roidmudes now. He has no conflict beyond that.

All of the other characters have the reverse problem. Gou and Chase have alot of conflict in the show but the show itself doesnt do anything with it. We get hints at Gou struggling with the Mach system and his hatred for the Roidmudes but the show never devlops that beyond some hints here and there. Same with Chase. Chase has an interesting situation with him being a Roidmude whose base programming was protecting humans but got in conflict with his new programming to kill those same humans he got programmed to protect. But yet again the show never went anywhere with it and Chase himself never did anything interesting. Besides being Roadblock, fighting Drive ( and ultimately running away), holding his head a whole bunch and talking in a deep voice the character has done absolutely nothing in the show to make him an interesting or layered character.

Drive is a show with alot of potential in its characters and how they could interact but never takes any of those chances to actually do something with them beyond soem standard plots that ultimately just get us back to statsu quo after every two episodes.

Shinnosuke had these brief inabilities to use the new forms but that was too short lived IMO.

Him struggling to use the Drive system could have been some nice conflict for him but with the onslaught of new forms they really werent able to do much with it. It was there for the introduction but went away as soon as he first successfully transformed.

Even the fact that he uses the same system the Roidmudes are based on and having the power to create slowdowns could have been something at least.

That's what I saw quite a lot in recent Heisei Sentai & KR series, main characters "trained" really hard to be able to use something (usually mecha/suit/weapon/power-up), but in a few episodes later they can use it with ease and drop the constraint completely.

How about Gentaro AKA Fourze? He didn't have much character development! He's just happy-go-lucky guy!

I think Gentaro, Souji and Haruto are only 3 Kamen Rider that don't have much Character Development

Souji Tendo is just like a guy that can do anything and yet he always defeat Worm so easily


Haruto Soma is just some handsome man who only care for Koyomi so her father could revived her but fail

The difference is though while Genataro himself didnt have much development he helped other characters to develop. Gentaro was the moral center of the show and supported the other character so they in turn could mature and become better people in the end.

I think for me, the biggest issue is that he can't seem to get out of a jam without having to rely on a Shift Car or Trideron to bail him out.

As with Drive so far on an episode by episode basis it has been enjoyable but yeah the plot hasn't really been moving forward so much.

I would say the the handling of the plot has been quite slow so far and it could benefit with having thing stick such as with Chase actually gaining his memories and then it would have increased conflict between the riders as Gou clearly hates any and all roidmudes.

this is what happens when writers are always throwing toys at everything, most of the toys being used are short lived and most of the time are useless.

everything should be concentrated on the primary forms and the main vehicles nothing else, it's waste of time and money.

Again with everyone hating Gou for Hate The Roidmude?

Roidmude's goal was to destroy humanity

This is what I really think abou thte toys. These shift cars dont do that much on their own at all. The tires can only look so interesting for so long until they become boring. The modules in Fourze were better to me because at least there they had some use, such as speakers, giant boots etc. At least there the gimmick wasn't just a repaint, each switch did something interesting in my opinion. Same with rings. Drive here just seems to be pushing the toys more than any other rider show, and not in a good way.

This show lately has really started to feel like it decided to take the scenic route with it's plot and characters (except Chase but the show forced him into roadblock).

Things in this show just keep reverting back to status quo pretty much every time something interesting starts happening. And I don't like that at all.


It'd be fine if the individual Roidmude plots were exciting, but they're honestly boring.

And I do have to agree with the sentiments about being surprised that we're already 17 episodes in because, honestly, I really do feel like nothing has changed story-wise besides the secondary rider being introduced.

I think we need a Roidmude death counter or Roidmude remaining counter because honestly I'm losing track of how many are still around. :lol

Honestly, I keep forgetting that we're only 17 episodes in. It seems like the show's been dragging on a lot longer than that. That is not a feeling that bodes well for this spring and summer.

I think I've watched enough Rider series to say that it's not the best, but not the worst. They're trying real hard to match the hard boiled approach of W, but giving it the comedy timing of Oren's bits from Gaim.

The most interesting thing comes in Heart's machinations.

I wouldn't necessarily say I hate Drive or that it's the worst Rider series I've ever seen (Hi, Decade!) but it's really failing to maintain my interest outside of Gou and Chase, who are pretty much my main reasons for watching the show. Shinnosuke's not a bad character, but he hasn't had much internal conflict since the beginning of the show. You'd think that with Chase being revealed to be Proto-Drive, that would add an interesting dynamic to Shinnosuke's character arc, but nope. They kinda just introduce that plot point, and then it's back to status quo.

It feels like they realized that they didn't have enough plot for a 45+ episode series, so now they're trying to stretch things out, but I don't like it, and from what I hear, Wizard had the exact same problem.

So yeah, the show returns to the status quo... It's going decently so far, but I hope something interesting happens soon. It feels just like Wizard again, and that is not extremely good...

As much as I dont want to admit it there sadly are alot of parallels between Drive and Wizard in regards to the pacing.

The show is really really slow paced and not much is happening. I find the main cast of characters alot more enjoyable though aside from the other male cops in the Special Crimes Unit.

I really hope the show goes some more interesting places in the twenties.

I hope it will too. Maybe if they introduce someone who has an interesting character, and have a better over-arching plot... Seriously, even Wizard had a better series-plot at this point. I think. Something involving Phoenix and the Despair/Dragon bit.

Wizard really hadnt anythin regarding a plot at this point. The Pheonix thing happened in the twenties with the introduction of All-Dragon. The whole Dragon/Despair thing was also something they never really touched upon.

Most of Wizards story was just them saying mysterious thing over and over again and hinting at stuff that could maybe happen but way never payed off.

It all boiled down to Haruto getting some new power and White Wizard standing way back on some hill saying "Hes even more powerful now bla blah blah" but nothing you could call a real story.

I feel like we were going some where with Chase, and now were back to square one.

The Proto Drive small DVD episode was far more interesting than anything these past 2-3 episodes as of late.

DeadHeat Drive/Mach is underwhelming.
