Shuriken Sentai Ninninger Episode 1- "WE ARE NINJA!" Discussion
Happy Ninja Day, everyone! :D
After a year of rumors and a tragic delay, the time has come at last for the 39th Super Sentai to take the stage. As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams are at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Looking forward to this, looks like fun.
|
alot of people on youtube are posting the ninninger toys already, looks like they are ready for this episode.
|
I might have to check this stream out because it will probably be a few days before the first episode is subbed.
|
Get hyped!

Uh... it's on right now? That sucks as it won't even let me rewind teh stream.
|
I'm not even getting video, just audio. So yeah, guess I'm waiting for subs.
|
That was pretty good. The Robo sequence was my favorite.
|
First episode of Ninninger was solid but overall pretty average. The technical aspects impressed me much much more at the moment.
|
HOLY SHIT! That was an awesome opening episode! The opening fight sequence was very reminiscent of Shinkenger, but it was also very badass. The mech fight was probably one of the best/funniest/most hype I have ever seen in sentai. And I have seen a lot of sentai. The comedy was subtle, but effective and each ranger had ability; right now no one seems to be better than the others. And I dig that.
The hype level for this season is beyond maximum capacity; I am ready for more ninnin goodness |

I love how they intro up to the mecha in one ep and not feel rushed.
Takaharu has the right level of optimism and cojones as a red hero. Yakumo I feel is the perfect pessimist for this show. Nagi feels like he will do well as the class clown. Fuuka is definitely the lil' sister of the show. Kasumi is not that cold as I thought based on the leaked info earlier. Well, this week was fun. Wonder what next week will bring. |
First impression was good overall. I'm not that happy with the acting, but thank god that's something they'll improve on. The story was okay so far. The strong point of the show so far is the action. Both the fighting in and out of suit looked great, as well as the mecha-fight. That one was lovely. Also a big YAY for the ending dance!
So far, I'm not super-excited about what we've seen so far, but I'm still looking forward to next week. |
just watched it and i got to say
it was average but it has potential to be something epic and from the way things are turning the 6th sentai will be a friendly type of guy just like shinkengold gaah can we get a silent type cool 6th sentai that's comes and save the 5 heros and then looks down on them and tell's them that they are weak or something i really missed those T_T next year is the 40th sentai series im hyped to see what are they planing to do with it AkaRed might show up. |
So where shall I get the subs from within the next couple of days?

Where can i watch the first episode?
Where can i watch it? |
Just caught it, liked it :D. I could see some Shinkenger parallels in this first episode, had a nice balance of humor and seriousness. Well, maybe not balance, there was a bit more humor in my opinion. Especially a pun involving a banana. But that won't stop me, I'll keep watching this one :D
|
WOW. That was absolutely BONKERS! I love it! The dog mecha was useless, but still adorable. I think i will enjoy my first Sentai series.
|
Well that was good. Compare to ToQGer, it's definitely surpass in almost everything: Graphic, plot, mecha,... The henshin part is awesome, though it should be individual instead of the whole team like in a crossover movie (maybe next episodes will show that). Mecha part is a bit short but still awesome. However, I see this debut episode had more fun, goofy, awkward parts than it should be, which reminded me of the ToQGer though. Fuka (Shironinger) is just like Kagura 2.0, haha
Still a good episode, wait for more surprise next week. |

there spirit might show up again or by some logic they faked there death or something or we might get 5 or 10 years later Gokaiger |
AND I BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE NINJA TOO!
Sorry, sorry... Couldn't help it. |
Just watched the raw of it. So far i love all of them. Not a fan of the intro or ending. I thought the first episode was good
I thought Toqgers was alittle better. |
i love grandpa scared them at end
|
Watched the raw, man that was fantastic! The battles with the Ninningers themselves are really good, but: The mecha battle! Freakin' fantastic!
We saw some of it with Shinobimaru hiding inside the building, but all of them were amazing! Love how they use the city with ninja-tactics, hiding inside buildings, using flipping streets like real ninjas used a tatami to block attacks. And I love the Japanese visuals blended in with every attack, very cool. I definitely continue watching, and if I had the money I would order Shurikenjin on the spot. Oh well, later then. And Shironinger, you better watch out, Kaito is coming for you! |
For those curious, the suit actor for Shinobimaru is a man named Fujita Satoshi.
Few of his notable previous works are: Kamen Rider W: Claydoll Dopant Kamen Rider OOO: Mezool Kamen Rider Fourze: Virgo Dopant Kamen Rider Wizard: Kamen Rider Mage, Ghoul Kamen Rider Gaim: Kamen Rider Marika, Kamen Rider Jam |
That man pulled some really impressive stuff in that suit!

Fun little trivial stuff I noticed during this episode was that good number of the visual pieces in the Ukiyoe-like backdrop are composed of the names of our heroes:
- The name Takaharu literally means clear sky, and can also be pronounced as appare, which is the Japanese word for splendid, magnificent or good job. So in this case, I think it is safe to say that a 'splendid' red sun is placed to represent a clear sky. - Yakumo, when translated literally, translates into eight clouds, but is actually a Japanese word used to describe thick clouds. - Nagi means calm or lull(of the waters). Normally people will think "how can yellow be associated with water?" Well, if you look at his catchphrase "kirameki no nagi" and the image of a sparkling yellow body of water during his nanori or introduction, this is most likely referring to either the color of the calm waters either during sunset/sunrise or the color of the sparkles when the sunlight hits the calm waters on a bright and sunny day. (I like to think of it as the color of the calm waters either during sunset/sunrise considering the end product of the backdrop) -Kazabana is another way of reading Fuuka, aka Shironinger's name, which is the Japanese word for snow flurry. -Kasumi is literally mist. So if you take the above into consideration and look at the backdrop when the Ninningers finish their nanori, You can see a red sun that represents a clear sky, blue thick clouds, calm and sparkling yellow waters, white snowflakes, and pink mists incorporated into the Ukiyoe-like backdrop. |
s but I can say I love the back to basic pratincole live action mecha combination they did.
|
Isn't it fitting that this show premiered on the same day as "Ninja Day" in Japan?
