Michael Copon who played Time Force Blue Ranger is making a Independent Movie with Power Rangers in it. He is asking for funding on indiegogo to help him finance this movie.

Nifty. I hope it gets done. But by looking at how much they need and how little time the have left, I doubt it'll become a reality. I really do wish they are able to get the funds they need.

When reading the page he said it will have character Lucas and Wes in it but they want be morphing so that what he means power rangers be in it.

This description confuses me greatly. So it's not a Power Rangers film and will feature original characters, but is titled as "independent Power Rangers movie" and stars Wes and Lucas?

I assume it basically means "not actual suit footage" but boy is that a long-winded way of getting the point across.

I don't know, maybe it's like Dirty Laundry and you see them being heroes without their powers? Actually a better question would be if this has Lucas in it, where exactly is it falling timeline wise?

It's refreshing to see an independent power rangers move that's NOT trying to be adult MMPR

Why not just enjoy that people are vested in Power Rangers so much that they're willing to share their vision and creativity? If folks can write fan fiction, why is it so terrible for folks to do fan films? It's the same general concept.

Nobody said its a bad thing? It's the fact that in a matter of months we've gone from no fan films to a whole bunch of them.

It's important to note as I see a lot of fans are confused:

This is NOT a Power Rangers fan film. This is an entirely original creation featuring a cop from the future who travels in to the past and teams up with a current-day individual. It will star former Power Rangers actors, but the movie itself is NOT Power Rangers, it is NOT set in the Power Rangers Universe.

Then maybe Michael Copon shouldn't have called it the "Independant Power Ranger Movie" :lol

The entire thing is a little misleading. The name of the project, as well as the promotional images, showcase Power Rangers pretty hard. But when you read through it it's basically - "THIS IS THE MOVIE YOU POWER RANGERS FANS HAVE WANTED! IT'S JUST NOT GOING TO BE POWER RANGERS! OR EVEN SET IN THE POWER RANGERS UNIVERSE!"

It makes it kind of tough to report on. How do I report it? Ex Power Rangers Actors Come Together to Create Power Rangers Film That Isn't Power Rangers?

I do wish the project the best however and look forward to seeing what they come up with.

Here's the thing for those asking why. Because when not just one but multiple actors get completely involved in making something that they feel is not just a film to get rich from, not from a want to get an award, or not from a position of corporate shill. And because its for fans and they love the concepts of their original roles they played over 10, 15 plus years ago that much to want to make something like this, it's like they're saying thank you to us fans.

I can see partially what might happen is that this gets lost in the mix, kind of like we saw with Transformers. Paramount completely went full retard with the franchise. And yeah, it's one project of a million, but there is a difference in that this is pretty much bought in by a lot of prior actors from previous series. And if it actually comes out better than some of the crap I pay 13 bucks for in a theater, I'm all for it.

Edit: Yeah, after careful thought about this, it does seem more like an indy sci-fi project with just a bunch of people that Copon happens to know that happen to have played parts in series marketed under Saban Brands (a subsidiary of mayonnaise). We hope that it doesn't come across like Sharknado, but it could, which would be just fine, but at least won't be all NSFW. So much for excitement.

From what little I've heard it seems more like a one sided grudge on JDF's part.

Yeah, it seems like he's holding onto 20-something year old grudges while everyone else has moved on.

Dunno, I've asked round here before but no one's ever answered.

It's kind of sketchy but from what I can tell ASJ, when he was on the show, bragged about his supposed underground fighting credentials and claimed to have killed a guy. JDF saw through this and won't let it go.
While ASJ was in the wrong to lie he was still a teenager when first cast, and well...teenagers make crap up all the time to seem "cool." So while it was silly it's also not something anyone should hold against him twenty years later.
JDF still does though, badmouthing the guy at every opportunity while constantly challenging ASJ to MMA fights while ASJ was oversees with the army and unable to really respond. So it's really a petty feud from when they were both teenagers/young adults that JDF won't let go of while ASJ has by all appearances moved on.

Again though, that's only my understanding of it.
