(I was two in 1999.) |
Ah. The 90s. Particularly the early 90s.
The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles craze was still going strong with the cartoon series, the toys, and the first two live-action movies in back-to-back years. If you could think it, it had TMNT plastered on it. The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was the system to own with great games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Mega Man 3, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Crystalis, StarTropics, Batman, Super C, Gremlins 2, TMNT II: The Arcade Game, Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers, and a slew of other games just in 1990 alone. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and Sega Genesis would come out and introduce the world to the awesomeness of 16-BIT POWER!!! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would arrive in 1993 to topple the TMNT craze with its own that also like the TMNT line is around to this day in some form. Food wise... The Monster Cereals were on shelves ALL YEAR ROUND instead of just Halloween. Count Chocula, Franken Berry, and Boo Berry. Also, the Nintendo Cereal with its two separate bags. Fruity Super Mario and Berry Legend of Zelda. |
... You people. I miss the 90's. The 90's were my shit.
|
My 90's experience was music and television.
I remember seeing Batman Mask of the Phantasm, the single best Batman animation movie I think they've ever made. Listening to everything from Dishwalla to Seven Mary Three. Watching Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Tail Spin, on the television. In the 90's Disney produced some really excellent cartoons. |
The mid-late 90's was my childhood. Those days where awesome.
|
You guys remember that one kid in school who had THIS?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anjyiO754hU It was the iphone 6 for kids in kindergarten ~ grade 3 circa 1993. GOSH how jealous I was. Quote:

The 90's were fun. Lots of cartoons and toys that I loved. Beast Wars, Gargoyles, Darkwing Duck, Pokemon (Anime and games), Celebrity Deathmatch, Jurassic Park, Power Rangers, Digimon, Mulan, Hercules, Aladdin, Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Prince of Egypt, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Men in Black, Rush Hour, non-existent internet, and Lego.
Loved it~ |
Eh, the 90s were okay, but they were no 80s.
|
The Warner Bros. and Disney store/s. That is all.
|
Hey, remember KBToys? Whenever I couldn't go to a Toys R Us, I always dragged my parents to a KBToys.

Then there were shows like Ronin Warriors, Zoids Chaotic Century, Gundam Wing, and the original D.I.C Sailor Moon dub.

My favorite cartoons during the 90's as a kid that I watched where: A Pup Named Scooby-Doo Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Animaniacs Anything on Nickelodeon Arthur Batman: TAS Batman Beyond Beast Wars Captain N Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers Dragon Ball/Z Darkwing Duck Digimon Season 1 Duck Tails Inspector Gadget (80's cartoon but I did grow over watching re-runs of it on Nickelodeon) Gargoyles Gundam Wing The Magic School Bus Most reruns of classic cartoons from the 40's-70's on Cartoon Network Pretty much anything on Cartoon Network Pink and the Brain Pokemon Street Sharks Sonic SatAM Spider-Man: The Animated Series Spawn: The Animated Series (Yeah it was for adults but so what. Spawn was the coolest superhero of the 90's. Most kids where into the cool demonic hero at the time) The Real Ghostbusters Tiny Toons X-Men: The Animated Series I could list down more but that it's for now. Watching TV and playing video games was my biggest thing growing up as a kid. |

It sucked because it never had what I wanted. I still went anyway :p |
I think the only 90's cartoons that I remember hating as a kid was Dragon Tails, Sonic Underground, C Bear and Jamal and Captain Planet. Was Sheep in the Big City also 90's because I hated that show when it was on CN. I would change the channel or turn off the TV when it was on. The show was unfunny and painful to sit through.
|
Ohhh, I loved Sonic Underground. Was my inroduction to the Sonic franchise in general. I was kinda amazed at how different the games were from the show, though.

On another topic, anyone remember Maui t-shirts and Stussy clothes? |

One of my found memories of the 90's when I remember playing the Sega Genesis and SNES when I was pre-school and kindergarten. I never had a SNES but I did had a Sega Genesis. The Genesis kicked ass and I had so many games on it. I would play the SNES at my friends house or my cousins house. |
I used to play Sonic with a friend, but that was much later.
As a kid, I owned a Gameboy color which I only used on vacation because playing videogames made me nervous and anxious for some reason (which is ironic, because during middle-/highschool, I was a gamer. Not hardcore, but I spent weekends in front of the console quite often). I sometimes borrowed games like Tetris or Mario from friends, as I only owned crappy games for TV shows myself (like the smurfs), until I got Pokémon Gold for my 11th birthday. |
I feel really old now.
|
I feel old looking through all of this. :lol
|
Who here had pogs? Raise of hands.
|
I did. I never got why they where popular since I had them as a kid too.
|
I remember Pogs.
Man, those things went out of style so quickly it's like a dream :lol |
Liquid Television.

I was born in 1993, so I remember some shows that were popular during that time, like Pokemon and Digimon. I'm also a huge fan of some 90s anime such as Gundam X, Escaflowne, Sailor Moon, Ie Naki Ko Remi, other World Masterpiece Theater anime, etc. But I was too young when Sailor Moon was in its heyday in America, and didn't watch it until some years ago. I do remember liking Toy Story, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. I absolutely adore Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

If I had to choose a decade I liked the most I'd say 90s by a longshot. Tons of cool shows, games, TV shows, you name it; the 90s had something awesome relating to it. I still can't believe the big thing now is realism and being all mopey and shit. I want to have another fun decade before I die. |
