*inhuman and unmanly squeals*

Is this Deka's 10th anniversary or something? They usually have some sort of reason like that to do a special release like this.
|
Dekaranger on Blu-ray? But Dekaranger came out in 2004. We didn't have HD back in that year.

It was a widely successful series though... |
I am so ridiculously excited for these sets!!
And yeah, Dekaranger was super popular. Toei seriously considered a second season, the series was the first in ages to have its Power Rangers version dubbed into Japanese (because SPD was also awesome, come on) and a bunch of actors made appearances in Gokaiger. Not to mention the many Dekaranger Gokai Changes and its appearance in Akibaranger. I'm surprised Toei hasn't made another space sci-fi series since Dekaranger. |

Too bad HD didn't exist back in 2004.

Modern HD specifications go back to the 60s. But that's irrelevant assuming Dekaranger was shot on film. Film doesn't have a limit like DV, even HD DV. In theory, a raw, pristine film from the 30s would look just as good if not better than the best 4k resolution. That's why you see so many old movies released on blu-ray, it's an attempt to get as close to film quality without having a projector. However, something else to consider is there is no universal standardized meaning for HD. In North America it's anything with more than 480 horizontal lines. For Europe, 576. 720 is usually the minimum norm most companies use. But let's say, for the sake of argument, it's 613 horizontal lines for Japan. If Dekaranger's release has 680, they could still technically call it HD. |
That is really sweet to hear.

Oh yes.
