All these web exclusives I've been wanting sure make me wish we still had our own middleman, as short lived as that was.. Don't recall his fees being all that bad, which is the thing I think of right away when seeing something is an exclusive.

But it looks like Nippon-Yasan is going to be getting more of my money soon. At least Sigurd I actually really want out of who is left.

This figure is a must-have for me. Love his design, loved to hate his character, and it's the last energy Rider and second-to-last Rider left for the series (minus Jam).

If I was collecting Gaim Figuarts, I think I'd be content with just a two-sided photo printout of this guy. ;)

Why is he a web exclusive? He was a prominent part of the show.

Yes, I know others were exclusives, but Sid was an important character. Plus, they didn't make a worthless nobody like Kivala exclusive.

Because Gaim isn’t airing anymore, and Tamashii thinks other figures would sell better at retail.

So were Duke, Zangetsu Shin, Marika, Gridon, Bravo...

So were Professor Ryoma, Takatora, Yoko Minato, Jonouchi, Oren Pierre Alfonzo...

Probably because the worthless nobody has a design that is bound to sell in Japan and because Shinkoccho Seiho Decade is on his way.

Oh, and because thankfully you're not the one who set's the worth of a character or a design for everyone else.

Sid was the first Energy Rider to bite it and won MAYBE two fights. Duke, Marika, and especially Shin Zangetsu, not to mention Bravo and Gridon were all far more important characters with more action and impact on the plot than Sid, and they all got released as web exclusives as well. The pattern is core characters and major upgrades are mass release, secondary and minor upgrades/form changes are WE.

That's the way it's been, that's likely the way it's going to continue to be.

Did we watch the same show? The only character lower than Sid on the totem pole was Kurokage. Plus the main four Riders are the only ones thus far that have been released at retail, and even Zangetsu and Baron's upgrade forms have been exclusive, despite them being quite important parts of the show.

You had absolutely zero reason to believe Sigurd would be releasing at retail after Bravo, Duke, Marika, Zangetsu-Shin, Kurokage and Gridon ALL released at exclusives.


Kivala was almost certainly released to coincide with Decade, plus she's a central character to the show despite the form itself being underused.

How is she central to the show? I don't even remember her in the show at all.

As for Sid, he was far more important than Kurokage, Mr Dangerous, and Ornac combined.

I know Kivala is only in the movie but you must have really not been paying attention to know that Natsumi was a main character who appeared in every single episode of Decade.

Kivala is a completely left field mass release, but Sigurd was always gonna be web exclusive because unlike her he isn't a freak one off. He's part of a larger cast that are now all gonna be exclusives.

Plus Decade designs are obviously popular enough in Japan to warrant mass releases. Remember Abyss?

Uh... No, I disagree with that. Kurokage's death/disappearance affected several characters through to the end of the show. Bravo became a major ally and mentor figure to Gridon, and then the rest of the Beat Riders as the Helheim saga started up. Gridon had some of the most steady character development of the show, and arguably more than anyone that wasn't Gaim, Baron, or Ryugen.

Sid's two biggest contributions to the plot were distributing the Drivers and lockeseeds, and killing Hase. He was barely present as a villain for the Beat Rider saga, and he became irrelevant as soon as the Helheim saga kicked into full gear.

Yup. I was going to say all of this. Sid was essentially a jobber villain for a majority of his time in the series. Hell, Gridon even got his own episode in the series.

Natsumi is Kivala? I don't remember that ever happening.

Gridon? I'm assuming you mean Ornac, so Jounouchi, right? I thought he was absolutely worthless as the show would have been the same without him. He was nothing more than a comic relief lackey who did very little to the main plot.

Considering his actual name is Gridon he means Gridon.

IN Dr. Kain's defense, when he was first introduced, Kurokage called him Ornac.

No he didnt call him that. He called him Gridon. Ornac is a particular sub groups' translation of his name to try and localize the joke into English. Ornac is meant to be a play on the word Acornm which is the english translation of the word Donguri, which is where his actual name Gridon comes from.

Well, I only had the sub episode I watched to go off of. So you can't blame me for saying what I said and trying to defend Dr. Kain.

The whole point of Gridon's entire story arc is that he wasn't the most competent fighter of the Riders, but he doesn't have to be. He started off the series being a slimy, cowardly pest who would readily put his friends in harms way to get ahead, but then he matured, started to feel regret and take responsibility for his actions and, despite not being the best fighter of the group, still fought to protect what he loved and do what he thought was right.

Yeah, Gridon may not have been as competent as the other cast members but that just emphasizes how courageous he is. That's the whole point of "Never Give Up!"

I mean, his character arc literally reinforces the entire theme of the show. Which is more than you can say for Sid, mostly because he didn't have a character arc.

Except for the fact that every single piece of Gridon-related merchandise is LABELED "Gridon", yeah.

Well sorry, but Aesir called him Ornac, so that is what I knew him as and what I still end up calling him. Maybe I would care differently if I found him to be a worthwhile character. I mean, he wasn't horrible, but like i said, he was comic relief.

Yeah, but... We don't call Ryugen "Dragon Gun", and we don't call Gaim "Armor". They literally say "Gridon" when referring to... well, Gridon, when they don't call him by his given name. Or rather, "Guridon", because Japanese pronunciation. I get where you're coming from, but dude, you gotta pay attention to context.

I'm not. Nihon's video quality is vastly inferior to everyone else's and they take forever to get something out. If I never had to download another Nihon release after they complete Agito and Kuuga in 10 years I'll be quite pleased.

And yeah if I knew how to make dioramas I'd probably do it myself but I'd need a Roshuo to go with it.

Tutorials aren't hard to come by.

As for the Roshuo... can't help there.
