The last sentai

Is Ninninger the last sentai series? My friend who is a pretty big fan read that somewhere on the internet but I havent found anything on it. If anyone knows if this is legit information then please confirm it here. Thank you.

I remember there being a similar “rumour” about Goukaiger.

As I understand it, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai are funded/ driven by merchandise. Perhaps Bromithius’ friend had heard/ read that Ninninger’s line isn’t selling very well?

I know the figuarts figures sell very well for sentai. Glad everyone is saying otherwise to the supposed cancellation, I appreciate that.

Now hopefully a new one could have a kung fu theme like DaiRanger.

As long if merchandise sales are good then the series will keep on going. Same with Power Rangers in the US. Most kids shows are toy commercials even some of them are not obvious about it.

Seriously? That makes me sad, I really like the sentai figuarts... is there really no hope in it coming back?

I think it just had to do with fans wanting full teams, but only Red and 6ths were bringing in acceptable sales.
(Note: I could be entirely wrong. I'm just making an assumption)

Figuarts are not apart of the main toy line for the Sentai and Kamen Rider. Role play toys, DX mecha toys, gimmicky toys, candy toys and soft vinyl figures is pretty much are the main toys for the series. Also other merchandise sales for stuff like pencils, toothbrushes, backpacks, t-shirts, shoes and video games also go into sales as well.

The Ninninger Toys are the 3rd best-selling toyline for Bandai this year, Kamen Rider Drive being 4th.
So yes, this year Sentai was stronger than Kamen Rider.

So far, the only time Sentai was almost cancelled was when Carranger was on air. After the major problems Ohranger had, Carranger was supposed to be Sentai's farewell but it saved the franchise instead.

The problem is that Sentai is more of a kids' franchise and there's not many adult fans buying those, unlike with Kamen Rider, which is more popular in all age groups.
However, Sentai's success is determined by the main toyline, which are the items for children. And as long as those work and the ratings are okay, Sentai will be safe.

I wouldn't have said they even sold that well then. If anything all Akibaranger did was give them a platform to promote them properly on.

I really appreciate your insight on all of your answers. Sun Vulcan was the latest figuarts that they did and I hope they continue doing more or at least completing the teams they didn't finish yet.

What is your take on that? Do you think they will finish any of the uncompleted teams in the SH Figuarts line? I certainly hope so but it may just be just hopeful/wishful thinking.

Kamen rider is certainly pretty awesome, the only kamen rider series I've watched was the wizard ark. Also, a pleasant surprise is that they make quite a lot of kamen rider figuarts!

All in all, I'm glad that the sentai series looks pretty healthy despite the "almost" cancels like you mentioned before. Made me scared for the future of sentai since a lot of us here grew up with them.

Sentai figuarts at this point wont come back. The line can be considered dead at the moment.

I actually didn’t know that Goukaiger was intended to be the last “classic-styled” Sentai.

I never read anything about Goukaiger being the final series. I just came across a YouTube video in which the question, “Is Goukaiger the last Sentai?” was asked, which is why I put quotation marks around “rumour”; I didn’t read/ hear of it again after that.

In any case, it’s good to know that Ninninger’s toyline is selling well. :)

They never bothered to give us the sixth rangers for most of the seasons and for things like Boukenger and Jetman, they never even completed the core cast. They're unfinished, because the sales were likely very poor for what was released.

Kamen Rider Figuarts and toys in general do much better than Sentai. This season is a bit of an exception, with the ninja theme being hugely popular, but there's pretty much no chance of either show ending anytime soon.

Every series is the last Sentai season according to people.

Despite the fact that I haven't really enjoyed any series after Gokaiger all that much, and I would love for Sentai to take a rest, it will never happen.

I do wish however, that Toei would allow their writers to do what they want with the show the way they did with Carranger as it proved that letting your writers have fun makes the quality of the show better.

I actually think that might be part of the problem. Since Go-Buster, the writers have put too much emphasis on the fun side of things.

No, I don't mean making it comedy, I mean letting the writers have fun making the show. The reason Gaim turned out as solid as it did was because Urobutchy was given the freedom to do what he wanted to as long as he worked with the gimmick. It feels like the writers of Sentai are being constrained to only focuse on the gimmicks and nothing more.

It doesn't help that Toei has been focusing more on making a highly marketable show than in actually trying to make an engaging show with good characters. After Go-Busters tanked there has been an obvious effort to play everything as safely as possible with lots of stock characters and plots.
