Kamen Rider Drive Episode 46- "Why They Had To Fight" Discussion
The team has one last chance to stop the second Global Freeze and save all of humanity. Can they power through to victory??
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams are at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
You know. I didn't think I'd be able to say this, but I honestly think the emotional significance and performance of Chaser Mach overshadowed the laziness of the suit itself. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Chaser's viral cores showing up for a second for no reason and never again was kind of whatever, though. I forgive Mach for all of his worthlessness. He was truly badass in this episode.
I always love it when the final battle is stretched out over several episodes instead of just jammed in right at the end. Man, this show has gotten good. Recently Drive has been rising up in my personal ranks after every single episode. |

Inserting a different Signal Bike will add onto the current data on the belt (Signal Mach is loaded onto the belt's data) instead of replacing it (replacing/reloading it with Signal Chaser) and thus creates a temporary new Rider (form) as shown with Chaser's parts literally being added onto Mach. Doesn't really matter for DeadHeat because it was shared between Drive/Mach and had parts for both, being identical in every aspect except the Head piece which (in the toy line, if you move it down like 90 degrees, it becomes the Drive/Mach version). Punching power: 25.2 t. Kicking power: 30.5 t. Maximum jump height: 44.3 m. Maximum (base) running speed: 100 m. per 2.0 sec. Jeez, basically slightly stronger than Tridoron and slightly weaker in some places, but overall that's the power of Mach + Chaser and not having the whole damn car and its power source merge to allow Drive to keep up. _________________ I've really enjoyed this episode. But it was built on all the buildup of Mach being completely useless and ignored since his debut episodes and DeadHeat Mach. But hey, he gets to get a massive increase in stats to defeat Gold Drive where Type Tridoron had trouble fighting against Gold Drive. So props to him! Also why is Chase's jacket ripped and somewhat intact in that underground garage? Blasphemy! |
I think this episode belongs to Mach not only did he get a deserved upgrade(even if the suit was thrown last minute) but also that father-son relationship was ended really well, Banno's death by axe should've been done by Kiriko to avenge Chase though. Anyways, that fight scene in the beginning officially secures Drive as having the most "feel" moments in my book. Couldn't hold myself back when Chaser appeared in that Rider kick vs Rider Kick. NOTE--I love the camera work within this whole scene; zooming in on important emotions & dialogue!
Medic's death...its a good death but WHY IN TOMARI'S HANDS?! Her death should have been with Heart or her power to both at least. Type Over finally shows itself so that was another plus! Preview: *sniffs* This is it...final episode... FULL THROTTLE TILL THE END |

The reason of why Medic in Tomari's Hands because at first, Tomari considered her to be devil after she sacrifice few Roidmudes but realize that not all Roidmude are not bad, he started to be kind to Medic |

I mean Gou getting the kill is fine, i have no problem about it but its like Kiriko was Banno's daughter too, and its like his only child was Gou. Doesn't Kiriko hate her father as well?

Subs are up.
Pretty good episodes, lots of feels for Gou smashing the bannodriver. I gotta say though, continuing with Dead Head and Super Dead Heat . . . the mashup suits are SHIT. Chaser/Mach is so fucking ugly |
Gou gives Kiriko the Deadheat car... Drive hasn't used Deadheat in a while. Maybe Shinnosuke and Heart might use some double Dead Zone action to beat Sigma? I wonder. That would make Dead Zone seem a lot less generally useless.

This is a pretty good episode, and gets the emotions right. The lazy suit and the reappearance of the viral cores having no in-show explanation does hurt it a bit but the moment is legitimately sad and it is a cool fight too.
The fact that Mass Production Mach was just completely dropped was kind of annoying though, and I also would have liked Kiriko to have had a significant role. |
This was an extremely great episode. I loved Mach vs Gold Drive so much, all of Gou's emotions were fantastic and this is one of the best Secondary Rider stories ever told. I loved Mach Type Chaser so much and him finishing off Banno with the Shingou Axe. I can't wait to see Drive vs Heart next week and to see how they stop this Sigma device as well. I am loving these final episodes so much right now. I am sad to see Medic go but that was a great scene just like with Chase and Brain. I love Gou so much! It had to be said again.

Really good episode; I actually got so invested that I swore out lout when it ended on a cliffhanger. If I had any real complaint it would probably be how disconnected the Gou and Shinnosuke halves of the episode feel, but they tie together enough for it to work, even if there is still a drop in momentum when we move from Banno's defeat to Shinnosuke fighting random Roidmudes in a hallway. And as far as Banno's ultimate defeat goes? Even the cheesy wobbling belt can't undo Gou's awesome response to the Signal Axe's catchphrase.

Next time on Kamen Rider feels, more feels.
Gou destroying Banno was easily one of the best scenes I've seen in a Rider show. I also like how this all goes back to when Gou said that Drive was the protector and Mach was the destroyer. Mach was the one that killed off Banno for good, while Drive is the one tasked with saving the world. |
Gotta hand it to the poor man’s Evel Knievel: At this point he’s a much more interesting and developed character than Shinnosuke. Looking back, the thing with his partner was rather unnecessary and irrelevant, the story arc with his dad’s murder case wasn’t that great either, it stood out only because of things like Nira and the Roidmude schemes more than anything.
But Gou got a nice character arc that resulted in a satisfying finale. I still can’t stand this guy no matter how hard I try, but at least he is a character with some interest. It was a nice episode, didn’t hit me as hard as people who actually like the show I’d presume, but still some hilarious stuff. Like for example, Chase’s “remnants”. I love how they took a whole dump of electric scrap and scattered it across the set alongside rags of his clothing. That’s the Tokusatsu equivalent of the Mortal Kombat fatalities where 3 skulls, 6 ribcages and 200 bones fly out of an exploding body. Hilarious. But yeah, the new form was half-assed and super lazy as expected. It was especially bad when this form gave Gou the power boost to defeat the guy the 3 Riders couldn’t deal with as a group before. Oh of course, it’s his “burning feelings” that win the fight. Sure. And there’s really no excuse for this laziness, just painting the Mach suit completely grey and make the visor purple instead of blue and this would’ve actually looked okay. But this lazy kit-bash is just awful. I smiled when even Gold Drive was like “This makes no sense!” because it’s true. Oh well, Drive’s over soon, but I do want to see Shinnosuke and Heart finally duke it out. I hope they do find a way to reunite the Roidmudes and give them a chance to live among humans. |

And nobody mentions that Mach finally remembers that he has the power of short bursts of super-speed. Though, I rather liked this episode, even if Chaser-Mach still needs work, appearance-wise. I liked the sick joke at the end of the Banno-Mach with the Signal Axe as well.

How many Roidmudes are left anyways?

Best episode of Kamen Rider I've seen to date (yeah I haven't seen a lot but this episode tops any episode of Gaim, and I'm a damn Gaim fanboy).
10 out of 5. |
Well first off the next episode preview shows that I was right heart is the final boss in the series! Well final roidmude that is.
Secondly this was amazing and when medic died I was sad but gou did a honorable thing to honor chase. |

To those who complain about reappearance of Chase's Viral Core, I feel that Viral Core was more like spirit because we only seem them with Purple Color.
I knew Gou will finally considered Chase as his friend than his enemy. I like how Gou is not waste character like Beast, He even took out Banno the one who responsible all of this! Poor Medic, Not only she was unable to apologize to Chase, She was force to be left behind when Sigma make Slowdown worse for her. While Gou is saddened by Chase's Death, Kiriko took it hard as she lose her shining knight. Chase will be revives as he appear in 2 last episode but his revival will be temporarily. Apparently Banno suddenly get scared when he get killed by his own children. |
Really exceptional episode, and I'd say one of the better finale setups for a Rider series. It's something how much more feeling there's been for this series in the last ten episodes than the entire season. I've noticed in commentary as well how the series suddenly got this huge uptick in notoriety.

This was just a great cathartic episode with Banno's end. I mentioned a while ago how with a few twists, this should could have been Kamen Rider Mach with Drive being the secondary...and with Mach taking out Banno, I still think it would have rocked. Yes the Chase base with the Mach armor is a bit lazy, but at the same time it works. I have seen much much muuuuuch worse stuff (diend's final form) plus just the EMOTION of the fight! Now I still would have loved to have seen the Viral Cores actually being used again, but Gou and the Axe...oh man...
Sigma, ehhh...it felt like a hyped up SNK final boss to be honest. Though Medic's final moments...yeah again...THE FEELS!!!! |
I have to admit, the Chaser Mach form wasn't as bad I thought it would be. Honestly it was pretty cool. These past few episodes have had so many major deaths. First it was Brain, then Chase, now Medic, and its kind of obvious it's going to be Heart next week. I can't wait to see Shinnosuke and Heart go all against each other out next week. The Sigma thing is really creepy, I hope they get rid of that thing soon. I can't believe there are 2 episodes left, let's see what happens...

Sad thing is...these characters we care about so much are probably gonna be mindless henchmen for the next S-Taisen movie :(

The actors move on and the Rider suits are treated as mooks for whatever stupid ass plot these Taisen movies do. It's disheartening but at least Drive's going out strong after being middle of the road for so long. |

Sad, though, that the plot is pointing toward a final, pointless conflict with Heart. I'd've been more pleased if the finale somehow found a way to focus on humanity and the surviving Roidmudes making peace. Who knows, though? I've been pleasantly surprised for quite a few episodes, now. |
