Dekaranger 10 Years After Discussion
The raw is officially out, thanks to overtime. Feel free to discuss the film here!
|
I hope there's an ETA for subs, because I kinda liked Dekaranger~
|
Yay, new Umeko! (Newmeko?)
And other stuff that will probably also be good but innately less awesome than Umeko! |
Well, that was awesome.
It was great to see the 8 of them(Doggie and Swan included) back together again. The pacing was alright overall, and the battle was satisfying. Despite his demise it was great to see Tochihara again. That in-depth narration of how judgement time works was very cool, and if I recall correctly the narrator broke the 4th wall at one point which was funny(sorry, too lazy to find it again). Last battle was awesome. Just awesome. It reminded me of why this show was awesome when it aired. The teleportation thing could feel cheap to some, but overall, if you wanna just enjoy alumni sentai brush off the dust on their henshin devices and kick it like old times you will love this. So yeah, go watch it. And Bandai, please give us Carranger 20 years after next year. :) |

After getting to see this with subs I can't say I was that thrilled by it. I absolutely loved Dekaranger, its one of my absolute favorite sentai. But the movie was a decent watch that ultimately was about as iffy as Hurricanger 10YA. I enjoyed seeing everyone together again but the premise wasn't very exciting. The "evil allies' shtick was played out better in the Sharivan Next Generation movie. And overall it felt like one of the more off in between episodes of the show rather than a celebration of the 10 years since it.

Just saw the sub and yeah I agree with what Den-O said. I love DekaRanger, the show was my gateway drug into Sentai and in a way this film feels like a proper finale to the show, but yeah there were some problems...
I wish more focus could've been given to the rookies, I liked the idea of and twist of crooked cops but you don't really get a sense of camaraderie between them and the other Dekas, in a way they weren't really needed for the film at all and felt kind of like throw away villains. In fact, I expected more of a shock out of Umeko. |
As a throwaway reunion special I thought this was perfectly fine. It didn't have any major new plot developments or anything, but it was enjoyable to see the characters back again for 45 minutes (especially with Umeko getting most of the screentime). For something that was just a basic plot and a ton of callbacks, I enjoyed the heck out of it.
But oh man, did the archival footage of the Dekarobo not age well. It was really obvious when the video quality just plummeted during that scene. :lol |
I honestly thought that was the worst part of the episode. There are no real reason for it other than because it's expected. The special would have been better without a giant battle for once.

😭 banban is much cooler here...
