Kamen Rider Ghost Episode 3- "Bullseye! The Bow Of Justice" Discussion
Little John, you have failed this city!

As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. Kamen Rider Ghost airs at 7PM EST during this block. |

Looks like there might not be a stream tonight.
EDIT:Never mind crisis averted |
OOOH. Looks like Specter, Nobunaga, AND Newton are next week? Jeez.

Sounds fun if true though. Was the Nobunaga Damashii actually shown on screen? If so, eagerly awaiting screenshots... |

This might be my favorite form so far
in before someone complains MORE SONICS ARROWS? DAMMIT BANDAI |
Found the preview on Youtube.
Hm yeah, that's not very conclusive at all. I can definitely see this be a case of getting it but not using it until an episode or two from now. I mean, Kaito was just carrying around the Mango Lockseed for ages before he actually used it... |

To further support the idea that Specter already has Tutankhamen though, he's actually glimpsed holding the Cobra Cellular at the end of this episode. I guess Ghost had the Condor Phone before getting Robin, but I wouldn't doubt that because we saw the phone's true purpose in this episode, showing us the Cobra means that Specter already has his first Eyecon.

This was my favorite episode so far (together with the first), even though it the plot was a bit obvious. I liked how the characters all started to specialize on a task and supported each other and it was really cool to see Takeru taking action for his character motivation. If this is how the show will be like in the future, I'm in.
Also, the music in the flash back at the beginning of the episode was awesome! |
I didn't mind the first episode at all, but man, the pacing in these two last episodes has been pretty funky. Especially for this one it definitely does feel like they crunched up two-parters into a single episode. It's not wonderful.
And I guess it's because of that that the ~mystery~ in this one was no mystery. It's not like they had more time in a single episode to telegraph "hey this is the culprit you guys." That scene shift during the first fight from indoors to Under That One Bridde was pretty ridics, too. Eh, it was a fine episode otherwise. Akari wasn't annoying in this one at all, as opposed to the last two where she just sat on her ass yelling "I DONT BELIEVE IN NOTHIN" she actually did constructive things this time around with ~science~, so that was cool. Seeing all the Damashii so far used was also neat, Robin is pretty cool. (I am rather bothered by the fact that the show Eyecon is labeled "Robin Hood" while the toys just say "Robin," though. Kinda odd) That Makoto tease at the end though. I'm looking forward to next week, though I do hope they sort out the pacing...though since it's looking like we may be getting an average of one new form per episode up to around February, it does look like they're going to keep blowing through story after story extremely quickly. |
I like how they did not just throw the Edison away for this episode and actually used it, and they did not have Takeru just get his ass kicked for no reason either so the enemy could run away, of course he still runs away but hey at least it was not a two parter.
I am starting to wonder if Yurusen and the old man are just tricking the main character though. They do seem to be cramming a lot of stuff in here at the start though, likely for a better toy sale, its clear that they are putting to much into each episode currently but the pace will probably get better when the majority of toys are covered. I assume at least, other then that I am enjoying Ghost so far and the armor and monster designs have been pretty good so far, the action is not bad either. |
Does anyone know who played the reporter? She looked really familiar. Was she on a Sentai?
Good episode, but I do agree that it felt a little rushed. I don't think I'd have wanted to see it stretched out to two full episodes, though. Onari is turning int Shunpei. I am not happy about this. The show is a bit less obnoxious than Drive, but the "comedic" overreactions are definitely back. |

edit: this lady. She was also apparently in that one Gavan movie. And yeah, Onari went over-the-top in this episode. There was one "yelling straight at the camera" moment in episode 2, this one had like a dozen. Way too much. Hopefully it tones down in the future instead of getting worse... |
Onari wouldn't have gotten himself caught if he wasn't yelling all the god damned time, I mean jesus christ....

So... How does the Ganma influence work exactly? They find a person who resonates with the hero's item and the more the Ganma is able to fill their mind with bad intentions, the closer they get to summoning the ghost? But only in the vicinity of the said item I guess? I don't understand.
How does Takeru's seal work then? Is it when the person shows similarities to the hero? Is the Ganma trying to elicit emotions that contradict the hero in that case? |

I liked that Akari built a device to see ghosts this early. I wasn't expecting that until midseason. Neat.
Yep mhmm. That's really all that mattered to me. Onari was his usual self, and this was the first episode where the old man actually grated, too. That bit with the horse pants was just way too stupid. I much would've preferred if they got the Robin Hood clue from the reporter first. So, Ganma can influence others' minds? So, which one is gonna be mind tricked, Akari or Onari? |
It was an okay episode. Mari being Little John was way too obvious, as when he/she first appears you can tell that the frame belongs to a woman. And then the whole knowledge of Robin Hood and backstory just confirmed it 100%. Though interesting abut the Ganma controlling the human mind though.
It was just okay. But seriously, what the fuck with those pants? |

Akari isn't really 'doing' anything, even though she'll be used to 'see' the ghosts from now on. Yay for usefullness. However, I was almost expecting some ecchi nonsense from the old man, but I'm glad they didn't use that trope too heavily. Onari's actor needs to tone it down, he makes Fourze look sedated. Heck, he makes Takaharu from Ninninger look comatose. But wait, they gave him some common sense to beat the monster! Yay for usefullness. We knew there was an element of MOTW causes human to do stupid things with historical objects. Bird bow is merely okay. I'm starting to like the ghost changes and outfits the more that I see them, but each new episode confirms what I thought which is that they'll roll out the first 12 Eyecons in the first 12 episodes, and leave 13-15 for the second half. |

Add that to the fact that Little John obviously looked like a Maid Marian and that she actually got additional screentime and even a chat with the protagonist. I was rather surprised how obvious it was... Episode itself was okay, Grandpa Ghost with his horsey pants and the golden Ghost-spray were kinda cool, but I wasn’t very impressed with the Condor Phone or the Robin Hood-form to be honest. |
See, I'm not sure they were trying to make it a mystery to the audience. I think it was only supposed to be a mystery to the characters. I feel like the writers knew 25 minutes was no time at all to cram in both a proper whodunnit AND a toy commercial.

I like this episode. I did find it a bit predicable, but still pretty good. The Ganma are starting to remind me of the Phantoms from Wizard. I do look forward to on seeing Specter soon. At least we are getting our secondary rider earlier then later.

I know we're only like 3-4 episodes in but how are you guys feeling about the one episode arcs thus far in this series?

This was a fantastic episode. I really loved seeing Arisa from UltraMan Ginga S again she played a great role as Little John here and I loved her chemistry with Takeru they both got along really well together. Akari has really grown here, she's less annoying and more useful trying to figure what Takeru's Dad's research and finding out how to see Ghosts which was awesome. I enjoy Onari he's a lot of fun and very helpful at the end I think he'll feel more useful later on and not go too crazy like he did this episode. I really enjoyed Takeru saving Little John from the Ganma from having her life stolen that was great how he can save lives. The Robin Hood Damashii is freaking badass, I hope to see it more in action though, Ghost's fights right now are kind of lacking right now but I think Spectre and hopefully the Ganma next episode will help give it something better. Well I can't wait for more I love this show a lot right now.

I finally got around to watching this episode.
Ugh, the cast is so obnoxious. I really can't stand any of the characters. There's no charm or wit to any of them. |
I'm getting worried about this series. On the "stuff I like" side, I enjoyed that Akari finally got to do something other than shrilly deny everything happening around her. I enjoyed that - thank goodness! - this wasn't a two-parter.
My "stuff I didn't like" list is way longer, though. So far, we haven't seen enough of the master villains to be interested in them, and the monsters-of-the-week might have nice designs, but they're boring and generic. They're actually less interesting than MotWs in Sentai. Onari is borderline-unwatchably annoying, and Yurusen is... not enhancing episodes for me, so far. I almost kinda like Sennin, although this episode made me doubt that a bit. Several people have pointed out that this episode felt too rushed, and I agree up to a point, but it also felt too thin to have been stretched into a satisfying two-parter. I'm guessing that, given that the Ghost theme has the potential to come across as dark, the showrunners have been trying really, really hard to adopt a light tone. They've succeeded - a cast mostly comprised of comic relief characters, the driver's standby tune, the peppy theme song that seems more appropriate to OOO or Fourze - but I think they've gone too far in that direction. This feels more like Sentai than Kamen Rider. (And I say that as someone who enjoys Sentai.) I was lukewarm on Robin Damashii despite that I really kinda dig the condor phone. Actually, that I'm not more excited about the hoodies makes Gaim's use of fruit arms seem brilliant: they didn't have to spend an entire episode explaining what's unique about strawberries or mangoes. Here's hoping next week gives me a little more to be optimistic about. (I'm watching with a friend who's usually only available about a week after episodes air, so I'm probably going to be essentially a week behind forever.) |

So when Akari was on the computer in Takeru's lab, was the background music chanting "Ave?"
|
I don't know. I'd have to check it. But it may have.
