I was hoping it wasn't a total MMPR-reboot.

Call them what you want; still think this is gonna crash & burn.

Man. There was a part of me that was hopping this was not a reboot that this is in the Power Rangers universe. But reboot or no reboot i will see this movie.

Oh thank God! Names are names and there was nothing wrong with the ones in the rumors, except the Red Ranger's last name was Oliver, so it would have had some relation to Tommy which I did not want.

I'm glad that the movie is going to be a alternate version of MMPR. People are going to see this movie and hope for a alternate retelling of MMPR similar to how Transformers was in 2007. MMPR is the show that most people grew up with. The movie is set in it's own universe, so they can do whatever they want as long if it's good.

Trini doesn't have to be Asian, it's a name of Hispanic origin so it can be anyone really. Appropriately, a Hispanic actress was cast.

While I kinda liked the idea of the movie being a continuation of the franchise rather than being it's own thing, I do have to admit that I think making it seperate will help keep things from becoming overly complex.

He's probably referring to the unaired pilot, which used different actors.

Don't feel too bad. I'd completely forgotten about her until I looked up the origin of the name Trini earlier tonight.

I figured we'd get the original names. I dont care either way. Now, we have names, and the cast, can I see the zords soon?

I don't mind this being a reboot. That means they're not restricted by the Power Rangers canon and can tell whatever story they want to tell.

Since when has any series been restricted by canon?

Turbo? Matrix is correct in it being much better than people make it out to be, but it's still VERY restricted by keeping a canon with the story that came before.

For example, lets say all the new Rangers and Justin were there from the start and Justin was Ashley's little brother and the Rangers were summoned by Lerigot (who now actually speaks normal English) to fight a band of roving marauders lead by the evil Divatox who want to destroy the world and ransack it for parts to make their war vehicles stronger and who also have a bizzare sense of humor.

There's no reason this movie couldn't have been standalone without rebooting MMPR.

Friend of my keep saying this but after rethinking it I agree cause all depends on casule people when I say that I mean people that grew out of kid show and cartoon this ant going to be next thing after transformers

That's not what the casual audience wants or expects, though. For a lot of people this movie is the return of Power Rangers, which they probably assume ended sometime back in the late 90s. The studio is likely banking on that nostalgia as a selling point, ergo reboot.

It has really really bugged me that they've totally changed the ethnic origins of the characters yet retained the names. The original characters were racially diverse so it's obvious the only reason Zack is now Asian, Trini is Hispanic and Billy is black is to dodge the ultra PC crowd nowadays.

They shouldn't have named these characters after the original MMPR. They should be new characters setting out a new timeline.
